The first weather radar campaign over Lima, the capital of Peru, a desertic area on the western side of the Peruvian Andes, was carried out to study the occurrence of rain events in summer 2018. The weather radar was installed strategically and was able to overlook three river basins Rimac, Chillón, and Lurin. An X-band radar (PX-1000) was used, which operates at 9.55 GHz. PX-1000 was built by the Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC) at the University of Oklahoma (U.S.A.). The radar operated from January 26th to April 1st, 2018, at Cerro Suche located 2910 m ASL and 55 km from the city of Lima. The PX-1000 performed plan-position-indicators (PPI) for elevations starting at 0° up to 20°. The data presented here were obtained using a three-dimensional constant-altitude plan-position-indicator (3D CAPPI), which was generated by high resolution (250 m) nearest point algorithm.This article describes the data, data flows, and spreadsheet implementations for linking multi-level contribution margin accounting as a subsystem in cost accounting with several versions of a multi-level fixed-charge problem (MLFCP), the latter based on the optimization approach in operations research. This linkage can reveal previously hidden optimization potentials within the framework of multi-level contribution margin accounting, thus providing better information for decision making in companies and other organizations. For the data, plausible fictitious values have been assumed taking into consideration the calculation principles in cost accounting where applicable. They include resource-related data, market-related data, and data from cost accounting needed to analyze the profitability of a company´s products and organizational entities in the presence of hierarchically structured fixed costs. The data are processed and analyzed by means of mathematical optimization techniques and sensitivity analysis. and c) by instructors in academia who may find the data and spreadsheets valuable for classroom use in advanced courses. The complete spreadsheet implementations in the form of three ready-to-use Excel files (deterministic, stochastic, and robust version) are available for download at Mendeley Data. They may serve as customizable templates for various use cases in research, practice, and education.The data presented in this data article were collected at three points in the 2012-2013 academic year; Fall 2012, Spring 2013, and Summer 2013 from undergraduate students enrolled in an introductory health education course at a large university in the United States. The data regarding undergraduate students' perceptions of and experiences with the campus emergency notification system were ascertained using a self-administered online-delivered survey instrument. The data included in the Mendeley Data repository affiliated with this data article encompass closed- and open-ended responses from 746 undergraduate students. Closed-ended questions included items based on central constructs from Technology Acceptance Model research-perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitudes toward use, and behavioral intention. In experiments, three different lay-ups are applied tension loading until specimens' failure. The surface water quality parameters, which include the temperature, salinity, chlorophyll-a and nutrients (ammonia, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate) were sampled twice per day (high and low tides) at a total of eight stations. Hourly current speed and direction was obtained from mooring of two units of current meters. Compared to the Malaysia Marine Water Quality Criteria and Standard (MWQCS), nutrients in Setiu Lagoon were in Class 2. The data corresponding to the Hirshfeld surface analysis is given.Treatment of burn injuries with Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is a great promise due to their unique properties. As two natural and functional wound dressing, Chitosan and Aloe-Vera gel assist wound regeneration by providing a proper environment. In the current study, we aimed to compare the effect of encapsulated BMSCs in Chitosan-based gel and Aloe-Vera gel on the healing of grade-II burn injuries compared to other groups in the rat. After creation of a 2 × 2 cm grade-II burn on dorsal skin of rats, treatments were performed for each group. The wound closure rate and healing properties were evaluated by histopathological analysis on 7, 14, 21 and, 28 days post-treatment. The expression rate of VEGF, Collagen-I and Collagen-III genes was also assessed on days 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 performing qRT-PCR. The full wound healing with inconsiderable scar formation was achieved for Aloe-vera/BMSCs and Chitosan/BMSCs group on 28th day post-treatment. Pathological results also demonstrated the highest angiogenesis and granulation tissue formation for Aloe-vera/BMSCs and Chitosan/BMSCs groups respectively. The expression level of VEGF, Collagen-I, and Collagen-III genes was significantly higher in these groups on days 14 and 21, compared to other groups. Results demonstrated the synergistic effect of BMSCs when combined with Chitosan or Aloe-vera gel enhanced the healing process of wound healing more than chitosan gel treatment. Therefore, this gel can be considered as effective approaches for treatment of burn injuries.
