Methods A retrospective study with 156 CRC patients staged I to IV was performed. The prognostic efficacy of ACR was estimated and subsequently compared with ALB, CEA, and other systemic inflammation markers, including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR). Differences in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were determined by Kaplan-Meier (K-M) analysis, and the risk factors for survival were calculated by the Cox proportional hazards model. Results A total of 31.41% (49 of 156) of patients presented with ACR-low disease, and these patients had tumors with advanced T stages, larger tumor diameters and distant metastases, and a lower LMR. click here When 5.98 was used as the cut-off point, it had a sensitivity of 58.50% and 61.50% and a specificity of 83.50% and 80.50% for PFS and OS, respectively. ACR displayed a superior prognostic efficacy than individual ALB, CEA and NLR, LMR, and PLR for both PFS and OS (except LMR). Patients in the ACR-low group displayed significantly worse PFS and OS than those in the ACR-high group. Finally, ACR was an independent prognostic factor for both PFS (HR = 0.31, 95% CI 0.17-0.56, P  less then  .01) and OS (HR = 0.33, 95% CI 0.16-0.66, P  less then  .01). Conclusions ACR was a robust prognostic factor in CRC, and patients with a relatively low preoperative ACR would have significantly worse survival.Fish sauce is a special flavored condiment formed by traditional fermentation of low-value fish in coastal areas, which are consumed and produced in many parts of the world, especially in Southeast Asia. In the process of fish sauce fermentation, the diversity of microbial flora and the complex metabolic reactions of microorganisms, especially lipid oxidation, carbohydrate fermentation and protein degradation, are accompanied by the formation of flavor substances. However, the precise reaction of microorganisms during the fersmentation process is difficult to accurately control in modern industrial production, which leads to the loss of traditional characteristic flavors in fermented fish sauces. This paper reviews the manufacturing processes, core microorganisms, metabolic characteristics and flavor formation mechanisms of fermented fish sauces at home and abroad. Various methods have been utilized to analyze and characterize the composition and function of microorganisms. Additionally, the potential safety issues of fermented fish sauces and their health benefits are also reviewed. Furthermore, some future directions and prospects of fermented fish sauces are also reviewed in this paper. By comprehensive understanding of this review, it is expected to address the challenges in the modern production of fish sauce thereby expanding its application in food or diet.Rubber is the key component of a compression packer, which directly affects the success or failure of seals. Presently, the contact stress between the rubber and borehole walls is used as the main evaluation criterion for the sealing ability of the rubber of the compression packer. However, this evaluation criterion is imperfect. This study establishes the sealing performance and reliability evaluation system of a compression packer at 120°C. Considering the influence of time and temperature on the mechanical characteristics of rubber materials, the international advanced test technology was used to complete the uniaxial, planar and biaxial tensile tests and stress relaxation test for hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) of a compression packer under high temperature. Next, the hyperelastic and viscoelastic constitutive models of rubber materials based on high-temperature test data were established. Comprehensive sealing performance and reliability evaluation system for the compression packer rubber with compression rate, linear pressure, surface pressure and sealing performance coefficient were proposed. The evaluation system tested the rubber's stress relaxation effect on the rubber's sealing performance. The establishment of the evaluation system improved the shortcomings of the current packer-sealing performance evaluation system and provided a theoretical basis for the design and optimisation of the key structure of the packer-sealing system. Besides, based on the evaluation system, a platform for automatic structure simulation analysis and optimisation design of packer sealing system was developed and successfully applied to the actual design and optimisation process of packer. The system can effectively predict the sealing ability of the packer and guide field applications of the packer. Objective This study aimed at to raise the awareness understanding of primary pulmonary lymphoma (PPL) by analyzing the clinical manifestation, imaging, pathology, diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic features of 50 cases of PPL. Methods The study of 50 individuals with PPL diagnosed at the First affiliated hospital of Nanchang university between January 2009 and December 2019 was performed. Results Overall, 27 males and 23 females were enrolled, with an average age of 57.6 ± 15.6 years. The primary symptoms included, cough (n = 37), expectoration (n = 25), sputum with blood (n = 12), and chest pain (n = 12). Two individuals had Hodgkin's lymphoma and 48 patients had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). We divided the NHL cases into mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT) (n = 21), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (n = 12), small lymphocytic lymphoma (n = 2), mantle B-cell lymphoma (n = 2), follicular lymphoma (n = 1), B-cell lymphoma without further classification (n = 8), and T-cell lymphoma (n = 2). The imaging findings revealed that unilateral lung involvement was more common among the patients. The longest follow-up duration up to December 2019 was 123 months with 40 surviving patients. The 5-year overall survival and progression-free survival were 46.7% and 44.4%, respectively. Age was an independent predictive factor for the 5-year survival (hazard ratio, 8.900; P = .038), (P  less then  .05). Conclusion PPL is a uncommon disease with atypical clinical manifestations and is often misdiagnosed. Immunohistochemistry is currently the standard used in pathologic evaluation of PPL. MALT prognosis is better in contrast with other kinds of PPL. Surgery or radiotherapy can be considered in patients with limited lesions, and chemotherapy is the first treatment option for diffuse lesions. Age of ≥ 60 years was reported as an independent adverse predictive factor. Our brain is protected by physio-biological barriers. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) main mechanism of protection relates to the abundance of tight junctions (TJs) and efflux pumps. Although BBB is crucial for healthy brain protection against toxins, it also leads to failure in a devastating disease like brain cancer. Recently, nanocarriers have been shown to pass through the BBB and improve patients' survival rates, thus becoming promising treatment strategies. Among nanocarriers, inorganic nanocarriers, solid lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, polymers, micelles, and dendrimers have reached clinical trials after delivering promising results in preclinical investigations. The size of these nanocarriers is between 10 and 1000 nm and is modified by surface attachment of proteins, peptides, antibodies, or surfactants. Multiple research groups have reported transcellular entrance as the main mechanism allowing for these nanocarriers to cross BBB. Transport proteins and transcellular lipophilic pathways exist in BBB for small and lipophilic molecules. Nanocarriers cannot enter via the paracellular route, which is limited to water-soluble agents due to the TJs and their small pore size. There are currently several nanocarriers in clinical trials for the treatment of brain cancer. This article reviews challenges as well as fitting attributes of nanocarriers for brain tumor treatment in preclinical and clinical studies.
Previous studies have suggested that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was associated with a decreased rate of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Data on how the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced mortality, seasonality of, and susceptibility to AECOPD in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) population is scarce.

