They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and it has a ton of customization options. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at a level that was just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit and never fluctuating more than a fraction an inch. This is essential to avoiding freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour, and maintained the temperature throughout our testing.

It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized door bins at each door as well as two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. You'll also find a full width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.


One of the great aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer frozen ice to the fridge to use as needed. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of items. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a little cheaper than the top counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice if you want a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. During my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a pretty good performance however it doesn't be among the top in our rankings.
