Hearing Verification Combined with Targeted Gene Cell Tests Increased Etiological Analytical Produce within Hard of hearing Youngsters.
The purpose of this study was to determine the results of an arthrodesis technique of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ) using a precontoured dorsal plate to correct the hallux valgus deformity.

This was a retrospective analysis of outcomes for first MTPJ arthrodesis performed using 2 precontoured dorsal plates. Radiographic outcomes (intermetatarsal angle [IMA] and hallux valgus angle [HVA]) and patient-reported functional outcome measures (Short-Form 12 and Foot and Ankle Outcome Score) were recorded and compared.

Fifty-five patients underwent 77 first MTPJ arthrodeses for severe hallux valgus deformity with associated degenerative changes at the first MTPJ. The mean reduction of the IMA was 5.67° (
< .05) and the mean reduction of the HVA was 33° (
< .05). The Short-Form 12 assessment of global health demonstrated a significant improvement in both the physical and mental health composite scores by 16.4 points and 10.4 points (
< .05), respectively. The Foot and Ankle Outcome Score demonstrated a cumulative decrease of 35% (59.28;
< .05) in all domains.

First MTPJ arthrodesis using a precontoured dorsal plate is a successful procedure with a high union rate, low complication rate, and a high level of patient-reported satisfaction.

Level III.Considering the weak role of public health insurance in South Korea, this study identified the impact of older consumers' coping resources such as income and education, well-being (e. g., successful aging and quality of life), and psychological and economic aspects affecting potential stressors on their purchasing of private health insurance (PHI) based on proactive coping theory. From the sixth wave of the 2016 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA), a sample of 1,224 Korean older adults aged above 65 years was used; binary logistic regression was conducted to identify the association of PHI and purchase decision factors, first separately for two groups (lower/higher use of health care services), and then for the total group. The results showed that older adults with higher levels of well-being, especially with a higher successful aging index and coping resources such as income are more likely to purchase PHI in all three groups.Weigela florida (Bunge) A. DC. is a dense, rounded, deciduous shrub commonly planted in landscapes. It is also used in Chinese medicine to treat sore throat, erysipelas, cold, and fever (Zheng et al. 2019). In May 2019, leaf spots were observed on approximately 50% of W. florida plants grown in the Wisdom Plaza Park of Anhui Agricultural University in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. Leaf spots begun as small light brown and irregular lesions, enlarged, turned reddish brown, coalesced to form large blighted areas, and eventually covered the entire leaf surface. Five pieces of tissues were removed from the lesion margins of each diseased leaf (five leaves from five different plants), chopped into several 3-4 mm2 pieces, disinfected with 1.5% NaOCl for 2 min, rinsed 3 times with sterile distilled water for 1 min, plated onto Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium containing 50 μg/ml of ampicillin and kanamycin, and incubated at 25°C with a 12-hour photoperiod for 5 days. One segment of the fungal growth from the growin to keep high relative humidity. The average air temperature was about 28°C during the period of pathogenicity test. The experiment was repeated once. Ten days after inoculation, the fungal-inoculated leaves developed light brown lesions resembling those of naturally infected leaves, control leaves did not develop any symptoms. E. layuense was recovered from leaf lesions and its identity was confirmed by morphological and sequence analyses as described above. To our knowledge, E. layuense has been previously reported as a pathogen of Perilla sp. (Chen et al. 2017), oat (Avena sativa) (Chen et al. 2019), and tea (Camellia sinensis) plants (Chen et al. 2020), but this is the first report of E. layuense causing leaf spot on W. florida in China. This pathogen could pose a threat to the ornamental value of W. florida plants. Thus, it is necessary to adopt effective management strategies against leaf spot on W. florida.Foot rot of sweet potato caused by Diaporthe destruens severely affects yield and quality worldwide. Research on this pathogen is limited due to non-availability of genome resources. Here, we report a high-quality genome sequence of D. destruens isolate CRI 305-2,which was originally isolated from infected stem of sweet potato in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. The genome comprised a total length of 56,108,228 bp, consisted of 47 scaffolds with an overall G+C content of 48.7% and an N50 of 2,479,481 bp. This resource that can be used as a reference for evolution mechanisms and comparative genomic research.Diverse field characteristics, weather patterns, and management practices can result in variable microclimates. The objective was to relate in-field microclimate conditions with peanut diseases and yield and determine the effect of irrigation and fungicides within these environments. Irrigation did not have a major impact on disease and yield. Stem rot (Athelia rolfsii) and early (Passalora arachidicola) and late (Nothopassalora personata) leaf spot were most affected by changes in environmental patterns across seasons. Average non-treated stem rot was 12.9% in 2017 which dropped considerably in 2018 to 0.2% but emerged again in 2019 to 3.2%. Stem rot incidence varied across the field, and the response to fungicides depended on management zone. Leaf spot defoliation in non-treated plots was severe in 2019 reaching an average of 73% at 126 days after planting but only reached 15% in 2017 and 35% in 2019 at the same stage. A low-input fungicide schedule was able to reduce foliar disease in all zones and seasons, but the microclimatic conditions in the low-lying area favored leaf spot in 2017 and 2018 although not in the dryer 2019 season. Seasonal differences in disease and plant growth