Overall, the results reflect the tendency of the economy to become less carbon-intensive as bank credit supply to the private sector increases. In this paper, we present the studies on electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of K2CrO4-PMMA composites developed by two different methods one in bulk form of thickness 1.2 mm and another by stacking twelve layers of thin films each of thickness 100 μm. The EMI SE of stacked twelve layers of 1.2-mm-thick composite films has been achieved until 23.2 dB in the frequency range 8.0-12.0 GHz. This is remarkably higher than the 17 dB achieved for the bulk composites of 1.2 mm thickness. The characteristic EMI SE graphs obtained using Agilent E82B Vector Network Analyzer in the X band frequency range have been depicted, and the shielding mechanism in these composites has been analyzed. It is found that the SE in this frequency range is dominated by absorption. The study suggests these composites to be a potentially promising material for EMI shielding purpose.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease, and there has been no disease-modifying treatment for AD. Recent studies suggest that trehalose may have beneficial effect on neurodegenerative diseases through regulating autophagy and facilitating aggregated protein clearance. However, the effects of trehalose on AD-related neuropathologies are still unknown. Western blot was performed to examine the effects of trehalose on APP processing in vitro and in vivo. ELISA and immunohistochemical staining were conducted to measure Aβ production in vitro and neuritic plaque formation in APP23 transgenic mice, respectively. Trehalose treatment significantly decreased Aβ generation in HAW and 20E2 cells. Furthermore, trehalose treatment increased the levels of APP and its CTFs, and significantly reduced Aβ generation and neuritic plaque formation in APP23 mice. Our study showed that trehalose affected the APP processing both in vitro and in vivo and suggests that trehalose treatment may offer as a therapeutic strategy to ameliorate AD pathology by inhibiting Aβ generation and neuritic plaque formation.Group A rotavirus (RVA) and bovine coronavirus (BCoV) are the two main viral enteropathogens associated with neonatal calf diarrhea. SR-18292 concentration The aim of the present survey was to investigate the epidemiology and the role of RVA and BCoV in the presentation of dairy and beef calf diarrhea in Lerma Valley of Salta province, within the Northwest region of Argentina. Stool samples of calves with or without diarrhea younger than 2 months of age were collected from 19 dairy farms and 20 beef farms between the years 2014 and 2016. Stool samples were screened for RVA and BCoV detection by ELISA. Heminested multiplex RT-PCR was used for RVA typing and RT-PCR to confirm BCoV. Positive samples were submitted to sequencing analysis. Bovine RVA and BCoV were circulating in 63% (12/19) and 10.52% (2/19) of the dairy farms, respectively, where 9.5% (46/484) of the calves were positives to RVA and 0.4% (2/484) to BCoV. In beef herds, RVA was detected in 40% (8/20) of the farms and in 6.75% (21/311) of the calves, without positives cases of BCoV. Molecular analysis showed that in dairy farms, G6P[11] and G10P[11] were the prevalent RVA strains, while in beef farms, G10P[11] was the prevalent. The main finding was the detection for the first time of a G15P[11] causing diarrhea in beef calves of Argentina that represents a new alert to be consider for future vaccine updates. link2 Analysis of detected BCoV showed that it is related to the other circulating strains of Argentina.Avocado oil cake (AOC) was mixed with dried grape pomace and sugarcane molasses and ensiled for 90 days. A total mixed ration containing 5% AOC silage was formulated and top dressed with Axtra® XB enzyme at 0, 2.5 and 5%. The experimental diets were fed to 24 (8 pigs/diet) Large White × Landrace (LW × LR) cross pigs (± 22-kg live weight). Growth performance data was recorded for 60 days, after which the pigs were adapted to chromic oxide mixed diet for 3 days, whereby faeces were collected for 5 days after to determine nutrient digestion. link3 Following nutrient digestion, pigs were fasted for 12 h, weighed and slaughtered. Carcass samples were collected and analysed for meat quality. Dietary addition of enzyme increased (P 0.05) the colour and cooking quality of the meat. Enzyme addition was worth in the growth performance and nutrient digestion but did not affect the carcass characteristics and meat quality of pigs.Rotaviruses have a worldwide distribution and the infection is associated with diarrhea in young of ruminants as well as children. However, limited data exist on its prevalence and types in Yobe state, Nigeria. Detection of rotavirus A and types in ruminant population in Yobe state was the aim of the study. A total of 470 diarrheic fecal samples were collected and tested for rotavirus and types using serology and molecular techniques respectively. A prevalence rate of 2.98% (14/470) was found in the three species with specific rates of 2.9% (6/202), 3.8% (6/158), and 1.8% (2/110) in goat, sheep, and cattle respectively. The prevalence rates of 3.6% (12/331), 1.2% (1/84), and 1.8% (1/55) were for those aged less then 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 months old, respectively, while 4.9% (9/185) and 1.7% (5/285) were in males and females respectively. Rotavirus genes VP7 and VP4 were detected in 2 (14.3%) out of the 14 ELISA-positive samples while deduced amino acid sequences of the major variable regions revealed the genes to belong to types G3P[11] strain. Significant association was found between the infection and sex (P less then 0.05) unlike in the species and age groups