High expression of lncRNA NEAT1 predicted poor overall survival in BC patients. Silencing of expression of lncRNA NEAT1 inhibited epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and suppressed the proliferation, migration and invasion of BC cells. Ectopic expression of lncRNA NEAT1 induced EMT and promoted BC progression. Mechanistic investigations revealed that miR-146b-5p was a direct target of lncRNA NEAT1, and its expression was correlated negatively with expression of lncRNA NEAT1 in BC tissues.

lncRNA NEAT1 could (i) serve as a novel prognostic marker for BC and (ii) be a potential therapeutic target for BC.

Obesity has an important role in the pathogenesis of cancer; however, there are no clear mechanisms explaining the association between obesity and risk of thyroid cancer (TC).

It is a cross-sectional study including 184 patients with benign thyroid nodules (BN) and 19 patients with TC. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), waist/hip (W/H) ratio were assessed and correlated to relevant clinico-pathological features of the patients, different ultra-sonographic (U/S) criteria and risk of malignancy.

There was a significant increase in BMI, WC and W/H ratio in TC patients compared to BN group (P=0.001, 0.011 and 0.003). Increased BMI, WC and HC were associated significantly with solid nodules (P<0.05). WC increased in hypoechoic (103.1±15.4cm) and heterogeneous (103.8±16.7cm) nodules, compared to isoechoic (97.3±15.5cm) and hyperechoic (96.1±10cm) nodules (P=0.046). It also increased with lymph nodes enlargement (P=0.04). There was a significant association between WC and TIRADS classification (P=0.032), as it increased with TR4b (118.5 ± 12.9 cm) and TR5 (117.3 ± 13.9 cm) compared to TR2 (114.1 ± 15.7 cm, P=0.025 and 0.008, respectively). WC is an independent predictor for TC [OR 1.092, CI 1.020-1.170, P=0.012]. It achieved sensitivity, specificity and AUC (71.4%, 68.7% and 0.750; respectively), at a cutoff value of 108.5 cm (P=0.003), and when combined with BMI at a cutoff value of 32.59 (77.8% and 68.4%, respectively, AUC 0.780, P<0.001).

Central adiposity is strongly associated with the risk of TC. WC is more superior to BMI when correlated with TIRADS classification and also is an independent predictor for TC.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to be involved in a variety of cancers, including glioma. However, the exact role and underlying mechanism of lncRNA AGAP2 antisense RNA 1 (AGAP2-AS1) in glioma have not yet been fully elucidated.

The expression levels of AGAP2-AS1, microRNA-628-5p (miR-628-5p) and pleiotrophin (PTN) were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion were detected by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, flow cytometry, transwell assay, respectively. Western blot assay was used to detect the protein level of PTN. The interaction between miR-628-5p and AGAP2-AS1 or PTN was predicted by bioinformatics software and confirmed by the dual-luciferase reporter and RNA Immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays. Murine xenograft model was established to confirm the role of AGAP2-AS1 in glioma progression in vivo.

AGAP2-AS1 expression was upregulated in glioma tissues and cells. Knockdown of AGAP2-AS1 inhibited thf glioma. In December 2019, a new coronavirus pneumonia began to break out globally. COVID-19 pandemic challenges the health systems worldwide and influences the treatments for other diseases. The incidence rate of breast cancer ranks first among all malignant tumors among women. During the pandemic, medical workers should strictly monitor the condition of patients and strengthen the management and prevention measures to make sure patients can be operated safely. This article will discuss the arrangements and management of surgical treatment for patients with breast cancer.
The aim of this study was to study the roles and potential mechanism of LINC00520 in the progression of lung cancer.

The expression of LINC00520 and miR-3175 in lung cancer tissues and cells was detected by qRT-PCR. The relationship between LINC00520 level and disease stage was also calculated. Kaplan-Meier survival curve was drawn to observe the survival difference between high and low expression patients. Lipofectamine 2000 was used to transfect siLINC00520, miR-3175 inhibitor and their controls in lung cancer cells. CCK8 and colony formation assay were processed for cell proliferation. Transwell assay was undertaken for migration and invasion of lung cancer cells. MiRDB predicts the combination of LINC00520 and miR-3175. Luciferase and RNA pulldown assay were applied to verify the binding site. Correlation analysis of miR-3175 and LINC00520 expression in lung cancer tissues was shown.