The present study focused on burning as one of the main causes of mortality with detrimental economic and social effects in the world. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of collagen-chitosan gel extracted from
and shrimp skin in the treatment of second degree burn healing among rats.
To fulfill the purpose of the study, chitosan and collagen were extracted respectively from shrimp and
skin waste by the acid-based method and were evaluated by using Pico Tag, SDS-PAGE. The burn wound healing efficiency of marine collagen-chitosan gel was examined invivo using rats. Three different ratios of collagen and chitosan blend (Col-CH, 13, 11 and 31) were prepared to obtain the most effective Col-CH gel for burn wound healing and were compared to the animals treated with silver sulfadiazine ointment. link3 Healing burn wound was studied by measuring wound surface area with Image J and histopathologic examination was carried out based on the mean of epithelialization, fibroblastic cells, acute an was composed of two α (α1 and α2) chains. Amino acid analysis showed a much higher glaycin content in extracted collagen which amounted to one-third of the total amino. The wound surface measurement showed a significant reduction in wound size in the group treated with Col-CH (31) compared to silver-sulfadiazine treated group on 15th and 25th days. Histopathological findings represented a high score in epithelialization, collagen, collagen structure, fibroblast cell and a decrease in inflammatory cells infiltration in Col-CH (31) treated group on 25th day. The most obvious finding of the present study is that chitosan-collagen gel (31) represented a better efficacy compared to sulfadiazine in burn wound healing on day 25 post-burn.
The formation of a secondary liver is expected in ectopic transplants in liver therapy. It is reported that the transplantation of hepatocyte sheets constitutes one of the techniques used to form a secondary liver. Accordingly, we established a subcutaneous transplant for hepatocyte/fibroblast sheets in previous studies. In this development study with hepatocyte/fibroblast sheets, we evaluated the differences in transplantation sites to promote the maturation of transplanted tissue in a liver injury model.
A cocultured hepatocyte sheet of fibroblasts (TIG-118 cells) and human hepatocytes (PXB cells) was prepared on a temperature-responsive culture dish. The prepared cocultured hepatocyte sheet was either transplanted subcutaneously or on the liver surface of a persistent liver injury model (cDNA-uPA/SCID mouse uPA mouse), and was evaluated by the human albumin concentration in mouse blood. As a control group, hepatocyte cell sheets were used that were transplanted to both areas and compared.
Although the cocultured hepatocyte sheet led to functional improvements in the early stages of culture in subcutaneous transplantation, these did not last in the long-term after transplantation. Although coculture effects were not observed in the liver surface transplantation case, long-term functional expressions in mono- and cocultured sheets in the case of liver surface transplantation were exhibited compared with subcutaneous administration.
These results suggest that sustained stimulation of liver regenerationvaries depending on the transplant site and is largely involved in the maturation of hepatocyte tissue.
These results suggest that sustained stimulation of liver regenerationvaries depending on the transplant site and is largely involved in the maturation of hepatocyte tissue.The cancer stem cell (CSC) hypothesis was proposed over 4 decades ago and states that tumor growth is maintained by a small subset of cancer cells analogous to normal tissue stem cells in terms of self-renewal and differentiation capacity. Advances in CSC isolation were initially achieved in hematological malignancies and later in solid tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the major histological type of liver cancer. Increasing evidence suggests the importance of liver CSCs for tumor growth, metastasis, and chemo/radiation resistance in HCC, but the application of the liver CSC concept for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of HCC has not yet been achieved to the extent initially expected. Furthermore, the heterogeneity and plasticity of liver CSCs has recently been noted and might be related to drug resistance and the rapid growth and/or metastasis of the tumor after treatment. Here, we introduce our recent advancement in liver CSC research and discuss the clinical implications, which may lead to the development of improved diagnostics and treatment in HCC.