We conducted a national population-based retrospective study using data from the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia from 2015 to February 2021, with 2015-2019 as the reference. We extracted patient and healthcare data for AECOPD, dividing AECOPD into severe, resulting in hospitalisation, and moderate, requiring outpatient care. The national COPD population was generated based on dispensed prescriptions of inhalation therapies, and moderate AECOPD events were analysed based on dispensed AECOPD medications. We extracted data on all-cause and non-COVID mortality.

The numbers of severe and moderate AECOPD were reduced by 48% and 34%, ron-COVID mortality in the COPD population.
In the pandemic year, we found decreased susceptibility to AECOPD across severity spectrum of COPD, reversed seasonal distribution of severe AECOPD and decreased non-COVID mortality in the COPD population. The popularity of plant bioactive ingredients has become increasingly apparent in the food industry. However, these plant bioactive ingredients have many deficiencies, including low water solubility, poor stability, and unacceptable odor. Cyclodextrins (CDs), as cyclic molecules, have been extensively studied as superb vehicles of plant bioactive ingredients. These CD inclusion compounds could be added into various film matrices to fabricate bioactive food packaging materials. Therefore, in the present review, we summarized the extraction methods of plant bioactive ingredients, the addition of these CD inclusion compounds into thin-film materials, and their applications in food packaging. Furthermore, the release model and mechanism of active film materials based on various plant bioactive ingredients with CDs were highlighted. Finally, the current challenges and new opportunities based on these film materials have been discussed.
Lung transplantation (LT) is the gold standard for various end-stage chronic lung diseases and could be a salvage therapeutic option in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, LT is uncertain in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related ARDS who failed to recover despite optimal management including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This study aims to describe the pooled experience of LT for patients with severe COVID-19-related ARDS in Korea.

A nationwide multicenter retrospective observational study was performed with consecutive LT for severe COVID-19-related ARDS in South Korea (June 2020-June 2021). Data were collected and compared with other LTs after bridging with ECMO from the Korean Organ Transplantation Registry.

Eleven patients with COVID-19-related ARDS underwent LT. The median age was 60.0 years [interquartile range (IQR), 57.5-62.5; six males]. All patients were supported with venovenous ECMO at LT listing and received rehabilitation before LT. Patients were transplanted at a median of 49 (IQR, 32-66) days after ECMO cannulation.
