The COVID-19 pandemic can affect the mental health of health and social care workers (HSCWs) who are frontline workers in this crisis. The pandemic poses unique challenges to HSCWs as they face morally daunting decisions while working with limited knowledge and resources. This study examined the relationships between exposure to potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs) and depression and anxiety among HSCWs.
A sample of 243 Israeli HSCWs completed validated self-report questionnaires that include measures of depression, anxiety, exposure to PMIEs, perceived stress, and moral injury symptoms.
About one-third (33.6%) of the sample met the criteria for major depressive disorder, 21.5% met the criteria for generalized anxiety disorder, and 19.1% reported comorbidity of depression and anxiety. Beyond demographic, COVID-19, and work-related characteristics, PMIEs contributed to depression and anxiety among HSCWs. The integrative model indicated the mediating role of perceived stress and moral injury symptoms in the associations of PMIEs with depression and anxiety.
The study's findings highlight HSCWs' mental burden during the COVID-19 pandemic and the important contribution of exposure to PMIEs to this burden. Clinicians treating HSCWs coping with depression and anxiety following the COVID-19 should also attend to moral injury symptoms.

This review aims to present a comprehensive perspective by focusing on structural properties, interactions and gastrointestinal protection of PAC. In brief, the main findings of this review are summarized as follows (1) Structural features are critical factors in determining the bioavailability and subsequent pharmacology of PAC; (2) PAC and/or their bacterial metabolites can play a direct role in the gastrointestinal tract through their antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-proliferative properties; (3) PAC can reduce the digestion, absorption, and bioavailability of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids by interacting with them or their according enzymes and transporters in the gastrointestinal tract; (4). PAC showed a prebiotic-like effect by interacting with the microflora in the intestinal tract, and the enhancement of PAC on a variety of probiotics, such as Bifidobacterium spp. and Lactobacillus spp. could be associated with potential benefits to human health. In conclusion, the potential effects of PAC in prevention and alleviation of gastrointestinal diseases are remarkable but clinical evidence is urgently needed. There is a scarcity of evidence on the association between shift work, sleeping parameters, heart rate variability (HRV), and chronotype, i.e., morningness and eveningness. The aims of this study were to 1) compare participants with different chronotypes (morning (M), evening (E), or neither (N)) in terms of their total sleep time, sleep efficiency, and HRV parameters, taking their age into account, and 2) examine whether self-reported work-related stress, the length of the working career and years performing shift work affect this association. The participants of the study were home care workers working in two shifts in one municipality in Eastern Finland (N = 395). Of these, 52 females (mean age 42.78 y, SD 12.92 y) completed the study questionnaire and participated in physiological measurements. Several sleep-related parameters were assessed (total sleep time, sleep efficiency, number of awakenings, and length of awakening) and indices of autonomic nervous system based on HRV were calculated. The participa may have better sleep quality than E-types, which was also reflected in HRV parameters. Further research with longitudinal study design and workplace interventions is needed to determine how the chronotype can be optimally and individually utilized to improve the health and well-being of morning-type and evening-type people. This is particularly important for both younger and older workers entering the workforce to support healthier and longer working lives.
Despite recognition by both the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Paediatrics (ABP) of the importance of bioethics education, curricular crowding, lack of perceived significance, and insufficient administrative support remain significant barriers to trainees gaining competency in bioethics. Few bioethics curricula at the graduate medical education level are evidence-based or comprehensive. We sought to develop and assess the effectiveness of a Team Based Learning (TBL) curriculum in improving residents' bioethics knowledge and their ability to evaluate ethical dilemmas.
We integrated L. Dee Fink's curricular design principles of "Significant Learning," Jonsen
's "Four-Box Method" of ethical analysis, and ABP bioethics content specifications to create 10 TBL bioethics sessions. Didox inhibitor Paediatric residents at a major academic centre then completed a 3-year longitudinal, integrated TBL-based bioethics curriculum. Primary outcomes included individual and group rerning (TBL) can be employed to increase knowledge and satisfaction. This study reports the first successful TBL bioethics curriculum, planned and executed longitudinally over 3 years, with paediatric residents at a large academic children's hospital in the US.TBL can be utilised to teach bioethics at the graduate medical education level and is adaptable to different situational factors, disciplines, and levels of clinical experience.
Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in a post-transplant patient can lead to several complications including recurrent UTI and deterioration of the graft kidney function. The aim of this study is to investigate the spectrum of LUTS, possible complications resulting from it and its management after renal transplant in pre-transplant anuric patients operated in our tertiary care institute.
It was a retro-prospective observational study done on post-transplant patients operated in this institute from December 2016 to December 2020. Among 165 patients operated during this period 50 male and 21 female patients were finally included in this study. Urinary symptoms were evaluated using the IPSS Questionnaire. Pre and post-surgery Uroflowmetry findings were compared. Urodynamic assessment was done at least 6 months after surgery to determine the cause behind such symptoms. The data was analyzed with the help of standard statistical methods and SPSS 21 software.
The most common LUTS among the post renal transplant patients were frequency and nocturia. There was a marked improvement in voided volume and urinary flow in most of the patients. In 11 male and 7 female patients LUTS symptoms were moderate to severe and were seldom associated with recurrent UTI and graft compromise. A cautious approach in these patients helped in early diagnosis of the etiology behind LUTS, which were treated accordingly.
LUTS should be carefully evaluated before renal transplantation. Postoperatively moderate to severe LUTS symptoms should be thoroughly investigated so that graft compromise and related complications can be prevented by early intervention.