of the ruminants. The circulation of rotavirus virus in ruminants and type G3P[11] in cattle has been confirmed in the study. Hence, there is a need for continuous surveillance, awareness campaign, and assessment of the economic losses and public health implications of rotavirus infection in Nigeria. Background Over 25 million US inhabitants are limited English proficient (LEP). It is unknown whether physicians fluent in non-English languages are training in geographic areas with the highest proportion of LEP people. Diversity of language ability in the physician workforce is an important complement to language assistance services for providing quality care to LEP patients. Objective To determine whether non-English language-speaking resident physicians matched in the geographic areas where language skills are needed. Design Cross-sectional study. Participants Postgraduate medical training applicants to the Association of American Medical College's Electronic Residency Application Service in 2013-2014 (n = 50,766). We included data from the Graduate Medical Education Track database, mapped against American Community Survey data. Interventions N/A. Main measures We assessed the geographic alignment of non-English language-speaking resident physicians relative to the distribution of the LEP-speaking populattheir community with the language abilities of the resident physicians they are recruiting.I question the problem of psychology as a science posed in the target article. Instead of attempting to establish a fixed vocabulary, I advocate for the benefits of adjusting concepts to each study - concepts just-in-time - since this is in line with the phenomenon we study in psychology. On the other hand, to develop psychology as a science we need to develop some common approaches. Here I agree that evolutionary psychology has the potential to frame this since evolutionary psychology focuses on the whole human in relation to environment and development in time with all the variability this gives. Especially to focus on the processes rather than the established entities is promising.Maslinic acid is an active member of pentacyclic triterpenes predominantly found in dietary plants including hawthorn berries and olive fruit skins. It has been reported to show immense pharmacological and biological importance including anticancer property. This research was initiated to explore the anticancer potential of maslinic acid against human neuroblastoma. The effects of maslinic acid on cellular apoptosis, ROS generation, cell migration and invasion, caspase activation and targeting MAPK/ERK signaling pathway were investigated. The proliferation percentage was calculated by performing of MTT assay. AO/EB and annexin V/PI staining assays along with western blotting were used to monitor the apoptosis and expressions of apoptosis connected proteins. Spectrofluorometry was used for ROS monitoring. To assess the anti-metastatic effects of maslinic acid on neuroblastoma cells, transwell chambers assays for migration as well as invasion were executed. Western blotting was implemented to establish the expressions of MAPK/ERK signaling pathway connected proteins. Results evidenced remarkable anticancer potential of maslinic acid against human neuroblastoma. It induced dose as well as time reliant anti-proliferative effects against SHSY-5Y cells selectively. The underlying mechanism of cancer suppressive effects of maslinic acid was found to mediate via caspase-dependent apoptosis. Further, ROS production amplified terrifically with exposure of SHSY-5Y to higher maslinic acid doses. Cell migration and invasion in SHSY-5Y cells were both reduced remarkably by maslinic acid. Finally, the activity of proteins associated with MAPK/ERK signaling pathway was found to be significantly reduced with increasing maslinic acid doses. In conclusion, it was observed that maslinic acid possesses a great anti-neuroblastoma potential and could be considered for its chemotherapy provided further investigations are recommended. Background Hemorrhage due to a ruptured splanchnic pseudoaneurysm followed by the formation of a postoperative pancreatic fistula is the most severe complication of a pancreatectomy, sometimes leading to a fatal outcome. Stent graft placement to control the hemorrhage due to the pseudoaneurysm is a validated treatment option, but once the stent graft is infected, infection control is complicated. We report a case of a ruptured pseudoaneurysm of the splanchnic artery after pancreaticoduodenectomy to evaluate the stent graft treatment. Case presentation A 77-year-old man underwent pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy for suspected distal bile duct cancer. Hemorrhage from a pseudoaneurysm of the common hepatic artery due to the formation of the pancreatic fistula was detected on postoperative day 9, and a stent graft was successfully placed with the preservation of hepatic arterial blood flow. On postoperative day 12, new-onset hemorrhage from a pseudoaneurysm of the right hepatic artery developed, and a stent graft was similarly placed, but immediately occluded. Refractory pancreatic and biliary fistulas developed and required continuous drainage. On postoperative day 85, computed tomography revealed the presence of air within the latter stent graft, which indicated infection of the stent graft. The patient died due to sepsis caused by the graft infection. Conclusion Stent graft placement for the treatment of hemorrhage of a pseudoaneurysm secondary to a postoperative pancreatic fistula, following pancreaticoduodenectomy, is an effective treatment option as it achieves immediate hemostasis and maintains end-organ perfusion. However, stent graft infection is the most detrimental complication.
