To identify radiological findings of diaphragmatic mesothelial cysts (DMC) in the pediatric age group and to assess follow-up outcomes. In this study, 27 pediatric age group patients were evaluated with ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT), or magnetic resonance imaging due to various clinical indications and diagnosed with DMC from May 2014 to September 2018. Age, sex, imaging indications and DMC localization, volumes in the first diagnosis, and follow-ups were retrospectively evaluated. Descriptive statistics were used for age, sex, imaging indications, and volume are presented as numbers and percentages.Ages range from 5 months to 13 years. Nine girls and 18 boys included in this study. The most common imaging indications were abdominal pain, diarrhea, and obesity. The mean volume of DMC was at first 2.62 and 2.45 mL during the follow-ups. There was volume reduction in 24 cases, and no change in 3 cases. Mean follow-up duration was 22.4 months. The US imaging findings were similar for all cases, ntages.Ages range from 5 months to 13 years. Nine girls and 18 boys included in this study. The US imaging findings were similar for all cases, bilobular cystic lesion with fat indentation between the cyst and liver parenchyma. The typical localization and lateral fat sign are useful in differential diagnosis of DMC from cystic lesions of liver. The US is a very effective and beneficial radiological method for diagnosis and follow-up. Routine clinical and sonographic follow-ups may be sufficient for asymptomatic patients with stable cyst volume.
Cystadenofibromas (CAFs) are relatively rare benign ovarian tumors. This study was to describe the ultrasound (US) findings of CAFs. read more Preoperative US information of 86 CAFs was retrospectively collected. To better illustrate their characteristic, 173 cystadenomas (CADs), 103 borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs), and 129 cystadenocarcinomas (CACs) were recruited as match groups. Besides morphology evaluation, tumors were categorized by the Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System US system. Higher-risk stratification in CAFs was more often being seen than CADs (63% of CAFs classified as Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System 4 or 5 vs 35% in CADs). Cystadenofibromas more commonly appeared as unilocular or multilocular solid than CADs. Solid components presented in 59% of CAFs and papillary projections presented in 45%. More CAFs contained solid components and papillary projections than CADs (P < 0.0001). When compared with BOTs and CACs, less CAFs contained solid components (P < 0.017 and P < 0.0001) CADs, most CAFs were avascular (76%) and without ascites (99%), which were significantly different from BOTs and CACs. We concluded that the sonographic markers for CAFs that differ from malignant were presence of shadowing, avascular, and absence of ascites.
Knowledge of the normal size of important abdominal vessels is important for determination of hydration status and intravascular volume. Knowing the normal value of superior mesenteric artery (SMA) exit angle from the aorta (SMA angle) is necessary for the diagnosis of clinical pathologies caused by SMA compression.

The aim of this study was to determine the normal SMA angles and normal diameters of the main abdominal vascular structures of pediatric participants on ultrasonography (USG).

Between January 2019 and July March 2019, the USG examinations obtained from 210 participants (age range, 1-214 years; mean age, 83.5 [SD, 5.5] months; females 51%, males 49%) with normal abdominal examinations were prospectively evaluated. The participants were divided into 5 groups according to age. Body mass index values of the participants were kept equal.

The diameters of the abdominal vascular structures increased with age, and the statistical differences among the age groups were significant. In all groups, no statistically significant difference was observed between sexes (P > 0.05). The SMA angle was between 17° and 58° (mean, 37.8° [SD, 8.5°]). A statistically significant difference was observed between the age groups in terms of SMA angle (P < 0.05). No statistically difference was found between sexes (P > 0.58-0.912).

In our study, we think that the measurements obtained by USG provide normal values of the diameters of the abdominal main vessels and SMA angle. These values can be used as a reference for interpreting hydration status, vascular diameter assessment, and SMA compression syndromes.