LINC00520 was highly expressed in lung cancer tissues and cells. Patients at III+IV stage were always with higher LINC00520 level than patients at I+II stage. Patients with high expression of lncRNA LINC00520 have short survival time (hazard ratio=1.7). Knockdown of LINC00520 inhibited proliferation, invasion and migration of lung cancer cells. LINC00520 targeted and negatively regulated miR-3175 (r=-0.528; P<0.001). MiR-3175 inhibitor rescued the effect of si-LINC00520 on lung cancer progression.

LncRNA LINC00520 could predict poor prognosis and promote progression of lung cancer by inhibiting miR-3175 expression.

This period of neurobehavioral recovery can be further confounded by pain, anxiety, and fear. The implementation of monitoring for level of consciousness, pain, and delirium using valid pediatric tools is necessary to avoid misdiagnosis due to overlapping symptomatology and support appropriate management. Understanding the epidemiology of delirium in the postoperative setting will require consistent use of accurate terminology in the medical literature. The current interchangeable use of the terms "emergence agitation" and "emergence delirium" needs to be highlighted and awareness of differences in patient conditions and assessment tools is essential. We discuss epidemiology of emergence agitation and delirium in the pediatric population, and the challenges for future delineation of monitoring and management. Furthermore, we describe the possible impact of long-term consequences of emergence delirium among infants and children, and the necessary areas of future research.Resistant hypertension is an important subtype of hypertension that leads to an increased risk of cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, and kidney disease. click here The revised guidelines from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association now define resistant hypertension as blood pressure that remains above goal despite use of three maximally titrated anti-hypertensive medications including a diuretic or as a hypertensive patient who requires 4 or more agents for adequate BP control. These agents typically include a calcium-channel blocker, a renin-angiotensin system inhibitor, and a diuretic at maximal or maximally tolerated doses. As recognition of resistant hypertension increases, it is important to distinguish pseudo-resistant or apparent hypertension from true resistant hypertension. Etiologies of apparent resistant hypertension include measurement error and medication non-adherence. The prevalence of true resistant hypertension is likely much lower than reported in the literature when accounting for patients with apparent resistant hypertension. Evaluation of patients with true resistant hypertension includes screening for causes of secondary hypertension and interfering medications. Successful management of resistant hypertension includes lifestyle modification and optimization of medical therapy, often including the use of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists. Looking ahead at developments in hypertension management, a slew of new device-based therapies are under active development. Of these, renal denervation is the closest to routine clinical application. Further study is needed before these devices can be recommended in the routine treatment of resistant hypertension.
This study aimed to compare functional capacity tests between individuals with and without chronic non-specific low back pain and to investigate the effects of demographic data on functional capacity tests.

Thirty individuals with chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP) and thirty healthy individuals underwent three functional capacity tests comprising functional reach test (FRT), five-time sit to stand test (5 TSST), and two-minute step test (2 MST). CNSLBP were assessed in pain intensity using a visual analog scale (VAS) and disability level using the modified Oswestry disability questionnaire (MODQ) Thai version.

The results found significant differences in five-time sit to stand and two-minute step tests between individuals with chronic non-specific low back pain and healthy individuals. The mean differences between healthy and CNSLBP for the 5 TSST were -3.24 seconds (95% CI=-4.47--2.02) and for the 2 MST they were 13.13 steps (95% CI=2.62-23.64). Age significantly influenced the 5 TSST (
=0.004) and 2 MST (
=0.008), while gender (
=0.028) and height (
=0.002) affected the FRT.

Individuals with chronic non-specific low back pain had lower functional capacity assessed by five-time sit to stand and 2-minute step tests compared to healthy individuals, and the therapeutic programs were emphasized. With increasing age, the 5 TSST and 2 MST would both be declined.

Identifying the optimal treatment in an acute postoperative setting remains a challenge. Multiple analgesic options are available, but comparing outcomes is limited by a lack of head-to-head trials. In addition, decisions based on efficacy only do not take drug safety into account. In such cases, multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) can be utilized to quantify and compare the efficacy and safety data of various drugs.

The efficacy-safety profiles of eight parenteral, postoperative analgesics (acetaminophen, diclofenac, ketorolac, metamizole, morphine, nefopam, parecoxib, tramadol) widely used in Europe were evaluated using an MCDA model that included 17 criteria three for efficacy and 14 for safety. Each drug was scored on each criterion on a scale from 0 (worst) to 100 (best), according to published data and the judgment of an expert panel. A weighting process was then applied to standardize the impact of each criterion and adjust drugs' preference scores accordingly, normalizing them on the 0-100 scale.
