10% (A. indica) for sulphur. Besides A. leiocarpa charcoal, which ranked safest during combustion, the high PM2.5 and CO emissions make the other biofuels hazardous indoors. Kitchens need air filters to absorb these emissions together with the use of improved cook stoves. These carcinogenic metalloids would necessitate that their ashes be properly discarded without human contact. Yet, the charcoals would be much suitable as soil amendment bio-char for plant growth quality improvement.Deicing reagents are priority soil pollutants in urban ecosystems. Sodium chloride is one of the priority deicing reagents. Sodium chloride is limiting the spread of lawn grass. We first showed the possibility of using environmental biotechnology in urban greening to obtain lawn grasses tolerant of sodium chloride. We have developed a cell selection technology to obtain salt-tolerant lawn grasses. A cell selection scheme with 1% sodium chloride was used. Most of the tested regenerants were more tolerant to NaCl than original plants. The descendants of the studied regenerants demonstrated the preservation of salt resistance. Most of the descendants of the regenerants Agrostis stolonifera retained high decorative qualities under salinity conditions. The tolerance remained in the next five generations. The descendants of the most salt-tolerant clones Agrostis stolonifera demonstrated resistance to 1% sodium chloride concentration in soil. These plants can serve as the basis for the creation of new salt-tolerant varieties.Previous studies demonstrated that short-term exposure to gaseous pollutants (nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and ozone (O3)) had a greater adverse effect on cardiovascular disease. However, little evidence exists regarding the synergy between gaseous pollutants and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Therefore, we aimed to estimate the effect of individual gaseous pollutants on hospital admissions for CVD and to explore the possible synergistic effects between gaseous pollutants. Daily hospitalization counts for CVD were collected from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2015. We also collected daily time series on gaseous pollutants from the Environment of the People's Republic of China, including NO2, SO2, and O3. We used distributed lag nonlinear models (DLNMs) to assess the association of individual gaseous pollutants on CVD hospitalization, after controlling for seasonality, day of the week, public holidays, and weather variables. Then, we explored the variability across age and sex groups. In addir disease hospitalization in the elderly (≥ 65). This study provides evidence for the synergistic effect of gaseous pollutants on hospital admissions for cardiovascular disease.Sustainable development policies for achieving net-zero emissions require understanding the factors that influence carbon emissions. Capitalizing on the limitations of the existing literature, this study applies the quantile-on-quantile approach to investigate economic globalization's impact on carbon emissions in Australia for 1970-2018. The results from the quantile-on-quantile revealed a positive feedback linkage between globalization and carbon emissions at all quantiles. The results further indicated that while there is a positive feedback linkage between economic growth and carbon emissions at most quantiles, a positive feedback interconnection exists between carbon emissions and coal consumption at all quantiles. As a robustness check, we employed the quantile regression test, and the results from quantile regression are consistent with the findings from the quantile-on-quantile approach. The consistency of the results suggests that these study findings are reliable and suitable for informing policies that seek to address carbon emissions in Australia. The policy implications for Australia are discussed.Accumulation of copper (Cu) in soils due to the application of fungicides may be toxic for organisms and hence affect winegrowing sustainability. Soil parameters such as pH and dissolved organic matter (DOM) are known to affect the availability of Cu. In this study, we investigated the contribution of chromophoric and fluorescent DOM properties to the prediction of Cu availability in 18 organic vineyard soils in the Bordeaux winegrowing area (France). The DOM parameters, assessed through absorbance and fluorescence analyses, and proxies for Cu availability (total soluble Cu and free ionic Cu2+) were measured in 0.01 M KCl extracts. Total soluble Cu (CuKCl) varied 23-fold while free ionic Cu2+ varied by a factor of 4600 among the soils. DOC concentrations were similar among the soils, but the samples differed in the quality of DOM as assessed by optical spectroscopy. Multilinear regression models with and without DOM quality parameters were investigated to predict Cu availability. The best model for CuKCl successfully explained 83% of variance and included pH, CuT, and two DOM fluorescence quality indices, the FI fluorescence index, which distinguishes between microbial and higher plant origins, and the HIX humification index. For the prediction of Cu2+, pH alone explained 88% of variance and adding DOM parameters did not improve modelling. The two Cu availability proxies were related to pH. This study confirms the prominent role of pH in Cu availability and underlines the importance of DOM quality to better predict Cu solubility.A green and-easy to operate method, the microwave technology, was developed to promote the desulfurization process of phosphate rock, systematically investigates the strengthening effect of microwave, and uses XRD, BET, SEM, XRF, ICP, and EDS to characterize the reactants. The results show that the