However, there were quite a few samples with different origins or different storage ages overlapped and could not be distinguished from each other. In order to achieve qualitative identification of origin and storage age, Savitzky-Golay convolution smoothing with first derivative (SGFD) and standard normal variate (SNV) were used to preprocess the raw spectra. Random forest (RF), K-nearest neighbor (KNN) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were used to establish the discriminant model. The results showed that SGFD-LDA could accurately distinguish the origin and storage age of tangerine peel at the same time. The origin identification accuracy was 96.99%. The storage age identification accuracy was 100% for Guangdong tangerine peel and 97.15% for Sichuan tangerine peel. This indicated that the near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) combine with machine learning can simultaneously and rapidly identify the origin and storage age of tangerine peel on site. The widespread use of Hydrazine (N2H4) in many areas of the chemical industry, brings potential risks to human health and environmental pollution. To detect N2H4 effectively, a simple ratio fluorescence probe (QMM), designed and synthesized through Vilsmeier reaction and Knoevenagel reaction, was prepared for the specific response of N2H4 based on the irreversible chemical reaction. The ratiometric fluorescence chemodosimeter displayed a response for hydrazine with high selectivity, sensitivity and anti-interference ability. The measured detection limit is 38.30 nm (0.122 ppb), which is far lower than the maximum allowable level of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (10 ppb). Moreover, test paper and TLC plates loading QMM had been made, which could be utilized to detect hydrazine both in aqueous solution samples and in gas phase samples. Thus QMM could serve as an easily manufactured, low-cost, efficient and portable solid-state optical probe to detect hydrazine in field measurements.Automatic skin lesion analysis in terms of skin lesion segmentation and disease classification is of great importance. However, these two tasks are challenging as skin lesion images of multi-ethnic population are collected using various scanners in multiple international medical institutes. To address them, most recent works adopt convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for skin lesion analysis. However, due to the intrinsic locality of the convolution operator, CNNs lack the ability to capture contextual information and long-range dependency. To improve the baseline performance established by CNNs, we propose a Fully Transformer Network (FTN) to learn long-range contextual information for skin lesion analysis. FTN is a hierarchical Transformer computing features using Spatial Pyramid Transformer (SPT). SPT has linear computational complexity as it introduces a spatial pyramid pooling (SPP) module into multi-head attention (MHA)to largely reduce the computation and memory usage. We conduct extensive skin lesion analysis experiments to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of FTN using ISIC 2018 dataset. Our experimental results show that FTN consistently outperforms other state-of-the-art CNNs in terms of computational efficiency and the number of tunable parameters due to our efficient SPT and hierarchical network structure. The code and models will be public available at https//github.com/Novestars/Fully-Transformer-Network.Siderite was applied to the binary oxidant system of siderite-catalyzed hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and enhanced with persulfate (PS). In the absence of PS, methyl orange (MO) almost could not be degraded by the siderite/H2O2 process. However, adding PS significantly improved the capacity of MO to oxidize azo-dye. The influence of individual and interaction of reaction factors have been explored with a simple response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD). The quadratic model with low probabilities ( less then 0.0001) at a confidence level of 95% was satisfactory to predict MO degradation in siderite/H2O2/PS system, whose correlation coefficients of R2 and R2-adj were 0.9569 and 0.9264, respectively. Moreover, the optimum operation conditions of 21.20 mM, 2.75 g/L, 3.86 mM, and 4.69 for H2O2, siderite, PS and initial pH, respectively with the response of C/C0 around 0.047. Radical scavenging experiments and electron spin resonance (ESR) determined that ·OH was crucial for MO degradation, while the contribution of SO4·- was minor. The surface morphology and iron content of siderite before and after the oxidation process showed clear differences. Possible intermediates and a degradation pathway were proposed based on the results of UV-Vis spectral and GC-MS analysis. Moreover, the toxicity to Vibrio fischeri bioluminescent bacterium has increased in the earlier degradation stage due to the generated by-products and weaken with the continuous treatment. This study demonstrated that the siderite/H2O2/PS system was effective over a relatively wide pH range without producing secondary pollutants, making it a promising technology and potential environmentally benign approach to azo-dye wastewater treatment.Aquaculture recently became the main source of global seafood production and many countries, including the United States, see potential in marine aquaculture to sustainably fill growing demand. The U.S. supports the majority of its seafood consumption through imports, and therefore identifying bottlenecks to domestic aquaculture growth is a priority at the federal and state level. Yet, one critical aspect that appears not yet addressed is the quality and accessibility of marine aquaculture data. In this study we conducted the first multi-state synthesis and comparison of the most comprehensive suite of species, volume, and value information on U.S. marine aquaculture over time, across the 23 marine coastal states. Using publicly available data sources from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), state-level solicited data that we aggregated, and