Looking For Inspiration? Try Looking Up 3 Wheeled Buggies
3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is great for off-road walking & tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They can also be easier to maneuver around kerbs than 4-wheel models.

MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these three-wheelers while with her newborn and three year old, and put it through its paces on asphalt and on the muddy ground. You can read her full review here.

Stability

Four-wheel buggies with their center of gravity being balanced by your child's weight within the seat, are typically more stable than three-wheelers. But that doesn't mean an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, as the majority of these models are designed to cope with anything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.

For a buggy that's easy to maneuver and will not be a problem on bumpy pavements, look for a model with large rear wheels and an adjustable front wheel that locks. These all-terrain buggies typically have pneumatic tyres as well, which are great at handling surfaces that aren't paved and can be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.

They're also the best buggies to be running around in, as they provide excellent stability over rough terrain and help you keep up with your jogging partner. They're also excellent at going up and down steep kerbs too, and most of them have a built-in suspension that means your baby will enjoy a comfortable ride.

A stroller with 3 wheels can be difficult to maneuver due to its large frame. It is more difficult to maneuver through doorways and narrow spaces than a 4-wheeler. However some manufacturers have solved this issue with clever design that lets the wheels flip up when not being used, which reduces their overall size and allows you get through doors without difficulty.

It's also important to think about whether the buggy you choose to use is suitable for your baby from birth, or if you're planning on using it in conjunction with an infant car seat or carry cot. If so, make sure it has a lie-flat position and whether the design is compatible with second-seats and buggy boards (if you want to add a toddler onboard). Many 3-wheelers can fold flat, and then be put up in a upright position. This is a great option when you have a small boot space or have limited storage at home. Certain 3-wheelers require you to remove the front wheel in order to fold them into smaller spaces.

Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies usually offer better manoeuvrability than four-wheeled pushchairs. A lot of them feature a swivelling wheel on the front which allows you to steer and change direction using just one hand. Some models also come with a lockable front wheels that can provide the stability you need on rough terrain. Some models can be used with an additional seat or buggy board in case you're planning to expand your family.

If you're thinking of taking your three-wheeled vehicle off of tracks that are paved, it's worth choosing one equipped with tyres filled with air (also known as pneumatic tyres) which can cope with the toughest terrain. They will require periodic pumping, but will be far more durable than solid tyres and more likely to be puncture-proof. Look for a model with a lockable swivelling front wheel to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

A single front wheel may also be a reason that three-wheelers tend to be heavier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Be sure that the model you choose can fit in the boot of your car and can be placed upright if required. Certain models can fold in one hand, and they're freestanding when collapsed. This can save space in boot spaces that are smaller.

A well-constructed 3 wheel pushchair is able to cope with most terrain from busy streets to woodland tracks. three wheel pushchair is important to consider the way you'll use it every day. If you'll be doing the school run, it should be able to cope with steep kerbs and slopes. If you're planning to run on it, ensure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that is locked. This will keep the ride smooth.

Kath, a MFM reviewer, discovered that her three-wheeled stroller was able to take on urban and walks in the countryside. Kath said it could navigate rocky paths, cobbles and bumpy pavements effortlessly and was comfortable when jogging. It's also a great choice for day trips, as it comes with plenty of storage space, including a large and spacious basket that has a zip-top cover and an extendable 50+ UV hood. It can also be adapted to accommodate babies from birth using an adjustable seat that can be sat on or a carry cot, in addition to being compatible with a variety of popular second seats and buggy boards.

Fabric Sling Seat

The main difference between a fabric sling and modular seat is that the fabric sling fits in the frame of the buggy as opposed to sitting on top as a modular seat would. This makes it easier to maintain an ergonomically correct position of the baby, which results in a lower center of gravity, which is just the right height. This in turn makes for an easier push, a less hefty curb pop (you don't need as much weight and effort to pop the buggy over the curb's nose) and a better stability and balance.

These seats also come with Sling fabrics that are simple to clean and durable. These fabrics were designed specifically for the sling chair and are UV resistant and ventilated. They also have a great anti-aging capability and are easy to clean with water and soap.

If you're a jogger or like to do some off-roading, an all-terrain 3 wheeler will be more suitable than a 4-wheel buggy. These models have a larger base they are more stable and utilize air-filled tyres for smooth, easy mobility over rough terrain.

A brand best known for its car seats, Maxi-Cosi has recently added an all-new 3-wheeler to its range with the Stella. This stroller is all-terrain and has a spacious and large seat that can be set either in the direction of the parent or facing the world. It also reclines flat and features an upgraded 5-point safety belt. It can be used with an infant car seat or carrycot from birth. It comes with an ample shopping basket.

For the most discerning buggy drivers, this luxurious 3 wheeler is as stunning to look at as it is enjoyable to use. The angular frame features stunning pewter finish and touches of burnished aluminium. It is a real eye-catching piece. A spacious, cushioned seat that can be used as world or parent-facing with a new 5-point safety harness as well as a full set of rain covers makes this a great choice for active parents.

Modular Seat

Modular seating offers a wide range of configurations to suit various seating requirements. It doesn't matter if it's a comfortable setup to watch films or a large configuration for entertaining guests, modular seating can adjust easily. Many modular seating systems also have cushion covers that can be removed which makes it easier to clean up spills and staining.

3 wheeled pushchair is available in different designs to complement your current decor or as an accent piece. A broad range of color, fabric and shape options mean that you can find an option for modular seating that is a perfect fit for your preferences. Modular seating comes with various useful features, such as storage compartments hidden from view for easy organization.

3-wheel buggies are especially suitable for off-road and all-terrain adventures because they offer more stability than 4-wheel strollers. The large, highly manoeuvrable front wheel enables agile and smooth movement, whilst the tyres are typically filled with air and have suspension, which gives you a great ride on the roughest of trails and roads. The wheels aren't as close to the ground on these pushchairs as they are with 4 wheeled pushchairs. This makes them ideal for walking uphill.

Often, 3-wheel prams are a favorite for parents who love running and jogging with their baby, as they provide excellent agility and are less bulky than their 4 wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has a sleek burnished aluminium frame that has a simple one-handed fold as well as forward-facing and rear-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with black frames with a carrycot that can be placed in a fully lie-flat position, and has tyres that are air-filled.

Another excellent all-terrain choice is the incredibly lightweight, highly maneuverable and stunningly stylish Mountain Buggy Sport verso. This buggy can last from birth, with a carrycot and toddlerhood with the adjustable seat. All this is within the footprint of one buggy.

The most recent model, duet(tm), is a side-byside buggy that's small enough for urban living, yet large on innovation and control. It has a unique fabric seat that is set comfortably within the frame at the perfect height to distribute weight. This makes it easy crossing of kerbs and for navigating cities and neighborhoods.