affected the level of protection against average yield loss using a standard low-input program which in 2017 (527 kg/ha) was not as great as 2018 (2,235 kg/ha) or 2019 (1,763 kg/ha). Disease prediction models built on dynamic environmental factors in the context of multiple pathogens and natural field conditions could be developed to improve within-season management decisions for more efficient fungicide inputs.Oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) is one of the most important oilseed crops in China. It is widely cultivated in China, with winter oilseed rape in Yangtze River basin and in southern China, and spring oilseed rape in northern China. In August 2017, a survey for Leptosphaeria spp. on spring oilseed rape was conducted in Minle county, Zhangye city, Gansu Province, China. The symptoms typical of blackleg on basal stems of oilseed rape were observed in the field. A large number of black fruiting bodies (pycnidia) were present on the lesions (Fig. 1A). check details The disease incidence of basal stem infection in the surveyed field was 19%. A total of 19 diseased stems were collected to isolate the pathogen. After surface sterilizing (75% ethanol for 30 s, 5% NaOCl for 60 s, followed by rinsing in sterilized water three times), diseased tissues were cultured on acidified potato dextrose agar (PDA) plates at 20°C for 7 days. Twelve fungal isolates were obtained. All fungal isolates produced typical tan pigment on PDA medium, a. biglobosa 'brassicae' and L. biglobosa 'canadensis' appear to be the pathogens causing the observed blackleg symptoms on spring oilseed rape in Gansu, China. In previous studies, L. biglobosa 'brassicae' has been found in many crops in China, including oilseed rape (Liu et al. 2014; Cai et al. 2015), Chinese radish (Raphanus sativus) (Cai et al. 2014a), B. campestris ssp. chinensis var. purpurea (Cai et al. 2014b), broccoli (B. oleracea var. italica) (Luo et al. 2018), ornamental kale (B. oleracea var. acephala) (Zhou et al. 2019a), B. juncea var. multiceps (Zhou et al. 2019b), B. juncea var. tumida (Deng et al. 2020) and Chinese cabbage (B. rapa subsp. pekinensis) (Yu et al. 2021 accepted). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of L. biglobosa 'canadensis' causing blackleg on B. napus in China.Wishbone flower (Torenia fournieri L.) is a common ornamental plant for flower bed in Taiwan. In August 2018, root and stem rot of wishbone flower occurred on the flower bed in the campus of National Chung Hsing University, Taichung city, with 100% incidence. Symptoms were dark brown discoloration of basal stems and brown necrosis of roots. Lesions from base of stems were excised into 5 mm long fragments, which were then surface sterilized in 1% sodium hydrochloride for 1 min, rinsed in sterile distilled water, dried on filter paper and thereafter placed onto 2% water agar. After 24 h, hyphae characteristic of Rhizoctonia (Sneh et al. 1991) appeared and dominated in every isolation. Hyphal tips were transferred to potato dextrose agar (PDA). After 5 days of incubation at 28°C, characteristic brown colonies of Rhizoctonia (Sneh et al. 1991) were observed. Hyphal width was 4.29±0.52 μm. No sclerotia were visibly present after 21 days of growth on PDA at 28°C. Hyphae were stained by 0.3% safranin-O and 1% KOH. Twere inoculated by pouring 50 ml of slurry onto the potting medium. Five pots were served as the controls by pouring PDB only. Pots were maintained in a greenhouse (26 to 33°C). Three days after inoculation, all inoculated plants exhibited symptom of root and stem rot. The same fungus was reisolated and confirmed by sequencing rDNA-ITS. This is the first report of root and stem rot of wishbone flower caused by binucleate Rhizoctonia AG-L in Taiwan and in the world. Although this is the second cases, since Wang and Hsieh (1993), for binucleate Rhizoctonia AG-L to be pathogenic, this study shows that this fungus has the potential to cause damages and is worth of further investigations.Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) are phytoanticipins found in solanaceous crops that act as the first line of chemical defense against pathogen attacks. Solanum sisymbriifolium, a trap crop for potato cyst nematodes, has been shown to effectively reduce populations of Globodera pallida. Solanum sisymbriifolium contains α- solamargine and other solasodine type glycoalkaloids that may contribute to plant defenses. The current study evaluated the influence of solanaceous SGAs on G. pallida hatch, development, and reproduction. Exposure to α- solamargine and α- solamarine reduced G. pallida hatch by 65 % and 87 % respectively. Exposure of G. pallida cysts with the glycoalkaloids α- solamargine and solasodine significantly reduced infection in susceptible potato Russet Burbank by 98 and 94 % compared to the control. Exposure of cysts to either solasodine or solamargine significantly reduced reproduction of G. pallida on Russet Burbank by 99 % compared to the control. The study demonstrated the deleterious effect of SGAs on G. pallida hatch, infection, and reproduction.During August and September 2020, symptoms of leaf chlorosis, stunting, and wilting were observed on indoor hemp plants (Cannabis sativa L. cv. 'Wedding Cake') in a commercial indoor facility located in Coolidge, Arizona. Plants were grown in soilless coconut coir growing medium (Worm Factory COIR250G10), watered with 1.5 to 2.1 liters every 24 h through drip irrigation, and supplemented with 18 h of lighting. About 35% of plants displayed symptoms as described above and many symptomatic plants collapsed. To identify the causal agent, crown and root tissues from four symptomatic plants were harvested and rinsed with tap water. Tissue fragments (approx. 2 to 4 mm in size) were excised from the margins of the stem and root lesions, surface sterilized in 0.6% sodium hypochlorite for 1 min, rinsed well in sterile distilled water, blotted dry, and plated on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and on oomycete-selective clarified V8 media containing pimaricin, ampicillin, rifampicin, and pentachloronitrobenzene (PARP). Plates were incubated at room temperature (21-24 oC).
