a tumour suppressor and is frequently silenced via m6 A modification in RCC, which may highlight m6 A methylation-based approach for RCC diagnosis and therapy.Photosynthetic organisms use sunlight as the primary energy source to fix CO2 . However, in nature, light energy is highly variable, reaching levels of saturation for periods ranging from milliseconds to hours. In the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, safe dissipation of excess light energy by nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ) is mediated by light-harvesting complex stress-related (LHCSR) proteins and redistribution of light-harvesting antennae between the photosystems (state transition). Although each component underlying NPQ has been documented, their relative contributions to NPQ under fluctuating light conditions remain unknown. Here, by monitoring NPQ in intact cells throughout high light/dark cycles of various illumination periods, we find that the dynamics of NPQ depend on the timescales of light fluctuations. We show that LHCSRs play a major role during the light phases of light fluctuations and describe their role in growth under rapid light fluctuations. We further reveal an activation of NPQ during the dark phases of all high light/dark cycles and show that this phenomenon arises from state transition. Finally, we show that LHCSRs and state transition synergistically cooperate to enable NPQ response during light fluctuations. These results highlight the dynamic functioning of photoprotection under light fluctuations and open a new way to systematically characterize the photosynthetic response to an ever-changing light environment. Results of broadband dielectric spectroscopy studies in liquid crystalline octyloxycyanobiphenyl (8OCB) and its colloids with BaTiO3 nanoparticles (paraelectric, diameter d = 50 nm) are presented. Studies were carried out in isotropic liquid, nematic, smectic A and solid crystalline phases. They are supported by derivative-based and distortion-sensitive analyses, revealing a set of universal scaling patterns for temperature evolution of static and dynamic dielectric properties. All these yielded evidence for a pretransitional fluctuation impact on the dielectric constant, primary relaxation time, loss curve maximum and translational-orientational decoupling associated with anomalous values of the fractional Debye-Stokes-Einstein (DSE) exponent 0.2 less then S less then 2.2. The evidence for critical like changes in a distribution of relaxation times is shown. For mesophases, a tiny addition of nanoparticles causes permanent orientation of LC molecules, leading even to a 16% increase of the dielectric constant above a maximal value in pure 8OCB. A split of two regions, dominated by pre-isotropic and pre-smectic fluctuations, is evidenced. Model explanations for detected phenomena, particularly in the isotropic liquid phase, are presented. New evidence for a premelting effect in the solid phase is also shown.Extensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed to disclose the beneficial aspects of TiO2 doping in SiO2 and sodium borosilicate (NBS) glasses. Significant amendment in short- and intermediate-range orders of glasses was captured by the radial distribution function, coordination number, bond/angle distribution profiles, structure factor, and probability of linking X-O-X' (where X and/or X' = Si, B, and Ti) structural motifs. Successively, the effect of microscopic structural modification on the macroscopic properties was analyzed in terms of mechanical strength, thermal stability, vibrational characteristics [(vibrational density of states (VDOS)], and chemical durability. The results show that Ti participates in the network chain in the form of TiO6 and TiO5 for the Ti-NBS glass whereas in the form of TiO6, TiO5, and TiO4 for the binary TiO2-SiO2 glass. The presence of TiO2 was found to strengthen the glass skeleton. However, the glass-transition temperature was also increased with Ti addition, urther MD simulations and experiments to disclose more interesting microstructures and dynamics due to the presence of TiO2 in glasses.
Pilonidal disease (PD) is a common and debilitating inflammatory condition with significant impact on quality of life. Minimally invasive techniques (MIT) have shown promising results comparing to traditional excision. Herein we present a comparison of two MIT techniques -sinusectomy (SE) and pit-picking plus laser ablation (PPL).
All cases of paediatric PD treated by PPL and SE at our center between August 2018 and August 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.
One-hundred and six patients were included, with a median age of 16 years (IQR 15-16). Paclitaxel price PPL was the procedure of choice in 36 patients (34%) and the remaining underwent SE (66%). Median healing time was significantly lower in SE group (20 days), comparing to PPL (30 days) (p=0.002). Early healing failure occurred more frequently in the PPL group (p=0.003). Recurrence rate was similar between groups - PPL 17% versus SE 16% (p=0.89). Overall complication rate was 9% and was significantly higher in PPL (p=0.03).
MIT techniques are promising solutions in PD treatment. Although similarly easy and fast to perform, SE technique showed better healing profile and lower complication rate but no significant difference on recurrence rates was observed.

