Lower reward responsiveness has been associated with fatigue in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, association of MS-related fatigue with damage to the mesocorticolimbic reward pathway (superolateral medial forebrain bundle [slMFB]) has not been assessed. We investigated the association of fatigue and depression with slMFB damage in MS patients stratified based on longitudinal fatigue patterns.

Patient stratification 1. Sustained Fatigue (SF) latest two Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS) ≥ 38 (n = 26); 2. Reversible Fatigue (RF) latest MFIS < 38, and at least one previous MFIS ≥ 38 (n = 25); 3. Never Fatigued (NF) ≥ 5 consecutive MFIS < 38 (n = 42); 4. Healthy Controls (n = 6). Diffusion MRI-derived measures of fractional anisotropy (FA), axial (AD), mean (MD), and radial diffusivity (RD) of the slMFB were compared between the groups. Depression was assessed using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D).

Depressed (CES-D ≥ 16) SF patients showed significantly higher MD and RD than nondepressed SF and RF, and depressed RF patients, and significantly lower FA than nondepressed SF and depressed RF patients in their left slMFB. Depressed SF patients showed significantly higher left slMFB MD and AD than healthy controls.

Microstructural changes to the left slMFB may play a role in the comorbid development of fatigue and depression in MS.

A multi-country comparative cross-sectional study was conducted with nursing students (n = 1746) from the Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, and Spain using the Nurse Competence Scale and the Clinical Learning Environment and Supervision scale. Nursing students' overall perceptions of their final clinical learning environment and supervision were positive in all the countries studied. The correlation between the students' perceptions of their final clinical learning environment and competence was statistically significant and positive. Satisfaction with the nursing program and clinical practicum and no consideration of career change were related to positive perceptions of the final clinical learning environment. Highlighting the importance of the supervisory relationship and pedagogical atmosphere, nursing students' positive perceptions of the final clinical learning environment and supervision contribute to a better level of self-assessed competence and satisfaction with the nursing program and clinical practicum, leading to lower turnover intentions.
Radiostereometric analysis (RSA) is an established high precision tool enabling us to detect early implant migration in total hip arthroplasty. The aim of this study is to present the RSA and clinical results of a new cementless hip stem and to compare those with established benchmarks.

A total of 45 patients (46 hips) undergoing total hip arthroplasty were available for full radiographic and clinical assessment at 2 years post-operatively. Mean patient age was 69 (range 43-85) years and mean body mass index was 29 (range 21-38) kg/m
. RSA was undertaken at day 1, 6 weeks, 6 months and 1 and 2 years post-operatively. Oxford hip score and EQ-5D-5L scores were recorded preoperatively and at the same other time points. GSK 2837808A Results were compared to published data of established implants.

At 2 years, mean subsidence and retroversion were 0.61 mm (standard deviation 0.7 mm, range -0.19 to 3.06 mm) and 0.44° (standard deviation 0.81°, range 0.98 to 3.29°), respectively. Stem migration occurred primarily in the first 6 weeks with no detectable subsidence or rotation at 6 months or 2 years. Mean Oxford hip score and EQ-5D-5L improved from 18.6 to 44.7, and 69 to 86, respectively. There was one cup-only revision and no revisions for stem loosening.

RSA serves as an accurate measure of femoral stem stability early in the post-operative period. Our data confirm that stability occurs as early as 6 weeks and is sustained at 2 years. The Paragon stem demonstrates stability parameters at 2 years that exceed other established benchmark implants.

Existing data on safety of non-obstetric surgery during pregnancy appear limited and conflicting. This study aimed to assess perinatal outcomes and complications in pregnant women undergoing non-obstetric surgeries.

A single-site Australian study was performed utilizing a 10-year data (2009-2018) collected retrospectively. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the characteristics of the study population. Statistical analyses between groups were conducted by independent t-test or Mann-Whitney (for means between groups) and by chi-squared/Fisher's exact test (for categorical variables).

A total of 108 pregnant women underwent non-obstetric surgery, with an increasing trend in annual numbers since 2014. The majority of women (91%) underwent surgeries as an emergency procedure, and under general anaesthesia (69.8%). Procedures during the first trimester comprised 45%, making it the most common trimester for non-obstetric surgeries. The most common cause for surgery arose in the gastrointestinal/digeral population.
This study examined the mediating effects of anger expression in the relationship between work stress and burnout among nurses with more than or less than 3 years of career experience.

A cross-sectional study was conducted with 454 nurses working at three university hospitals in South Korea. Nurses completed a survey consisting of demographic questions, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Work Stress Scale, and the Korean version of the Anger Expression Inventory. A multiple-group mediation analysis was performed using structural equation modeling.

In total (N = 454), work stress directly affected burnout, and all anger expressions indirectly affected the relationship of work stress with burnout. Different mediating effects of anger expression style according to career experience were shown; anger-out and anger-in in nurses with less experience (n = 184) and only anger-in in those with more experience (n = 270) partially mediated the relationship of work stress with burnout.

The indirect effect of anger-in style was higher than other anger expression styles in all nurses; suppression of anger caused by work stress can increase burnout.