The aim of this study was to discuss the diagnostic value of high-resolution ultrasound and virtual touch tissue imaging quantification (VTIQ) for distinguishing metastatic and benign central lymph nodes (CLNs) in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma. This retrospective study involved 86 pathologically proven benign lymph nodes (LNs) and 118 metastatic LNs in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma. We analyzed the sonographic features of CLNs (size, shape, distribution, hilum, echogenicity, cystic change, calcification, vascularity, shear-wave velocity [SWV]). The prevalence of sonographic features and the SWV was compared between metastatic and benign CLNs. The size, shape, margin, distribution, presence of hilum, echogenicity, calcification, and vascularity were significantly different between benign and metastatic CLNs (P < 0.05 for all). The mean maximum SWV for malignant CLNs was 3.139 ± 0.408 m/s, whereas that of benign CLNs was 2.418 ± 0.369 m/s (P < 0.05). The cutoff point of the SWV fnce of sonographic features and the SWV was compared between metastatic and benign CLNs. The size, shape, margin, distribution, presence of hilum, echogenicity, calcification, and vascularity were significantly different between benign and metastatic CLNs (P less then 0.05 for all). The mean maximum SWV for malignant CLNs was 3.139 ± 0.408 m/s, whereas that of benign CLNs was 2.418 ± 0.369 m/s (P less then 0.05). The cutoff point of the SWV for differentiating benign and malignant LNs was 2.675 m/s. Logistic regression analysis showed that round or irregular shape, aggregation or fusion, calcification, and VTIQ value greater than 2.675 m/s of CLNs were independent risk factors for malignancy, with an odds ratio of 5.77, 3.05, 3.23, and 62.85, respectively. High-resolution ultrasound and VTIQ can provide valuable information for distinguishing metastatic from benign CLNs.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the variability of selecting the ultrasound features used in American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR-TIRADS) and in assigning the ACR-TIRADS level in a single center among radiologists and radiology residents. The study cohort consisted of 108 thyroid nodules in 102 patients who had definite cytology results after thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy (Bethesda category II, VI) or surgery. Seven observers including 3 radiologists and 4 radiology residents evaluated the nodules according to 5 ultrasound feature categories. link2 The evaluation process was performed after a joint meeting session, in which the "white papers" of the ACR-TIRADS committee were discussed regarding the thyroid ultrasound reporting lexicon, and final TIRADS system. link3 Variability of ultrasound features and assigning ACR-TIRADS level was measured using Fleiss kappa statistics. Agreement for ultrasound features was "substantial" to "almost perfect" among all observers, w in radiologist subgroup. Agreement of thyroid ultrasound features was "substantial to almost perfect" among all observers. Although the level of agreement among resident group decreased to "moderate" level, ACR-TIRADS is a useful system in thyroid nodule management.
Grayscale ultrasound (US) is decisive in stratifying which thyroid nodules benefit from fine-needle aspiration to evaluate for malignancy. Unfortunately, a significant percentage of nodules remain indeterminate.Herein, we review the clinical considerations and diagnostic accuracy of advanced US, Doppler US, contrast-enhanced US, and US elastography techniques in the evaluation of indeterminate nodules. We conclude that these techniques may be used in combination with grayscale US to improve the assessment of lesion vascularity and tissue property.

To assess the differences in the clinical and radiological outcomes between oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF) and minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF).

Nowadays, there is still a controversy regarding whether OLIF is superior to MI-TLIF in the management of degenerative lumbar disease.

Between August 3, 2019 and February 3, 2020, 137 patients were assigned to OLIF or MI-TLIF at their request and the surgeon's discretion 71 in the OLIF group and 66 in the MI-TLIF group. The perioperative data, patient-reported outcomes, radiographic outcomes, and complications were compared between the two groups.

The OLIF group showed shorter operation time (110.5 vs.183.8 minutes, P < 0.001), lesser estimated blood loss (123.1 vs. 232.0 mL, P < 0.001), shorter length of hospital stay (5.5 vs. 6.7 days, P < 0.001), and lower serum creatine kinase (CK) (1 day postoperatively) (376.0 vs. 541.8 IU/L, P < 0.01) than that of MI-TLIF group. Both grLIF is higher than that of MI-TLIF, it does not bring persistent and substantial damage to the patients.Level of Evidence 3.
Compared with MI-TLIF, OLIF showed similar results in terms of patient-reported outcomes, restoration of SLA and fusion rate, and superior results with respect to restoration of DH and LLA, operation time, estimated blood loss, length of hospital stay, and serum CK levels (1 day postoperatively). Even though the complication rate of OLIF is higher than that of MI-TLIF, it does not bring persistent and substantial damage to the patients.Level of Evidence 3.
Prevalence estimates of personality disorders (PD) in individuals with gender dysphoria (GD) are variable and heterogeneous, as psychiatric comorbidity and long-term follow-up data from gender-diverse samples are still limited. This review aims to assess prevalence rates across age groups and discuss potential reasons for variability in PD prevalence estimates among transgender people.

International epidemiological data from several countries indicate that the best available estimates of the prevalence of any PD diagnosis in transgender youth are around 20% for adolescents and tend to increase to nearly 50% in trans-adults. The paucity of available data on personality dysfunction in children and adolescents with GD precluded us from definitive conclusions on the trends of emerging PDs in this population. Estimates of PD prevalence in transgender and gender-diverse people seem to be highly affected by methodological characteristics of the studies with no universally agreed reference standards for this population.