Having a set of possible conformations for chemical structures and their corresponding energies, one can judge their chemical activity, understand the mechanisms of reactions, describe the formation of metal-ligand and ligand-protein complexes, and so forth. Despite the fact that the interest in various minima search algorithms in computational chemistry arose a while ago (during the formation of this science), new methods are still emerging. These methods allow to perform conformational analysis and geometry optimization faster, more accurately, or for more specific tasks. This article presents the application of a novel global geometry optimization approach based on the Tree Parzen Estimator method. For benchmarking, a database of small organic molecule geometries in the global minimum conformation was created, as well as a software package to perform the tests.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with the ACURATE neo device has been associated with a non-negligible incidence of paravalvular aortic regurgitation (AR). The new-generation ACURATE neo2 has been designed to mitigate this limitation.
The aim of the study was to compare TAVR with the ACURATE neo and neo2 devices.
The NEOPRO and NEOPRO-2 registries retrospectively included patients undergoing transfemoral TAVR with self-expanding valves at 24 and 20 centres, respectively. Patients receiving the ACURATE neo and neo2 devices (from January 2012 to December 2021) were included in this study. Predischarge and 30-day VARC-3 defined outcomes were evaluated. The primary endpoint was predischarge moderate or severe paravalvular AR. Subgroup analyses per degree of aortic valve calcification were performed.
A total of 2,026 patients (neo 1,263, neo2 763) were included. Predischarge moderate or severe paravalvular AR was less frequent for the neo2 group (2% vs 5%; p<0.001), resulting in higher VARC-3 intended valve performance (96% vs 90%; p<0.001). Furthermore, more patients receiving the neo2 had none/trace paravalvular AR (59% vs 38%; p<0.001). The reduction in paravalvular AR with neo2 was mainly observed with heavy aortic valve calcification. New pacemaker implantation and VARC-3 technical and device success rates were similar between the 2 groups; there were more frequent vascular and bleeding complications for the neo device. Similar 1-year survival was detected after TAVR (neo2 90% vs neo 87%; p=0.14).
TAVR with the ACURATE neo2 device was associated with a lower prevalence of moderate or severe paravalvular AR and more patients with none/trace paravalvular AR. This difference was particularly evident with heavy aortic valve calcification.

Diphallia occurs once in 5-6 million births, with no two patients presenting with the same anatomical variation. Here we discuss a review of diphallia case reports, as well as present a new surgical classification system based on the soft tissue composition of the two phalluses, the anatomy of the urethra present within the most normal phallus and the bladder configuration.
Eighty-seven diphallia case reports were collected and analysed, excluding those presented in animals and articles that were non-English, with the results compiled to provide an in-depth reference of the specific anatomy found in diphallia patients and the associated abnormalities.
Our proposed classification system was then applied to each patient and the most common configuration base on our classification system presented, along with commonly seen associated anomalies.
The reviewed cases represent a subset of the most unique diphallia patients; thus, several cases may be left unreported. Future reports can then be categorized, aiding as a reference, and potentially building on the classification, should the patient not fit into a specific group, leading to an expansion of the classification system.

The three emitter materials showed a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and a state-of-the-art narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 96 %/25 nm, 87 %/17 nm, and 99 %/19 nm, respectively. For m-DiNBO and p-DiNBO, the emission color could be tuned from blue to green by regulating the nonbonding/bonding molecular orbital characters. Owing to the expanded planar molecular structure, m-DiNBO and p-DiNBO showed high horizontal dipole ratio (Θ) of 88 % and 92 %, respectively. OLEDs were prepared with NBO, m-DiNBO, and p-DiNBO, exhibiting high external quantum efficiencies of 16.8 %, 24.2 %, and 21.6 %, respectively. NBO and m-DiNBO exhibited pure-blue emission with CIE coordinates of (0.137, 0.142) and (0.126, 0.098), respectively. p-DiNBO showed pure-green emission with a CIE coordinate of (0.258, 0.665).
Lung abscess is a rare condition in paediatrics with a paucity of literature. Intravenous antibiotics is the main therapy; however interventional radiological approaches have led to the use of percutaneous drainage. Surgery is reserved for the management of complications. The aim of this study was to describe lung abscess in a cohort of paediatric patients' and determine associations between factors at presentation and outcomes.
A 14-year retrospective cohort study was conducted including all children who presented to a tertiary paediatric hospital in Western Australia with lung abscess. Clinical characteristics, laboratory and radiologic findings, management options and clinical outcomes were examined.
Sixty-eight patients (median age 3.6 (0.08-17.6) years; 44.1% female) were identified to have a lung abscess, with 81% being primary lung abscess. Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) and Streptococcus pneumoniae were the most common organisms identified, with S. aureus being most common in Aboriginal patients (80%).
