This study examines the effect of the supplements on the redox reaction in menstrual cycle. Participants took eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)-rich fish oil supplements over two menstrual cycles.

For this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 21 female members of a university basketball team were selected. Participants were allocated into the EPA/docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) group (EG,
= 11) and control group (CG,
= 10) through stratified randomization. The EG and CG took 3600 mg fish oil (containing 900 mg EPA and 403 mg DHA) and 3600 mg corn oil (without EPA and DHA), respectively, every day for two menstrual cycles. The redox reaction was measured four times the menstrual and follicular phases in two menstrual cycles.

There was a significant difference in reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) and potential antioxidant capacity during the menstrual phase by the main effect of time (before and after intake) in EG and CG (
 < 0.01). In a subsequent test, d-ROMs were significantly lower a8795).
The object of this research is to identify growth and geographical distribution of research in the field of perinatal mental health and key research areas.

We performed a bibliometric analysis on research documents on perinatal mental health from 1900 to 2020. Web of Science was used to download bibliometric data. Search strategy used generic index terms with specific free text searches using "AND" as Boolean function. For example, psycho AND perinatal. Microsoft Excel was used to identify research growth, geographical and research institutes contribution to research in the field. Citation analysis was done using VOSviewer.

A total of 11,081 articles were extracted. The most cited research was by Cox et al., which introduced Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. There was exponential increase in the research documents from 1990 to 2020. However, most of the research was contributed by the global north. Among emerging countries, India, South Africa, and Brazil did not contribute in the perinatal research. Postnatal depression and its risk factors were most studied themes. Paternal perinatal mental health and impact on mental health of children were understudied themes.

Perinatal mental health research outpaced growth in biomedical research in the past 30 years. The work of leading researcher in the field was initially inspired by his experience in Uganda encountering postnatal depression. However, even after half a century, there is still less contribution from developing countries. This analysis highlights research and possibly access to services inequities in developing countries.

Maternal mortality rate reviews have identified the need for improved patient education regarding the warning signs of maternal complications to reduce preventable deaths. Maternal and child home visiting programs have the potential to deliver this education in communities.

This study sought to evaluate the baseline provision of warning signs education among home visiting programs in Maryland and to assess the acceptability of and preferences for warning signs education materials among program staff.

This sequential exploratory, mixed-methods study included qualitative interviews and focus group discussions followed by a web-based survey of all home visiting programs providing early postpartum visits in Maryland.

Twenty-five home visiting program staff took part in qualitative data collection, and survey responses were submitted by a manager from 40 of 58 eligible home visiting programs (69% response rate). All survey respondents agreed that home visiting programs should provide warning signs education and more than 80% of programs provided some warning signs education during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Printed pamphlets were provided by 68% of programs for pregnancy complications and 43% for postpartum complications. Only 33% of respondents were satisfied with their existing warnings signs education materials; 98% were interested in new illustrated pamphlets and 88% were interested in education videos. Qualitative participants considered pamphlets with simple designs, limited text, and visuals, as the most accessible for home visiting clients.

There are opportunities to strengthen and expand warning signs education in Maryland through home visiting programs using new printed and video education materials.

Rhinosporidiosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by an infection with the sporulating bacterium Rhinosporidium seeberi. It primarily affects the nose and nasopharynx mucous membranes, but it can also involve the conjunctiva. The most common presentation of ocular rhinosporidiosis is a polypoid mass in the palpebral conjunctiva. It affects people of all ages and genders and is found in few Asian countries. Conjunctival lesions are uncommon, and no previous case from Ethiopia has been documented to the authors' knowledge.

A 12-year-old boy with a fleshy pedunculated conjunctival mass was brought to Jimma University Medical Center with a 1-month history of foreign body sensation. The patient was diagnosed with Pedunculated Squamous Cell Papilloma and had an excisional biopsy of the lesion. The mass was found to be a hyperplastic polypoid lesion with numerous globular cysts within the conjunctival submucosa, surrounded by a heavy inflammatory infiltrate of lymphocytes, plasma cells, and neutrophils, as well as large thick-walled sporangia with numerous endospores on microscopic sections. Conjunctival Rhinosporidiosis was diagnosed histopathologically.

