10 Places That You Can Find 3 Wheeled Buggies
3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is great for off-road walking & tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.

MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these 3-wheelers with her newborn and three year old, and put it through its paces on tarmac and on tricky ground. You can read her full review here.

Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child in the seat, buggies with four wheels are generally considered to be more stable than triwheelers. But that doesn't mean the three-wheel buggie isn't worth a look, since the majority of these models are made to withstand anything from rough terrain to busy high-streets.

Find a buggie with large rear wheels and one that locks on the front. This will make it easier to drive and less likely to fall apart on bumpy roads. These all-terrain buggies also have pneumatic tires, which are ideal for handling non-paved surfaces. They are able to be used even on sandy beaches or tracks in woodlands.

They're also excellent buggies to run with because they provide great stability in rough terrain and can aid you in staying with your running companion. They're also good at climbing and down steep kerbs too, and most of them have a built-in suspension which means your child will enjoy a comfortable ride.

A 3-wheeled stroller can be difficult to maneuver because of its wide frame. It is more difficult to get through doorways and narrow spaces than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have solved this problem with clever design that turns the wheels upside down when they are not in use. This reduces their size and makes them easier to squeeze through doorways.

If yes, look for a lie-flat position and also whether the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you plan to bring a toddler onboard). Find out if the buggy comes with the ability to lie flat, and if it is compatible with second seat and buggy boards, if you are planning to take your toddler along. A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat, and then be put up in a upright position. This is great if you only have an unwieldy boot space or have limited storage at home. Some 3-wheelers require you to remove the front wheel in order to fold them into smaller spaces.

Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies are more movable than strollers with four wheels. They usually come with a swivelling front wheel that allows you to change direction quickly and steer using just one hand. Some models come with a lockable wheel that can offer stability on rough terrain. Some models can even be used with an additional seat or buggy board if you're planning to expand your family.

If you're considering taking your three-wheeled buggy off paved tracks, it's worth choosing one equipped with tyres filled with air (also called pneumatic tyres) which can cope with the most challenging terrain. These tyres will need periodic pumping, but will be far more durable than tyres that are solid and more likely to be puncture-proof. You should look for models with a swiveling front wheel that can be locked to assist you in navigating tricky surfaces.

The fact that there is only one front wheel can also mean that three-wheelers tend to be bulkier than four-wheeled buggies when folded. Make sure the model you choose fits in the boot of your car and is able to be sat up should it be required. Certain models can be folded using one hand, and they stand up when collapsed. This can save space in a small car boot.

A well-constructed 3 wheel pushchair is able to cope with any terrain, from busy high streets to tracks through woodlands. But it's important to consider what you'll be using for your day-to-day use. If you'll be doing the school run, it should be able to cope with steep kerbs and slopes. If you'll be running with it, ensure it has a lockable swivelling'stretch' front wheel to ensure that the ride is stable.

MFM reviewer Kath discovered her three-wheeled buggy to be able to perform well on both the countryside and urban walks. She said that it navigated cobbles, rough paths and bumpy pavements effortlessly and was comfortable to jog with. It's also a great option for day trips since it has a lot of storage space. It comes with an enormous, spacious, zip-top basket that is covered and an extended, 50+ UV hood. It can be modified to meet the needs of babies starting at birth, using a carry cot or lie-flat seat. It's also compatible with the most popular stroller seats and second seats.

Fabric Sling Seat

The primary difference between a fabric sling versus a modular seat is that the fabric sling sits in the frame of the buggy instead of sitting on top of it as a modular seat would. This enables a much more ergonomically correct position for babies that instantly gives an lower centre of gravity that is at the proper height. This translates into an easier push, a lighter curb pop (you don't need much effort or weight to push the buggy over the curb's nose) and a better balance and stability.

The sling fabrics used in these types of seats are extremely durable and easy to clean. They were designed specifically with applications for sling chairs in mind These fabrics are extremely UV resistant and extremely breathable. These fabrics are also very easy to maintain with mild soap and warm water.

If you are a jogger, or you like off-roading then an all-terrain buggy is more likely to suit your requirements than a four-wheeled buggy. These models tend to have a wider base, more stable and utilise tyres with air to allow for smooth and agile moving over rough terrain.

A brand best known for its car seats, Maxi-Cosi has recently added a new 3-wheeler to its lineup with the Stella. This all-terrain vehicle has an enormous spacious and impressively growing seat that can be world facing or parent face and reclines flat using an upgraded 5-point safety harness. It can be used as a baby with an infant car seat or carrycot and comes with a decently large shopping basket and a hood that has zip pockets and a quick one-hand fold.

Created for the most discerning buggy drivers, this luxury 3 wheeler is as beautiful to behold as it is to use. The angular frame is finished in a striking pewter black with touches of burnished silver aluminium throughout, giving it a real WOW factor. A spacious, cushioned seat that can be used as world or parent facing with a more secure 5-point safety harness and an entire set of rain covers make this an ideal choice for active parents.

Modular Seat

Modular seating can be arranged in various ways to meet a variety of seating requirements. Modular seating can be easily adjusted to create a relaxing space to watch movies or a spacious arrangement to entertain guests. A lot of modular seating systems have cushion covers that can be removed which make it easier to wash spills and stains.

Modular Seating can be designed to blend with the existing decor or make a statement as an accent piece. You can select from a variety of colors, fabrics, and shapes to create an elegant and modular seating design that fits your style. Modular seating comes with various functional features, including hidden storage compartments for easy organization.

3-wheel buggies provide more stability than strollers with four wheels, making them ideal for off-road or all-terrain adventures. 3 wheel buggy , highly maneuverable front wheel allows for a quick and smooth motion, while the tyres are typically filled with air and have suspension, providing an excellent ride on the roughest of trails and roads. They are also ideal for navigating up hills because the wheels aren't as close to the ground as they are on 4 wheel pushchairs.

Often 3-wheel prams are a favorite for parents who love running and jogging with their baby, as they provide excellent mobility and are much more sleek than their 4-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for instance, is a sleek burnished aluminium frame that has a simple, one-handed fold and rear-facing and forward-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with an all-black frame that comes with a carrycot that can be positioned in a full lying position and has air-filled tyres.

Mountain Buggy Sport verso is another excellent all-terrain option. It's extremely lightweight and highly maneuverable. It's also incredibly stylish. This is a buggy that truly future proofs your wallet and can be used from the moment you are born with the carrycot all the way to toddlerhood with the seat that is modular (and beyond!). All this is within the footprint of one buggy.

Duet(tm) is an side-by-side buggy that's compact enough for city life but is also a bit more creative and controlled. It features an exclusive fabric sling seat that's placed in a comfortable frame at the perfect height to allow for a perfect weight distribution for easy rolling over kerbs, and for navigating neighborhoods and cities.
