PPP1R13L-associated cardiocutaneous syndrome is an autosomal recessive condition that presents with life-threatening dilated cardiomyopathy in early childhood, with or without features of inflammation on cardiac histology. There is also a variably expressed ectodermal phenotype.
This exploratory study aimed to investigate factors related to infant deaths using a conceptual framework that explains the risk factors of infant deaths in developing countries.
The study adopted a cross-sectional study design and used data from the 2012 and 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Surveys, with a sample of 3694 singleton live births in 2012 and 3413 in 2017.
Female infants had a lower chance of mortality compared to male infants [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 0.51; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.34-0.77]. Infants with a smaller birth size had a higher risk of infant death compared to those with an average size (aOR = 5.66; 95% CI = 3.66-8.77). The risk of infant death with a preceding birth interval of ≥24 months was lower than that with a preceding birth interval of <24 months (aOR = 0.48; 95% CI = 0.26-0.90). An older maternal age was a risk factor for infant death compared to younger mothers (aOR = 3.61; 95% CI = 1.42-9.23). Infants who were born in Sumatra (aOR = 0.38; 95% CI = 0.16-0.89) and Java and Bali (aOR = 0.33; 95% CI = 0.14-0.78) were less likely to die than infants who were born in Papua and Maluku.
A higher infant death risk was associated with male babies and a shorter birth interval (<24 months). Mothers who perceived their babies to be small and mothers who were older (35-49 years old) were high-risk factors for infant mortality. Mothers who lived in Java and Bali as well as Sumatera were less likely to experience infant mortality compared to those who lived in Papua and Maluku.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency and influencing factors of surgical ward nursing.
High-quality development of public hospitals and implementation of nursing fine management require improvements to promote nursing efficiency.
This study examined input data, such as number of beds, nurses, and nursing hours, and output data on discharged person-times, surgical output, and case mix index of released patients, in 40 surgical wards in China between September 2020 and August 2021. Nursing efficiency was assessed and analysed using data envelopment analysis, and changes in efficiency were dynamically evaluated using the Malmquist index analysis.
The average total technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency were 78%, 94%, and 82%, respectively. In addition, 81% and 67% of surgical wards had input redundancy and output insufficiency, respectively. The monthly average total factor productivity was 118%, and the overall efficiency increased month after month.
Overall, nursing service efficiency was low, which was limited by scale efficiency, pure technical efficiency, or both.
Data envelopment analysis could help nursing managers optimize nursing human resource allocation and nursing performance allocation.

The aim of this study was to investigate temperature profiles in both the renal pelvis and parenchyma during Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) and Holmiumyttrium-aluminium-garnet (HoYAG) laser activation in an ex-vivo porcine model.
Three porcine kidneys with intact renal pelvis and proximal ureters were used in the study. A temperature sensor was inserted through a nephrostomy tube into the renal pelvis and a second sensor was inserted directly into the renal parenchyma. Temperatures were recorded during continuous laser activation for 180 s, and for an additional 60 s after deactivation. TFL (150 μm and 200 μm) and HoYAG (270 μm) laser delivered power at settings of 2.4 W, 8 W, 20 W and 30 W.
Intrapelvic temperatures correlated directly to power settings. Higher power produced higher temperatures. For example, using a 150 μm fiber at 2.4 W resulted in a 2.6 °C rise from baseline (
= 0.008), whereas using the same fiber at 20 W produced a rise in temperature of 19.9 °C (
= 0.02). Larger laser fibers caused significantly higher temperatures compared to smaller fibers using equivalent power settings, e.g. mean temperature at 20 W using 150 μm was 39.6 °C compared to 44.9 °C using 200 μm,
< 0.001. There was a significant increase in parenchymal temperatures when applying 20 W and 30 W of laser power with the two larger fibers.
In this ex-vivo study, renal temperatures correlated directly to power settings. Higher power produced higher temperatures. Furthermore, larger laser fibers caused higher temperatures. These findings could help guide selection of safe power settings for ureteroscopic lithotripsy, but future clinical studies are needed for confirmation.