In terms of clinical appearance, conjunctival Rhinosporidiosis resembles squamous papilloma. As a result, a thorough histopathologic study is essential for a correct diagnosis of this uncommon condition.

The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dexamethasone intravitreal implant (DEX) for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) with retinal vein occlusion secondary to macular edema (RVO-ME).

Relevant databases were searched to include randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating DEX for DME and RVO-ME. The search was conducted until March 2022. Meta-analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.4.1 software after screening the literature by inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracting information, and evaluating the methodological quality of the included studies.

The study showed that DEX treatment of RVO-ME was associated with an improvement in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) (MD = -9.08, 95% CI -10.89-7.27,
< 0.00001) and central retinal thickness (CRT) (MD = 93.47, 95% CI 28.55-159.39,
=0.005). DEX treatment of DME was significantly better than anti-VEGF treatment in terms of CRT reduction (MD = -72.35, 95% CI -115.0-29.69,
=0.0009). The safety study showed that the risk of cataract from RVO-ME (OR = 5.06, 95% CI 1.96 to 13.06,
=0.0008) and the incidence of high intraocular pressure (OR = 6.67, 95% CI 3.46 to 12.86,
< 0.00001) were significantly higher with DEX than with anti-VEGF therapy. The risk of cataract from DME (OR = 4.70, 95% CI 2.10 to 10.54,
=0.00022) was significantly higher with DEX than with anti-VEGF therapy (OR = 4.70, 95% CI 2.10 to 10.54,
=0.0002). The incidence of high IOP (OR = 13.77, 95% CI 4.96 to 38.18,
< 0.00001) was significantly higher with DEX than with anti-VEGF therapy.

In patients with DME and RVO-ME, DEX was more efficacious but slightly less safe than anti-VEGF therapy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate a micrometer-accurate analysis of the retropupillary Verisyse® intraocular lens (IOL) (Ophtec, Groningen NL; Santa Ana, USA) enclavation in the iris tissue.

A retrospective consecutive case series was conducted at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Mainz. Patients with an optical coherence tomography (Spectralis®, Heidelberg Engineering®; Heidelberg, Germany) examination after retropupillary Verisyse® IOL implantation were included retrospectively. The enclavation geometry was measured using the Eye-Explorer® from Heidelberg Engineering® (Heidelberg, Germany). Seventeen measuring positions were determined nasally and temporally at the corresponding enclavation points.

72 eyes of 67 patients after implantation of a retropupillary Verisyse® IOL were analyzed. ARA014418 The average age was 68 ± 17.2 years (63% female; 38% male). The analysis of the position of the Verisyse
IOL showed highly homogeneous data in all measured points. The depth of the anterior ch offset of 95 µm. This rebuts previous assumptions about the intrastromal course and provides new information.
Contrast dilution gradient (CDG) analysis is a technique used to extract velocimetric 2D information from digitally subtracted angiographic (DSA) acquisitions. This information may then be used by clinicians to quantitatively assess the effects of endovascular treatment on flow conditions surrounding pathologies of interest. The method assumes negligible diffusion conditions, making 1000 fps high speed angiography (HSA), in which diffusion between 1 ms frames may be neglected, a strong candidate for velocimetric analysis using CDG. Previous studies have demonstrated the success of CDG analysis in obtaining velocimetric one-dimensional data at the arterial centerline of simple vasculature. This study seeks to resolve velocity distributions across the entire vessel using 2D-CDG analysis with HSA acquisitions.

HSA acquisitions for this study were obtained in vitro with a benchtop flow loop at 1000 fps using the XC-Actaeon (Direct Conversion Inc.) photon counting detector. 2D-CDG analyses were compared with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) via automatic co-registration of the results from each velocimetry method. This comparison was performed using mean absolute error between pixel values in each method (after temporal averaging).

CDG velocity magnitudes were slightly under approximated relative to CFD results (mean velocity 27 cm/s, mean absolute error 4.3 cm/s) as a result of incomplete contrast filling. Relative 2D spatial velocity distributions in CDG analysis agreed well with CFD distributions qualitatively.

CDG may be used to obtain velocity distributions in and surrounding vascular pathologies provided diffusion is negligible relative to convection in the flow, given a continuous gradient of contrast.
