Medical outcomes of distal vaginal as well as vulvar cancer helped by image-guided brachytherapy.
Traumatic supra-hepatic inferior vena cava (IVC) injury is rare and nearly universally fatal. We report an excellent outcome from a case involving severe injury of the suprahepatic and intra-pericardial IVC utilizing emergency cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest. The goal of this case report is to outline key factors that facilitated the patient's survival of extensive IVC injury. We conclude that aggressive prehospital fluid resuscitation, facile transfer to the operating room, early detection of anatomy and pathology of the injury, an early decision to call for perfusion and cardiothoracic surgery, and prompt blood transfusion were the key factors that allowed for the patient to survive without deficits.Penetrating head trauma (PHT) includes any traumatic injury where an object pierces the skull and breaches the dural membrane surrounding the brain. PHTs are less prevalent than blunt head injuries. However, they often have more complex damage, worse prognosis, and higher rates of morbidity and mortality. An 83-year-old man fell at his home and hit his head on the right side toward a shoji (a Japanese-style paper sliding door). He reported to the emergency room the following day with his family. He had a small wound before the right ear, which was sutured in the emergency room. A CT scan demonstrated tiny pieces of bone fragments inside the brain, as well as right temporal subcortical hemorrhage and pneumocephalus. He was admitted to the hospital and received intensive prophylaxis with antibiotics. He developed life-threatening skin disease and subsequent acute kidney disease requiring hemodialysis. He fully recovered from his life-threatening condition. Here, we report an unprecedented case of a penetrating head injury of an older adult caused by a shoji.
Achondroplasia is the most common skeletal dysplasia, and total joint arthroplasty of the hip and/or knee in this patient population may present unique challenges.

All patients undergoing primary total hip or total knee arthroplasty (THA or TKA) for osteoarthritis in the 2010-2019 PearlDiver Mariner administrative database with least 90 days of postoperative follow-up were identified. Those with achondroplasia were matched 110 to patients without achondroplasia based on age, sex, and medical comorbidities. Ninety-day adverse events were assessed and compared using multivariate logistic regression. Five-year implant survival was determined and compared with Kaplan-Meier implant survival curves. Significance was set at
< .05.

