Future studies testing the safety of patient's own amnion for palatoplasty, are required.The effectiveness of commercial oxygen scavengers was investigated in order to increase the shelf-life of sliced dry-cured Iberian shoulder in MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) for up to 150 days. Five dry-cured shoulders from Iberian pigs were used. Slices of these dry-cured shoulders were randomly packaged in MAP conditions. An active packaging (AP) with oxygen scavengers was evaluated to reduce the level of oxygen within the headspace as close to 0% as possible. AP was compared to a Control Treatment (C) (without scavenger). Sliced dry-cured Iberian shoulder in AP showed lower thiobarbituric acid reactive substances values (TBARS) than control packages after 150 days of storage, and in general, volatile compounds derived from lipid oxidation, increased in C packages, whereas these remained steady in AP. Therefore, AP was effective to decrease the development of lipid oxidation during storage. Retrospective cohort study.

The main purpose of the present study was to report the incidence and identify predictors of reoperation in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) treated with percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal decompression (PETD).

This study retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients with LSS who underwent PETD at our center between January 2016 and July 2020. The incidence of reoperations was calculated. We then designed a surgical period-matched case-control study to identify predictors among demographic data, clinical baseline data, and imaging parameters.

This study identified 496 eligible patients. 33 (6.7%) patients underwent reoperation with a mean follow-up of 3years, consisting 22 (4.4%) at the index level and 11 (2.2%) at the adjacent levels. There were significant differences in age and age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index (AACCI) between the two groups, with younger age (P = .004) and lower AACCI (P = .019) in reoperation group. Age was identified as the sole independent predictor (P = .006). The duration of symptoms ≥12months (P = .034) and the presence of heart problems (P = .012) were recognized as specific predictors among patients younger than 65years.

Younger patients with the duration of symptoms ≥12months or without heart problems were more likely to undergo a second operation. The study aimed to reinvestigate psychological mechanisms of the influence of construction workers' experience on hazard recognition performance, with signal detection theory (SDT) and electroencephalogram (EEG) readings.

Existing evidence regarding the effect of experience on hazard recognition performance in the construction industry remains inconsistent. Behavior-wise, identification of dominant hazard recognition factors (sensitivity or response bias, or both) would help determine appropriate training strategies to improve hazard recognition. In terms of neuro-responses, induced gamma-band activity was expected to reflect the cognitive functions mediating the psychological effects of experience.

Seventy-seven construction workers participated in a predesigned hazard recognition task, in which participants judged whether a hazard was present from a series of construction scenario pictures. We computed and compared the sensitivity and response bias of SDT and time-frequency representations of recorded EEG signals of the two experience-level groups.

Novice workers had higher hazard recognition rates. Behavior-wise, novices were more sensitive than more experienced workers. Compared with experienced workers, novices showed stronger gamma-band difference power (hazardous minus safe) in the left frontal and right posterior parietal areas during the hazard recognition process.

Novices performed better at hazard recognition, indicating their sensitivity to the hazards without a clear difference in response bias. Based on the EEG data, novices' sensitivity may be attributed to more efficient working memory and attentional control.

Investigate the patterns of fused lumbar alignment in patients requiring revision surgery for proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK).

Fifty patients (67.8 yo, 76% female) with existing thoraco-lumbar fusion (T10/12 to pelvis) and indicated for surgical correction for PJK were included. To investigate patterns of radiographic alignment prior to PJK revision, unsupervised 2-step cluster analysis was run on parameters describing the fused lumbar spine (PI-LL) to identify natural independent groups within the cohort. Clusters were compared in terms of demographics, pre-operative alignment, surgical parameters, and post-operative alignment. Associations between pre- and post-revision PJK angles were investigated using a Pearson correlation analysis.

 Emicizumab, a bispecific monoclonal antibody for hemophilia A (HA), has strong pharmacodynamic effects in several coagulation assays resulting in dosing difficulties with Factor VIII (FVIII) concentrates during bleeding emergencies.

Single and multiple regression models were studied to estimate FVIII activity using 27 archived plasma samples from three patients with HA without inhibitor under emicizumab treatment. Explanatory variables were FVIII chromogenic assay (CSA), Ad|min1|, Ad|min2|, the number of seconds of APTT, and the FVIII one-stage assay (OSA), which were measured without idiotype antibodies. The response variable was FVIII OSA measured with idiotype antibodies.

In the simple linear model, the FVIII CSA regression coefficient was 1.04 and the intercept was -14.55 (

< 0.001). In the multiple regression model, FVIII OSA and FVIII CSA were selected based on the Akaike Information Criterion, with regression coefficients of 1.74 and 1.15, respectively, and an intercept of -92.03 (
