The POLARx showed a lower balloon temperature at TTI (POLARx -44 [-50, -36] °C, AFA -31 [-38, -21] °C, p < 0.001) and lower nadir temperature (POLARx -60 [-65, -55] °C, AFA -48 [-54, -45] °C, p < 0.001). Procedure time (POLARx 80 [60, 105] min, AFA 62 [42, 80] min, p < 0.001), fluoroscopy time (POLARx 17 [13, 22] min, AFA 11 [7, 16] min, p < 0.001) and freeze cycles per patient (POLARx 5 [4, 6], AFA 4.5 [4, 5], p = 0.002) were higher in the POLARx group. Two cerebral ischemic events occurred in the POLARx group, two patients in each group had phrenic nerve injury.

Many primary prevention heart failure (HF) patients with an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) rarely experience life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (VA). New strategies are required to identify patients most at risk of VA and sudden cardiac death who would benefit from an ICD. One potential method is the detection of fragmented QRS (fQRS) on the electrocardiogram. The aim was to assess the predictive capacity of fQRS for VA and mortality in ischemic (ICM) and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) primary prevention HF patients.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies examining fQRS in HF patients with or without an ICD who met primary prevention indications with reduced ejection fraction ≤40%. Outcome measures were VA (or appropriate ICD therapy) and all-cause mortality. Ten studies involving 3885 patients were included for analysis. Most patients were male with non-fQRS patients being significantly younger (-1.5[-2.66, -0.42], p=.03). Diabetes was more likely in fQRS patients (1.12[1.01, 1.25], p=.03) while non-fQRS patients were 28% more likely to have a history of atrial fibrillation (0.82[0.67,1.00], p=.05). Ventricular arrhythmias were significantly 1.5 times more likely in patients with fQRS (1.51[1.02, 2.25], p=.04). HF patients were 1.7 times more likely to die of any cause if fQRS was present (1.68[1.13, 2.52], p=.01). NICM patients with fQRS have a significant 2.6-fold increased incidence of death compared with ICM patients (2.55[1.63, 3.98], p<.0001).

Women encounter unique barriers to accessing treatment for their SUDs and commonly report higher perceptions of stigma around their substance use. Currently, there is a paucity of women-specific treatment options that address their perception of stigma and shame regarding SUDs. The Women of the West (WOW) programme is a pilot study that explores the subjective acceptability and feasibility of participating in a recreational and relational skill development group for women with SUDs. The pilot study adopts qualitative research methods including focus groups and interviews with ten participants who self-identify as women experiencing SUDs and two programme facilitators. The programme's primary aim is to promote participants' relational skills with peers in an enjoyable, and therapeutic environment. It is anticipated as participants develop their relational skills with peers, their sense of stigma regarding their SUDs and social isolation will decrease. Ultimately this can promote their long-term recovery from SUDs and overall well-being. The clinical value of endometrial receptivity array (ERA), endometrial immune profiling, or a combination of both for multiple implantation failure patients is unclear.

One hundred and seventy-two women with a history of at least two or more consecutive implantation failures in IVF/ICSI treatment were included. According to patients' willingness, they were divided into four groups, 'no treatment', 'Immune Profiling', 'ERA' and 'ERA + Immune Profiling'. Endometrial biopsy was examined by ERA, immune profiling alone, or combination, and intention was adopted accordingly. Pregnancy outcomes were compared, and the association between ERA phases and endometrial immune profiling was also assessed.

The overall incidence rate of the displaced window of implantation (WOI) and endometrial immune dysregulations were 84.9% and 75.3%, respectively. Implantation rate was significantly higher in the 'ERA + Immune Profiling' group than the 'no treatment' group (P = 0.007). To estimate the prevalence of children with problem drinking parents in Sweden and the extent to which they have an elevated risk of poor health, social relationships and school situation in comparison with other children.

Survey with a nationally representative sample of Swedish youth aged 15-16 years (n=5576) was conducted in 2017. A short version of The Children of Alcoholics Screening Test (CAST-6) was used to identify children with problem drinking parents. Health status, social relations and school situation were measured by well-established measures. Overall prevalences for girls and boys were presented as well as relative risks (RR) of harm for children with problem drinking parents compared with other children.

A total of 13.1% of the sample had at least one problem drinking parent during adolescence according to CAST-6-a higher proportion of girls (15.4%) than boys (10.8%). This group had an elevated risk of poor general health as well psychosomatic problems compared with other children (RR 1.2-1.9). They were also more likely to use medication for depression, sleeping difficulties and anxiety (RR 2.2-2.6). Their social relations were also worse especially with their father (RR 3.1) and they had more problems at school (RR 2.6).

In the present study, we searched for correlates of deviance detection in auditory brainstem responses obtained in anaesthetised bats (Carollia perspicillata). In an oddball paradigm, we used two pure tone stimuli that represented the main frequencies used by the animal during echolocation (60 kHz) and communication (20 kHz). For both stimuli, we could demonstrate significant differences of response strength between deviant and standard response in slow and fast components of the auditory brainstem response. The data suggest the presence of correlates of deviance detection in brain stations below the IC, at the level of the cochlea nucleus and lateral lemniscus. Additionally, our results suggest that deviance detection is mainly driven by repetition suppression in the echolocation frequency band, while in the communication band, a deviant-related enhancement of the response plays a more important role. This finding suggests a contextual dependence of the mechanisms underlying subcortical deviance detection.
