The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's most recent and most elegant counter-depth French door refrigerator, priced at $4,200. It also performed well in our cooling test, however we aren't fans of the plastic handles or the flimsy crisper bins.

Bespoke is a feature that makes the RF23M8090SG stand out. It allows you to personalize your refrigerator with removable colored panels. There are 11 different colors, from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. Frydge can be customized to include photos or text. This makes the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon or tie-dye Crocs.

You can even alter the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is pretty. The interior of the refrigerator has an intelligent finish that reduces smudges, and makes cleaning simpler. Our test data indicates that the FGHB2866PF is able to warm up quite a bit in the freezer, and can get uncomfortably warm on the refrigerator's outermost shelves. That's reflected in our heat maps which show how internal temperatures vary from minute to minute. The butter bin in the orange section at the top right is particularly warm during our testing period. It may not appear to be a problem initially, but the fridge spends most of its time above 32 degrees.

It's important to note that this model is not Energy Star certified, which could be a major consideration for some buyers. But the real problem here is that it's not a great fridge, and the absence of advanced features and durable construction make it difficult to recommend it over better models in this price range.

This Frigidaire fridge is similar to the stainless steel model you might find in your local appliance store. It's a good choice with a brushed-finish that looks attractive and is resistant against smudges. However it's not offering much to differentiate itself from rivals which are more feature-rich and less expensive.

If you're looking for a counter-depth french-door fridge but don't want to spend much then the FGHC2331PF could be worth looking into. It's got enough storage for the majority of families, and is able to keep food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient model, it doesn't come close to costing more than our top-rated models do.
