Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic recurrent inflammatory disease of the intestine, including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), whose etiology and pathogenesis have not been fully understood. Due to its prolonged course and chronic recurrence, IBD imposes a heavy economic burden and psychological stress on patients. Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine has unique advantages in IBD treatment because of its symptomatic treatment. However, the advantages of the Chinese Herbal Medicine Formula (CHMF) have rarely been discussed. In recent years, many scholars have conducted fundamental studies on CHMF to delay IBD from different perspectives and found that CHMF may help maintain intestinal integrity, reduce inflammation, and decrease oxidative stress, thus playing a positive role in the treatment of IBD. Therefore, this review focuses on the mechanisms associated with CHMF in IBD treatment. CHMF has apparent advantages. In addition to the exact composition and controlled quality of modern drugs, it also has multi-component and multi-target synergistic effects. CHMF has good prospects in the treatment of IBD, but its multi-agent composition and wide range of targets exacerbate the difficulty of studying its treatment of IBD. Future research on CHMF-related mechanisms is needed to achieve better efficacy.
To evaluate and compare image quality and radiation dose between the helical and wide-volume scans to determine the protocol that provides a lower radiation dose without loss in image quality.

The study was prospectively conducted on consented adult patients that presented for routine brain CT. Image quality and radiation dose were compared between the helical and wide-volume scans on the Toshiba 160-slice Aquilion Prime CT scanner. The volume computed tomography dose index (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP) for each scan mode were collected and compared. Image quality was quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated using the unenhanced brain CT images. The data were analysed using a statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software version 20 for both the descriptive and inferential statistics. A significant difference in image quality and radiation dose between the helical and wide-volume scans was determined based on a p-value of <0.05.

A total of 54 participants were included, with two nical conditions warrant the need for a helical scan, the protocol should be optimised in line with the as low as reasonable achievable (ALARA) principle. The submission, revision and post-publication process is an often-underappreciated aspect of the manuscript writing journey. It can be quite challenging to navigate journal submission systems, understand the complexities of responding to reviewer feedback, and figuring out how to promote your work post-publication. Part one of this series discussed how to begin your research and write up the results for submission [1]. LJI308 manufacturer This second part highlights the rewards and challenges involved in the publication of your work.
Little is known about the role of protective factors in suicidal ideation among medical students. This study aimed to examine the association between suicidal ideation and protective (self-esteem/ego-resiliency/social support) and risk (depression/social anxiety) factors.

Data on sociodemographic factors, depression, social anxiety, self-esteem, ego-resiliency, social support, and current suicidal ideation were collected from 408 medical students. A logistic regression model was constructed to identify the independent impact of potential influencing factors on suicidal ideation. Potential moderating effects were also explored.

Thirty-eight participants (9.3%) reported experiencing suicidal ideation. Younger age, higher levels of depression, social anxiety, and lower levels of self-esteem, ego-resiliency, and social support were found to be significantly correlated with suicidal ideation. In the final model, higher levels of depression and social anxiety were associated with an increased risk of suicidal ideation, while higher levels of self-esteem and social support were associated with a decreased risk of suicidal ideation. Although the independent effect was not significant, the interactions of ego-resiliency with both depression and social anxiety on suicidal ideation were significant. Higher levels of ego-resiliency acted as a buffer against suicidal ideation among those with higher levels of depression or social anxiety.

In addition to risk factors, this study revealed the underlying protective and moderating factors of suicidal ideation among medical students. Mental health programs focusing on enhancing ego-resiliency, self-esteem, and social support may contribute to suicide prevention in medical students.

Dietary patterns developed by the USDA provide modest levels of protein (14-18% energy) within the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range (AMDR) of 10-35% for adults, though diets providing a higher percentage of energy may be beneficial for some individuals. The purpose of this study was to determine if it is feasible to modify the Healthy U.S.-StyleEating Pattern ("HEP") to provide a higher percentage ofenergy from protein.