main reason for the desulfurization efficiency is improved by microwave heating under microwave conditions, different thermal stress phosphate rock materials lead to the destruction of each microstructure, and a specific surface area increased 40.25% phosphate rock. In addition, after microwave irradiation, the pore size of the phosphate rock at 2-5 nm is significantly increased, and the number of mesopores is significantly increased, thereby increasing the desulfurization efficiency of the phosphate rock. By investigating the effects of temperature, oxygen content, flow rate, and solid-liquid ratio on desulfurization efficiency, the paper concludes that the optimal conditions for desulfurization of phosphate rock after microwave irradiation are C(SO2) is 2500 mg·m-3, temperature is 40 °C, φ(O2) is 5%, solid-liquid ratio is 3.5 g200 ml, and flue gas flow is 500 ml·min-1.Green building development(GBD) plays an important role in improving carbon emission reduction efficiency of the construction industry(CEEOCI), and accelerating the construction industry to achieve carbon neutrality goals. In this paper, for the first time, the topic of "green building development promotes carbon neutrality in the construction industry" is included in the crossover research category of industrial economics and space economics. A framework for the analysis of the impact mechanism of GBD and CEEOCI under the dual perspective of "industry-space" is proposed. Based on China's provincial panel data from 2008 to 2019, using the intermediary adjustment model and the spatial Dubin model to analyze and test the industrial mechanism, spatial mechanism, and spatial effect attenuation boundary of the GBD effect on CEEOCI. The results show GBD is found to promote CEEOCI, and both the GBD and CEEOCI have a clear "center-periphery" spatial pattern. Meanwhile, the impact of GBD on CEEOCI has a "industry-space" two-dimensional mechanism. RRx-001 molecular weight From an industrial perspective, GBD can change the supply-demand relationship of the construction market by promoting the greening of supporting industries in the construction industry and stimulating green consumption in the market, and ultimately achieve the overall improvement of CEEOCI. From a spatial perspective, GBD can form a new sectoral growth pole and provide elemental support for the improvement of CEEOCI through the polarization effect, but the polarization effect is higher in the range of 1000 km, while attenuation occurs outside the range of 1000 km. This paper provides not only a scientific and effective medium and macro analysis framework for green building development emission reduction performance evaluation but also a new theoretical basis and policy direction for the construction industry to improve carbon reduction efficiency and achieve industrial carbon neutrality.Elevated vanadium in the environment adversely affects organisms, including plants, animals, and humans. Plants act as the main conduit for environmental vanadium to enter the food chain, and simultaneously their growth response characteristics reflect vanadium toxicity efficacy for plants. The aim of the present study is to investigate lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) growth involving morphological change, physiological adjustment, vanadium accumulation under vanadium stress, and the potential health risk (expressed as health risk index (HRI)) of adults and children who consume it. Lettuce was grown in nutrient solution with 0, 0.1, 0.5, 2.0, and 4.0 mg L-1 of pentavalent vanadium [V(V)]. Results showed that 0.1 mg L-1 V did not significantly affect lettuce growth versus control, and marked depression arose at ≥ 0.5 mg L-1 V. Foliar proline increased rapidly at ≥ 0.5 mg L-1 V. No striking change emerged in leaf cell membrane permeability at all treatments. V(V) and total vanadium concentration in plant tissues were ordered as root > stem > leaf, while tetravalent vanadium [V(IV)] was leaf > root > stem. No health risk (HRI less then 1) exists for adults and children who consume lettuce at control treatment. However, the health risk occurs (HRI ˃ 1) when they both ingest the seedlings exposed to ≥ 0.1 mg L-1 V, and the risk overall markedly increases with increasing vanadium. Therefore, enough attention needs to be paid to the human health associated with the ingestion of vegetables like lettuce grown in substrata contaminated by vanadium.A large amount of ammonia volatilization from the agricultural system causes environmental problems and increases production costs. Conservation agriculture has emerged as an alternate and sustainable crop production system. Therefore, in the present study, ammonia losses from different agricultural practices were evaluated for the wheat crop under different tillage practices. The results of the present study showed that the cumulative emission of ammonia flux from the wheat field varied from 6.23 to 24.00 kg ha-1 (P ≤ 0.05) in conservation tillage (CA) and 7.03 to 26.58 kg ha-1 (P ≤ 0.05) in conventional tillage (CT) among different treatments. Application of basal 80% nitrogen resulted in the highest ammonia flux in conventional and conservation tillage practices. The ammonia volatilization followed the following trend urea super granules with band placement > neem-coated urea with band placement > neem-coated urea with broadcast before irrigation > neem-coated urea with broadcast after irrigation > slow-release N fertilizer (urea stabilized with DCD and N(n-butyl)thiophosphoric triamide) with band placement. The conservation agricultural practices involving conservation tillage appear to be a sustainable approach for minimizing ammonia volatilization and improving wheat productivity.