For THA, 150 patients with achondroplasia were matched to 1484 patients without and had significantly higher 90 days odds of surgical site infection (odds ratio [OR]= 3.49,
= .005) and readmission (OR= 2.35,
= .016). For TKA, 285 patients with achondroplasia were matched toter THA or TKA, supporting confidence in longer term implant success. The study contains a dataset from survey on the opinions of labour migrants from Ukraine in Poland, collected at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants (conducted in May and June 2020) were 617 migrant workers from Ukraine who remained in Poland during the first period of the pandemic in Poland. Due to limitations in face-to-face contact, the survey was conducted online (Google Forms questionnaire). The developed questionnaire was available in three languages Ukrainian, Polish and Russian. The researchers were supported in sending the questionnaire by NGOs, Ukrainian minority organisations, as well as labour migrants from Ukraine who had participated in previous research conducted by the team. The questionnaire contained 34 questions (in three languages Ukrainian, Polish and Russian), including attribute variables of the participants). CDK assay Questions addressed issues such as perception of COVID risks, changes in the respondent's labor market situation, and assessment of their quality-of-life changes. The study will contribute to the knowledge of institutions and NGOs that work with labour migrants. The data collected provides a starting point for comparing the situation of migrant workers one year after the pandemic. The results of the study can be taken into account when planning migration management in the host country.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) surface glycoproteins deposited to the NCBI GenBank from Europe, by the mid of April 2021 (12.04.2021) were analysed. At least one amino acid mutation relative to YP_009724390.1 referent SARS-CoV-2 surface glycoprotein Wuhan-Hu-1 complete genome (NCBI accession NC_045512) was found in 788 SARS-CoV-2 surface glycoproteins. Data was computed by NCBI Cobalt multiple alignment tool [1] (one country by another) and structured by special purpose application developed in Visual Studio 2019. Advanced data structures were used to organize computed data. Linked dataset lists program output SARS-CoV-2 surface glycoprotein mutations per processed protein.Klutuk Wulung banana (Musa balbisiana Colla, BB Group) is a climacteric fruit whose ripening is influenced by ethylene production. This banana fruit has a relatively slow ripening process time and long shelf-life compared with A genome banana (Musa acuminata, AA). Bananas are usually harvested at a pre-climacteric stage and ripened artificially by exogenous ethylene. Hence, the application of exogenous ethylene at the pre-climacteric stage can accelerate the Klutuk Wulung banana ripening. However, there is no report regarding the effect of exogenous ethylene treatment on Klutuk Wulung banana global gene expression. The knowledge of global gene expression of ethylene treated Klutuk Wulung banana will help to understand this fruit ripening process. In this study, global gene expression data of untreated and ethylene treated Klutuk Wulung banana fruit during ripening were available. Total RNA was extracted from fruit pulp for differential expressed gene analysis using RNA-Seq. The RNA-Seq results obtained were ranged from 34,565,252 to 44,752,129 total reads, with 80.5% to 86.7% of reads were mapped against Klutuk Wulung banana genome reference derived from The Banana Genome Hub. In total, 29,968,128 to 37,776,907 transcripts were detected. The transcriptome data discussed in this article were deposited into NCBI's Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) Series with an accession number GSE162077. These data can be used as information to identify gene candidates involved in fruit ripening for the application in banana postharvest program. This scientific data article is related to the research work entitled "Non-Covalent functionalization of Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes with Fe-/Co-porphyrin and Co-phthalocyanine for Field-Effect Transistor Applications" published in "Organic electronics" (10.1016/j.orgel.2021.106212). In this work, we present the data of morphological, chemical and structural analyses of non-covalent functionalization of SWNTs with Co-porphyrin and Co-phthalocyanine. The analyses were performed by Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy as well as the electrical characterization of CNTFETs. This work is completed by the data of the theoretical calculations performed using Density Functional Theory (DFT).This dataset considers the statistical evaluation of groundwater quality for irrigation purposes in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The evaluation is based on calculating Irrigation Water Quality Index (IWQI), Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Sodium Percentage (%Na), and Permeability Index (PI). The article represents raw data and statistical analysis for 145 groundwater well samples which took place from January until April 2018, where each sample was analyzed for the following main physio-chemical parameters including pH, EC, HCO3 -, TDS, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, and Cl-. The outcomes of the IWQI showed that 52% of the samples were categorized under severe irrigation restrictions, where groundwater can be used for irrigation of high salt tolerance crops only. While, 44% of the investigated sites located within the high restriction category, 3% within moderate restriction, and 1% within the low irrigation restriction category. Moreover, the data has been used to find other irrigation water quality indices such as Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Sodium Ratio (%Na), and Permeability Index (PI). These indices provided a guidance for evaluating the problems that might be developed in soil due to current irrigation practices in the study area. Furthermore, statistical analysis provided a deeper understanding of the relationship and data trends among the different physio-chemical parameters and water quality indices.Moxifloxacin and levofloxacin are currently recommended as empirical initial treatment options for community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in China by clinical guidelines and widely used in clinical settings. Several clinical outcomes comparing the efficacy and safety profiles of moxifloxacin versus levofloxacin through a meta-analysis were reported in paper 'Clinical benefits and cost-effectiveness of moxifloxacin as initial treatment for community-acquired pneumonia a meta-analysis and economic evaluation'. In this dataset, we aimed at investigating more clinical endpoints comparing the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin and levofloxacin in the treatment of CAP.
To provide consultative information on selecting potential indications of stem cells in the treatment of non-tumorous and non-hematopoietic system conditions, we screened the clinical trials on website http//www.clinicaltrials.gov.

A literature search was conducted using the National Institute of Health (NIH) website (http//www.clinicaltrials.gov) from May 10th, 2012 to Oct 13th, 2020 with stem cells as an intervention in human trials for non-tumorous and non-hematological conditions. There was no restriction for language, research location, and research race.

Search terms initially found a total of 3576 articles. Firstly, 138 terminated or suspended studies were excluded and further 24 repeated studies were excluded. Secondly, 987 tumorous and hematopoietic conditions-related studies were excluded. Lastly, 1218 studies were excluded without stem cell therapy as their primary purpose. A total of 1209 research studies were entered into the analysis and reviewed. The top 4 diseases were about motor systemses 229 (19.28%). In addition, 206 (17.34%) studies were related to central nervous system (CNS) diseases. 140 (11.78%) were autoimmune diseases or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after organ transplantation. 129 (10.86%) were about respiratory system diseases, among them, 44.19% projects were about new coronary pneumonia (NCP). The main cell types used in various diseases are Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs), bone marrow stem cells (BM-SCs), peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), adipose stem cell (ASCs) and precursor cells.
Gene therapy have recently attracted much attention as a curative therapeutic option for inherited single gene disorders such as hemophilia. Hemophilia is a hereditary bleeding disorder caused by the deficiency of clotting activity of factor VIII (FVIII) or factor IX (FIX), and gene therapy for hemophilia using viral vector have been vigorously investigated worldwide. Toward further advancement of gene therapy for hemophilia, we have previously developed and validated the efficacy of novel two types of gene transfer technologies using a mouse model of hemophilia A. Here we investigated the efficacy and safety of the technologies in canine model. Especially, validations of technical procedures of the gene transfers for dogs were focused.

Green fluorescence protein (GFP) gene were transduced into normal beagle dogs by
and
gene transfer techniques. For
gene transfer, blood outgrowth endothelial cells (BOECs) derived from peripheral blood of normal dogs were transduced with GFP gene using lentivirus vector, propagated, fabricated as cell sheets, then implanted onto the omentum of the same dogs.