Using the framework implemented by the USDA in developing the HEP, energy from protein was set at 20%, 25%, and 30%. Amounts of protein foods were proportionally increased while amounts of other foods were adjusted iteratively within specified parameters. The models also disaggregated total meat/poultry into fresh and processed forms to develop patterns maintaining current proportions, current levels, reduced, or no processed meat/poultry. Nutrient intakes were compared with nutrient goals for representative U.S. populations with 2,000kcal needs (females 19-30years, males 51-70y protein, though the pattern with 25% energy from protein may be more idealistic than realistic. Reduced levels of processed meat/poultry may translate to lower sodium intake.

To consolidate the available evidence around ethnic minority women's experiences and needs when accessing maternity care.

A qualitative systematic review and meta-aggregation of qualitative data were conducted. Nine electronic databases were searched for qualitative or mixed-methods studies from the inception of each database until January 2022. Using the Nested-Knowledge software, meta-aggregation was conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) data synthesis approach to identify all potential intersections between different themes. Methodological quality of included studies was assessed using the JBI Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI-QARI) and the mixed-methods appraisal tool (MMAT) checklists for qualitative and mixed-methods studies, respectively.

Twenty-two studies (nineteen qualitative and three mixed-methods) were included. All studies were of good methodological quality. An overarching theme 'the struggles and fears of ethnic minority women' was identified. The negatcriminated against and disrespected. There is an urgent need to develop and implement maternity care policies that are inclusive of needs of the ethnic minority women to optimize their maternity care experience.
The pre- and post-induction chemotherapy tumor volumes of nasopharyngeal carcinomas may be prognostic indicators for adapting the therapeutic strategy. The objective of our study is to assess the prognostic impact of pre- and post-induction chemotherapy volumes in patients treated for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinomas.

This is a retrospective study including 52 patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated with 3 courses of induction chemotherapy (TPF) followed by intensity modulated radiotherapy associated with concomitant chemotherapy.

The median initial and post induction chemotherapy total volumes were 92.3 and 41.5mL, respectively. At 3 years, the LRFS, DMFS, DFS and OS were respectively 85.9%, 63.5%, 56.8% and 67.8%. In multivariate study, the combination of a high initial volume (>100mL) and post-chemotherapy volume (>35mL) was an independent factor for LRFS, DMFS, DFS and OS. The total baseline volume had a better predictive prognostic value for DFS and OS than the TNM classification (8th edition 2017).

The prognostic weight of tumor and nodal volumes was greater than the TNM classification (8th edition). The pre- and post-chemotherapy tumor volumes allow selecting a high-risk patients' subgroup "high initial and post chemotherapy volumes" in which it would be advisable to offer more intensive treatment regimens.

Malan syndrome (MALNS) is a recently described ultrarare syndrome lacking guidelines for diagnosis, management and monitoring of evolutive complications. Less than 90 patients are reported in the literature and limited clinical information are available to assure a proper health surveillance.

A multidisciplinary team with high expertise in MALNS has been launched at the "Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù", Rome, Italy. Sixteen Italian MALNS individuals with molecular confirmed clinical diagnosis of MALNS were enrolled in the program. For all patients, 1-year surveillance in a dedicated outpatient Clinic was attained. The expert panel group enrolled 16 patients and performed a deep phenotyping analysis directed to clinically profiling the disorder and performing critical revision of previously reported individuals. Some evolutive complications were also assessed. Previously unappreciated features (e.g., high risk of bone fractures in childhood, neurological/neurovegetative symptoms, noise sensitivity and Chiari malformation type 1) requiring active surveillance were identified. A second case of neoplasm was recorded. No major cardiovascular anomalies were noticed. An accurate clinical description of 9 new MALNS cases was provided.

Deep phenotyping has provided a more accurate characterization of the main clinical features of MALNS and allows broadening the spectrum of disease. A minimal dataset of clinical evaluations and follow-up timeline has been proposed for proper management of patients affected by this ultrarare disorder.