However, the significant volume expansion of the Li metal during charging results in poor cycling stability as a result of the dendritic deposition and broken solid electrolyte interphase. Herein, a facile one-step roll-to-roll fabrication of a zero-volume-expansion Li-metal-composite anode (zeroVE-Li) is proposed to realize high-energy-density LMBs with outstanding electrochemical and mechanical stability. The zeroVE-Li possesses a sandwich-like trilayer structure, which consists of an upper electron-insulating layer and a bottom lithiophilic layer that synergistically guides the Li deposition from the bottom up, and a middle porous layer that eliminates volume expansion. This sandwich structure eliminates dendrite formation, prevents volume change during cycling, and provides outstanding flexibility to the Li-metal anode even at a practical areal capacity over 3.0 mAh cm-2 . Pairing zeroVE-Li with a commercial NMC811 or LCO cathode, flexible LMBs that offer a record-breaking figure of merit (FOM, 45.6), large whole-cell energy density (375 Wh L-1 , based on the volume of the anode, separator, cathode, and package), high-capacity retention (> 99.8% per cycle), and remarkable mechanical robustness under practical conditions are demonstrated.A novel HLA allele HLA-B*15625 was identified in a Chinese marrow donor.
Despite its potential scalability, little is known about the outcomes of internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy (iCBT) for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) when it is provided with minimal guidance from a clinician.
To evaluate the outcomes of minimally guided iCBT for PTSD in a randomised control trial (RCT, Study 1) and in an open trial in routine community care (Study 2).
A RCT compared the iCBT course (
=21) to a waitlist control (WLC,
=19) among participants diagnosed with PTSD. The iCBT group was followed up 3 months post-treatment. In Study 2, treatment outcomes were evaluated among 117 adults in routine community care. PTSD symptom severity was the primary outcome in both studies, with psychological distress and co-morbid anxiety and depressive symptoms providing secondary outcomes.
iCBT participants in both studies experienced significant reductions in PTSD symptom severity from pre- to post-treatment treatment (within-group Hedges'
=.72-1.02), with RCT findings showing maintenance of gains at 3-month follow-up. The WLC group in the RCT also significantly improved, but Study 1 was under-powered and the medium between-group effect favouring iCBT did not reach significance (
=0.64; 95% CI, -0.10-1.38).
This research provides preliminary support for the utility of iCBT for PTSD when provided with minimal clinician guidance. Future studies are needed to clarify the effect of differing levels of clinician support on PTSD iCBT outcomes, as well as exploring how best to integrate iCBT into large-scale, routine clinical care of PTSD.

In this research report, we show this by way of estimates from a regression analysis looking at the association between acute kidney injury and postoperative mortality in a sample of 194 neonates who underwent the Norwood operation. Two models were developed, one using a continuous measure of renal function as the main explanatory variable and second using a categorized version of the same variable. A continuous measure of renal function is more likely to yield reliable estimates and also maintains more statistical power in the analysis to detect a relation between the exposure and outcome. It also reveals the true biological relationship between the exposure and outcome. Categorizing a continuous variable may not only miss an important message, it can also get it wrong. AZD5582 mw Additionally, given a non-linear relationship is commonly encountered between the exposure and outcome variable, investigators are advised to retain a predictor with a linear term only when supported by data. All of this is particularly important in small datasets which account for the majority of clinical research studies.Sulfonamides are auspicious chemosensors which are capable to bind with ionic species through various ways like complexation, charge transfer, proton transfer etc. and produce a detection signal in the form of an optical change either in visible or UV-light and for electronic as well as fluorimetric spectra. Sulfonamides have gained much attention of analytical chemists these days as these are inexpensive, robust, green in nature and some what sensitive and selective to many anionic and cationic species. Due to their promising versatility in sensing properties, these are under great consideration in forensic, environmental, analytical and biochemistry laboratories. This review narrates how sulfonamides are being used to optically sense ionic species.
