that CSP1 level in saliva could be used as a potential biomarker of detection or screening of DM patients. However, further studies are necessary to provide scientific and clinical validation.
Although TSH suppression by elevated β-hCG is essentially seen during first trimester, differences in TSH reference ranges between various countries have been reported. Physiologic changes during pregnancy may also influence FT4 assays. This study aims to establish method-specific reference intervals (RIs) of TSH, FT4, and FT3 in Vietnamese, first trimester pregnant women.

This cross-sectional study was conducted at My Duc Hospital, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Women with singleton pregnancies in the first trimester and conceived naturally were included. Those with a history of thyroid disease, positive thyroid-specific autoantibodies, diffuse goiter or one thyroid nodule > 10 mm in size or ≥ 2 nodules detected by ultrasound, and taking medications affecting thyroid function were excluded. Serum TSH, FT4, and FT3 were measured by chemiluminescent detection technology on the Access 2 Immunoassay System (Beckman Coulter, Inc., USA). Intra- and interassay coefficients of variations (CV) were 3.6% and 4.4% for TSH, 5.4% and 6.1% for FT4, 6.6%, and 6.0% for FT3, respectively. The 2.5th and 97.5th percentiles were used to determine RIs.

Between August 1, 2017, to December 1, 2018, there were 876 pregnant women who fulfilled inclusion and exclusion criteria. They had a mean age of 30.1 years, an average BMI of 21.3 kg/m2, and 77.3% of them were primigravida. The RIs for TSH, FT4 and FT3 were 0.17 - 2.35 mIU/L, 0.67 - 1.11 ng/dL and 2.82 - 3.90 pg/mL, respectively.

Established RIs for TSH, FT4, and FT3 in Vietnamese women would help to reduce the misdiagnosis of gestational thyroid disorders.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic illness that is a worldwide issue. HbA1c has been used to monitor glycemic control in patients with diabetes for many years. Although HbA1c measurement is needed for calculating estimated average blood glucose (eAG), it is now recommended that eAG is used instead of HbA1c for expression of blood glucose control and communication with patients and health care providers. This study, investigated fasting blood glucose (FBS) as an indicator of overall chronic blood sugar control by assessing the correlation between FBS with eAG derived from HbA1c.

The blood samples for HbA1c assay were collected in EDTA tubes and were analyzed by an HPLC analyzer (G8 Tosoh, Japan). Blood samples for FBS were collected in serum separator tubes, transported, and centrifuged for 15 minutes at 3,000 g. FBS levels were determined in serum samples with the enzymatic hexokinase method by a clinical chemistry analyzer (Architect 8000, Abbott, USA).

Statistical analysis was performed on 1,740 patients must be conducted to provide solid results to support that FBS and its derived variable eAG can replace HbA1c as an indicator of long-term overall control of T2DM patients.
We concluded that there is a moderate and significant positive correlation between fasting blood sugar and the estimated average blood glucose derived from HbA1c. Although FBS might be helpful for daily monitoring of diabetes. Further studies must be conducted to provide solid results to support that FBS and its derived variable eAG can replace HbA1c as an indicator of long-term overall control of T2DM patients.
Strongyloides stercoralis poses a significant clinical and public health challenge not only in endemic regions but also in non-endemic regions associated with travel. Ruling out this infection is essential in immuno-compromised hosts given the high probability of reactivation and mortality.

In this study we compared an ELISA based on two recombinant antigens in the United States with a highly sensitive and specific reference serological test.

There was 100% agreement between the two methods. ELISA assays based on Strongyloides stercoralis recombinant antigens has the potential to improve specificity. Further studies are warranted.

To analyze the relationship between HPV infection and early cervical cancer and postoperative survival outcomes.

A total of 556 women were recruited to receive TCT and HPV tests from October 2017 to October 2018. The type of disease was pathologically diagnosed. The HPV positive rate, HPV-DNA, and E6/E7 mRNA quantitative level were detected, and the diagnostic accuracy of the subjects was analyzed by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC). The cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and early cervical cancer patients were radically cured and followed up for 12.0 months to analyze the recurrence rate.

Seventy-two cases of chronic cervicitis, 54 cases of CIN, and 51 cases of cervical cancer patients were pathologically diagnosed (32 cases in early stage and 19 cases in middle and late stage). HPV positive rate increased gradually in chronic cervicitis, CIN, and cervical cancer group (p < 0.001) and HPV 16 + 18 subtype. The positive rate was significantly different (p = 0.009). HPV-DNA and E6/E7 mRNA quantification also showed significant differences (p < 0.001). ROC analysis indicated that the accuracy of HPV-DNA and E6/E7 mRNA quantitative diagnosis of malignant lesions (CIN+ cervical cancer) were 0.865 and 0.879, respectively. There were 4 cases (7.41%) of recurrence in CIN group and 5 cases (15.63%) in early cervical cancer group. There was no difference (p = 0.401) among all of the patients. All patients with recurrence were HPV positive.

HPV detection is an indispensable screening method for early cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, and comprehensive HPV 16 and 18 subtypes. selleck chemicals DNA and E6/E7 mRNA quantification assay would further improve the accuracy of screening.
