The following discussion highlights pressing questions and challenges in the HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 syndemic, including (i) age, sex, and race as drivers of COVID-19 severity; (ii) whether chronic inflammation common in PLWH influences immune response; (iii) whether disease severity and trajectory models for COVID-19 ought to be calibrated for PLWH; (iv) vaccine considerations, and finally, (v) long-term health outcomes in PLWH that are further burdened by coinfection with SARS-CoV-2.Stress-related psychological dysfunctions show a marked increase during adolescence, yet the mechanisms that mediate these vulnerabilities are unknown. Notably, however, adolescence is associated with changes in hormonal stress reactivity mediated by the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which might contribute to these dysfunctions. Specifically, pre-adolescent animals display prolonged stress-induced HPA responses compared to adults. Previous experience with stressors further modify these changes in stress reactivity, such that repeated exposure to the same stressor results in an augmented HPA response prior to adolescence, but a habituated response in adulthood. It is unclear when during adolescence the habituated, adult-like response develops to a repeated stressor. Using male rats at various ages that span adolescence (30-70 days of age), we show that by mid-adolescence (i.e. 42 days of age), animals show neither a facilitated nor a habituated HPA hormonal response following four days of repeatedrabilities often associated with stressful adolescence.Evidence-based guidelines (EBGs) for patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) recommend that nutritional care is delivered by an interprofessional team inclusive of dietitians, doctors, nurses, and speech pathologists. Barriers to collaboration exist within interprofessional teams. However, research on this is currently lacking in the HNC setting, particularly with regard to the provision of nutritional care. This study aimed to explore what facilitates collaborative nutritional care for patients with HNC from the perspectives of different healthcare professionals. This qualitative study used a grounded theory approach. Healthcare professionals from two radiotherapy departments in the United States and two in Australia were interviewed. Forty-six interviews were completed with 17 radiation-oncologists, 12 nurses, eleven dietitians, and 6 speech-pathologists. Collaborative nutritional care for patients with HNC was underpinned by three categories and six sub-categories access to dietitians (facilitated by funding for dietitians and the strength of evidence), communication (facilitated by team meetings, communication systems, and multidisciplinary clinics), and role-clarity (facilitated by non-clinical activities and respect). This study highlights opportunities for enhancing collaborative nutritional care within HNC teams. Further studies on the impact of the dietitian, interprofessional education, team meetings, and multidisciplinary clinics are required to promote collaborative nutritional care for HNC patients.Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare, heterogeneous mesenchymal neoplasias. Understanding the tumor microenvironment (TME) and identifying potential biomarkers for prognosis associated with the TME of STS might provide effective clues for immune therapy. We evaluated the immune scores and stromal scores of STS patients by using the RNA sequencing dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and the ESTIMATE algorithm. Then, the differentially expressed mRNAs (DEGs), miRNAs (DEMs) and lncRNAs (DELs) were identified after comparing the high- and low-score groups. Next, we established a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network and explored the prognostic values of biomarkers involved in the network with the help of bioinformatics analysis. High immune score was significantly associated with favorable overall survival in STS patients. A total of 328 DEGs, 18 DEMs and 67 DELs commonly regulated in the immune and stromal score groups were obtained. A ceRNA network and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network identified some hub nodes with considerable importance in the network.