The relationship between the external load lifted and movement velocity can be modeled by a simple linear regression, and the variables derived from the load-velocity (L-V) relationship were recently used to estimate the maximal neuromuscular capacities during 2 variants of the back-squat exercise.
The L-V relationship variables will be highly reliable and will be highly associated with the traditional tests commonly used to evaluate the maximal force and power.
Twenty-four male wrestlers performed 5 testing sessions (a 1-repetition maximum [1RM] session, and 4 experimental sessions [2 with the concentric-only back-squat and 2 with the eccentric-concentric back-squat]). Each experimental session consisted of performing 3 repetitions against 5 loads (45%-55%-65%-75%-85% of the 1RM), followed by single 1RM attempts.
Level 3.
Individual L-V relationships were modeled from the mean velocity collected under all loading conditions from which the following 3 variables were calculated load-axis intercept (
capacities of lower-body muscles.
The load-velocity relationship modeling represents a quick and simple procedure to estimate the maximal neuromuscular capacities of lower-body muscles.
To analyze the differences in clinical features, treatment methods, prognosis, and etiological factors between lacrimal gland, adenoid cystic carcinoma (LGACC), and orbit adenocarcinoma.
All cases of LGACC and orbit adenocarcinoma between 1975 and 2016 were obtained from the US National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.
The 3-, 5-, and 10-year overall survival (OS) rates for 118 LGACC cases were 82.2%, 70.2%, and 51.7%, respectively. The 3-, 5-, and 10-year OS rates for 29 orbit adenocarcinoma cases were 76.3%, 51.2%, and 51.2%, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in the overall survival rate between LGACC and adenocarcinoma (P=0.566). Univariate analysis showed that the proportion of deaths was higher with increased age and year of diagnosis in LGACC (P=0.010 and P=0.000), while the death rate was higher for poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma (P=0.020). The survival rate for LGACC was lower in patients ⩾60 years of age than in those <60 years of age (P=0.035). There was no significant difference in survival rate between adenocarcinoma patients ⩾60 years and <60 years old (P=0.102). There was no significant correlation between the degree of tumor differentiation and the survival rate for LGACC or adenocarcinoma (P=0.401 or P=0.098, respectively).
There is no significant difference in prognosis between LGACC and adenocarcinoma. The degree of tumor differentiation is not associated with prognosis for either LGACC or adenocarcinoma.

In order to survive in various acidic environments, acid-resistant bacteria have developed diverse protective mechanisms such as sensing acid stress and signal transduction, maintaining intracellular pH homeostasis by controlling the flow of H+, protecting and repairing biological macromolecules, metabolic modification, and cross-protection. Acid-resistant bacteria have broad biotechnological application prospects in the food field. The production of fermented foods with high acidity and acidophilic enzymes are the main applications of this kind of bacteria in the food industry. Their acid resistance modules can also be used to construct acid-resistant recombinant engineering strains for special purposes. However, they can also cause negative effects on foods, such as spoilage and toxicity. Herein, the aim of this paper is to summarize the research progress of molecular mechanisms against acid stress of acid-resistant bacteria.