data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we found strong evidence that marine aquaculture has played an increasingly important role in marine coastal states, but also uncovered numerous data gaps and discrepancies between and within these sources. read more In particular, we found a dearth of volumetric data and millions in missing value (USD$). We found U.S. marine aquaculture is likely much more diverse, abundant and valuable than is currently reported, but the main sources of error in any given state remain unclear. We recommend U.S. state governments adopt a standardized, digital and annual data collection program, such as the NOAA Fisheries Information Networks. Better strategic aquaculture planning, management, and research depend on accurate data, and existing digital data infrastructures provide strong opportunities for improvement.Nanotechnology holds huge potential for the prevention of various viral outbreaks that have increased at a disquieting rate over the past decades. Metal oxide nanomaterials with oxidative capability are the effective materials that provide platforms as well as tools for the well understanding of the mechanism, its detection, and treatment of various viral diseases like measles, influenza, herpes, ebola, current COVID-19 etc. In this inclusive review, we survey various previous research articles on different notable photoactive transition metal oxides that possess enough potential to act as antiviral agents for the deactivation of harmful viruses. We investigated and highlighted the plausible photocatalytic oxidative mechanism of photoactive transition metal oxides in degrading viral coatings, genomic RNA using suitable free radical generation. The key finding of the present review article including the discovery of a vision on the suitable photocatalytic transition metal oxides that have been proven to be excellent against harmful viruses and consequently combatting deadly CoV-2 in the environment. This review intends to provide conclusive remarks and a realistic outlook on other advanced photocatalytic metal oxides as a potential solution in battling other similar upcoming pandemics. As a burgeoning advanced oxidation process (AOP), heterogeneous activation of persulfate (PS) for synthetic refractory contaminants decontamination has recently received much attention. In this study, FeS was selected as a heterogeneous PS activator to facilitate the degradation of a typical recalcitrant contaminant of diazo dye Direct Red 81 (DR 81). The results showed that approximately 95% of 0.03 mM DR 81 was removed within 60 min with FeS and PS doses of 1.5 × 10-3 M. The efficient decomposition of DR 81 by the FeS/PS system was assumed to be mainly attributed to the highly reactive SO4-• and •OH, which was related to PS cleavage by both dissolved Fe2+ leached from FeS and Fe2+ bound on the FeS surface. Except for strongly alkaline conditions, DR 81 decolorations by FeS/PS were insignificantly affected by operational parameters such as temperature, initial solution pH, and rotate speed. Meanwhile, the presence of five inorganic anions being studied had distinct impacts on DR 81 degradation and followed a strict order of NO3- less then Cl- less then SO42- less then CO32- less then PO43-. However, FeS/PS system was highly adaptable, and FeS, which is used as a PS activator was more stable. GC/MS and TOC data revealed that thorough mineralization of DR 81 by PS/FeS in an initial fast reaction phase to transform DR 81 to aromatic intermediates, followed by a slow reaction phase that mineralized these organic intermediates into carboxylic acids and carbon dioxide through further oxidation. In this study, 3D BiOI nanoparticle (BOI NPs) modified MgCr2O4 nanoparticle (MCO NPs) was fabricated by simple sonochemical and coprecipitation method for the enhanced photocatalytic activity. The morphological structure of the MgCr2O4-BiOI nanocomposite (MCO-BOI NCs) was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), electron impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and photo luminescence (PL). The lower in the PL intensity and small arc in EIS for NCs shows the effective charge separation and lower in rate of recombination of charge carriers in NCs than the pure MCO and BOI NPs. The degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B (RhB) and malachite green (MG) by MCO-BOI NCs was found to be 99.5% and 98.2% receptivity. In addition, the photocatalytic degradation of RhB and MG was studied under various environmental parameters (different pH, varying the concentration of NCs and dyes) and response surface (RSM) plot was performed. The complete mineralization of RhB and MG by MCO-BOI NCs was determined by TOC. In addition, the photocatalytic degradation pathway was elucidated based on GC-MS results and Fukui function. In addition, the toxicity of intermediate formed during the degradation of RhB and MG was predicted by ECOSAR. The present work highlights the application of MCO-BOI NCs in environmental remediation for toxic pollutant removal.Understanding the perception, use, and prioritization of ecosystem services (ES) is important for shaping local environmental policies. This study assessed for the Cordillera Region, Philippines, Indigenous peoples (IPs) perception on the significance of ES for their well-being, influence of socio-economic factors attributing to these perceptions, and ranked the most valued ES. Face-to-face interviews were conducted using a semi-structured questionnaires with 922 households in 48 villages of the Region. We found that most frequently identified and valued ES are provisioning (food, income, and medicinal resources) followed by cultural and regulating ES. The study showed signficant influence (p-value 0.001) of ethnicity, occupation, gender, and age to affect local perceptions of ES provided by the landscapes. A remarkable differences appeared in prioritizing ES, e.g. younger local respondents value ES more than older ones; women have appreciated most ES; and ethnic groupings tend to have a different value of ES that are significantly connected with the landscape characteristics.
