Female cross-country runners appeared willing to apply nutritional information; therefore, it is important that generalized nutrition education with an emphasis on intrinsic and extrinsic factors for food choices be considered for female collegiate cross-country runners.
To establish the prevalence of mood and wellness behaviors in college students across a school year.
1,554 college students (69.4% female; average age 18.8 years) were followed with daily surveys on wellness behaviors for the school year. 1,207 participants completed at least 50% of daily surveys on mood, exercise, sleep, nutrition, mindfulness practice and singing/playing musical instrument.
Over 88.7% of college students reported at least one wellness behavior each day with 17.7% reporting 4 or more. Each of the wellness behaviors, however, displayed distinct prevalence patterns, varied significantly across the school year, and often across a given school week. Almost every individual wellness behavior was associated with a positive mood, and the cumulative number of daily wellness behaviors was a strongly associated with mood state.
Daily wellness behaviors are collectively common, vary significantly within individuals, and are strongly associated with positive mood, both individual and cumulatiindividual and cumulatively.
Dual use of male condoms and female contraceptives is widely advocated for unplanned pregnancy prevention, yet college students often neglect condoms. This feasibility and acceptability study assessed the efficacy of a self-guided home-based condom-promotion intervention among college students in heterosexual relationships.
Fifty-nine couples who had been together at least 30 days and had penile-vaginal sex at least twice weekly.
Assessments were done at baseline and 6 months later. Outcomes were frequency of condom-unprotected penile-vaginal sex and four psychosocial mediators of condom use.
Frequency of unprotected penile-vaginal sex decreased over time. Several corresponding psychosocial mediators showed change, particularly among women. Using actor-partner interdependence modeling, men's increase in condom use was associated with an increase in women's sexual pleasure.
Findings support implementation of a brief, self-guided, home-based condom-use intervention that could lower incidence of untation of a brief, self-guided, home-based condom-use intervention that could lower incidence of unplanned pregnancy and STIs among heterosexually active college students.
This study examined whether the use of party-safety strategies weakens the association between frequency of party attendance and sexual victimization among first-year female college students.
First-year female college students (
= 450) from three universities in the United States participated in this study. Vismodegib Stem Cells inhibitor
Participants completed questionnaires on frequency of party attendance, use of party-safety strategies, and sexual victimization.
Frequency of party attendance was positively associated with sexual victimization. This association was moderated by use of party-safety strategies frequency of party attendance was unrelated to sexual victimization when students reported greater use of party-safety strategies. However, frequency of party attendance was positively related to sexual victimization when students reported lower use of party-safety strategies.
Teaching and reinforcing party-safety strategies may be helpful additions to efforts to prevent sexual victimization on college campuses.

This research examined the use of georeferenced photo-elicitation projects in conducting "assets inventories" of on-campus resources for students who have been the victims of violence.
A pilot study was conducted with 27 undergraduate students at a small, Hispanic-serving, Catholic, liberal arts university.
Students participated in a photo-elicitation project, submitting geotagged digital photographs of on-campus resources for victims of violence.
Thematic and spatial analyses revealed both place-based and person-based resources, some of which were not previously recognized by administrators. Mapping of resources showed areas of concentration and potential areas for future development. Assets were unique to the university studied, grounded both in its culture and history.
GIS-based photo-elicitation research is useful for assessing current and potential trauma-informed on-campus resources. The pilot study is replicable on other campuses, allowing administrators to better understand how student nstudy is replicable on other campuses, allowing administrators to better understand how student needs are uniquely defined, currently being met, or can be better met.
This study compared self-reported nutrition, physical activity, and body mass index (BMI) in undergraduate versus graduate nursing students.

Respondents included 233 undergraduate and 230 graduate nursing students in a Southeastern public university.

The study was an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional comparison administered via online questionnaire including self-reported demographics, nutritional intake, physical activity, and BMI.

Undergraduates reported exercising more than graduate students. Graduate students reported consuming significantly more vegetables than undergraduates; however, more graduate students self-reported BMIs in overweight and obese categories than undergraduates.

Findings provide a foundational understanding that interventions or educational programs to improve self-care behaviors of nursing students should be tailored depending on the educational level of the students. Educators must establish self-care skills within nursing students at all levels to help them preserve their health in the fast-paced, strenuous, and stressful work of all echelons of nursing upon completion of the educational program.
