Gain-of-function mutations in voltage-gated sodium channels (NaV1.7, NaV1.8, and NaV1.9) are known causes of inherited pain disorders. Identification and functional assessment of new NaV1.7 mutations could help elucidate the phenotypic spectrum of NaV1.7 channelopathies. We identified a novel NaV1.7 mutation (E44Q in exon 2) that substitutes a glutamic acid residue for glutamine in the cytoplasmic N-terminus of NaV1.7 in a patient with paroxysmal pain attacks during childhood and his family who experienced similar pain episodes. To study the sodium channel's function, we performed electrophysiological recordings. Voltage-clamp recordings revealed that the mutation increased the amplitude of the non-inactivating component of the sodium current, which might facilitate channel opening. These data demonstrate that E44Q is a gain-of-function mutation in NaV1.7, which is consistent with our patient's pain phenotype.Tillage, biochar, poultry manure, NPK fertilizer and their combined application could improve soil quality, sustainability and carrot productivity. The effects of two tillage treatments conventional tillage (CT) and reduced tillage (RT) each combined with 30 Mg ha-1 biochar (B), 10 Mg ha-1 poultry manure (PM), 300 kg ha-1 NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer, 150 kg ha-1 NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer +15 Mg ha-1 biochar +5 Mg ha-1 poultry manure and a control (no biochar/poultry manure/NPK fertilizer) on soil properties, growth and carrot yield were investigated. The research was carried out for two consecutive growing seasons (2018 and 2019) at Owo in the forest-savanna transition zone of Nigeria on a sandy loam. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design in a factorial combination of ten treatments and replicated three times. Reduced tillage had relatively lower soil bulk density, penetration resistance, dispersion ratio and temperature, and had significantly higher (p = 0.05) soil aggregate stability, quality and carrot yield than conventional tillage in combination with NPK fertilizer, biochar and poultry manure.
is currently the most widespread invasive mosquito species in the world. It has paramount medical importance since females are efficient vectors of important viruses affecting humans
The development of alternative control strategies to complement control measures has become an imperative and involves the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT). Research to improve the productivity of mass-rearing, as well as the quality of mass-reared males is of essential importance for the success of SIT.

This study compared the influence of three differently sized cages for
mass-rearing on wing length, adult survival and egg production during 20 generations of colonization. Plexiglas cages of 40x40x40 cm (C1), 100 × 20 × 100 cm (C2) and 100 × 65 × 100 cm (C3) were loaded with equal adult density, and sex ratio of 11. An open source image processing and analysis programme (ImageJ) was used for the wing measurement and egg counting.

In all tested cages, we identified two periods separated by the generation showing the minby exploiting the minimum space is a priority in mosquito mass-rearing, C2 might be a better choice for better fitting the space of mass-rearing rooms.
Collaborative practice in healthcare has been recommended to improve the quality of antimicrobial stewardship interventions, a behavioral change in antimicrobial use. Insufficient knowledge regarding antibiotic resistance, the fear of complications from infections, and how providers perceive antibiotic use and resistance are likely to influence prescribing behavior. This study's objective was to identify the knowledge and belief healthcare professionals' differences about antibiotic stewardship.

This cross-sectional survey study of three hospitals in the East Java province, Indonesia utilized a 43-item questionnaire to assess antimicrobial stewardship knowledge and belief. There were 12 knowledge questions (total possible score 12) and 31 belief questions (total possible score 155). The Kuder Richardson 20 (KR-20) and Cronbach alpha values of the questionnaire were 0.54 and 0.92, respectively.

Out of the 257 respondents, 19% (48/257) had a low scores of knowledge, and 39% (101/257) had low scores on belion and the quality of the antibiotic stewardship implementation.Pontine warning syndrome (PWS) is a condition characterized by crescendo transient ischemic attacks due to pontine ischemia. The reported case described a 72-year-old woman who presented repetitive sudden episodes of double vision, impaired balance, slurred speech and right-sided weakness. Neurological deficits lasted a few minutes-hours and disappeared during the first seven days after onset. On the 1st day, MRI revealed acute left paramedian pontine infarction with focal swelling. Supra-aortic vessel imagining revealed bilateral internal carotid stenosis of 50%; hypoplasia of the left vertebral artery. On the 7th day, MRI showed a tissue swelling reduction, and from that day, she had no symptoms. These clinical and radiological features were suggestive of PWS. Our patient presented a particular vascular pattern that could favour symptoms fluctuation. We performed a close MRI follow up and it allowed us to observe a clinical stabilization in association with edema reduction.Microalgae-based products have gained growing interest leading to an increase in large-scale cultivation. However, the high energy associated with microalgae harvesting becomes one of the bottlenecks. This study evaluated an energy-efficient microalga harvesting via ultra-low-pressure membrane (ULPM) filtration ( less then 20 kPa) in combination with aeration. ULPM offered various benefits especially in terms of reducing the energy consumption due to it operated under low transmembrane pressure (TMP). High TMP often associated with high pumping energy hence would increase the amount of energy consumed. In addition, membrane with high TMP would severely affect by membrane compaction. Results showed that membrane compaction leads to up to 66 % clean water permeability loss when increasing the TMP from 2.5 to 19 kPa. The Chlorella vulgaris broth permeabilities decreased from 1660 and 1250 to 296 and 251 L/m2hrbar for corresponding TMPs for system with and without aeration, respectively. However, it was found that membrane fouling was more vulnerable at low TMP due to poor foulant scouring from a low crossflow velocity in which up to 56 % of permeability losses were observed. Membrane fouling is the biggest drawback of membrane system as it would reduce the membrane performance. In this study, aeration was introduced as membrane fouling control to scour-off the foulant from membrane surface and pores. In terms of energy consumption, it was observed that the specific energy consumption for the ULPM were very low of up to 4.4 × 10-3 kWh/m3. Overall, combination of low TMP with aeration offers lowest energy input.
The study's main aim is to compare and correlate the levels of various hematological indices in type 2 DM patients with the gender, age, duration, and family history of diabetic conditions to predict diabetes-related complications.

The diabetic population is divided into 2, group 1- subjects with complications and group 2- subjects without complications. Hematological indices are measured using an automated analyzer.

Females from group 1 show a significantly higher value for PLC (3.72 ± 4.79/<0.05) and positively correlate with the diabetic duration. Females with >40 years of age from group 2 show a significantly higher value for platelet larger cell ratio (P-LCR/%) (40.17 ± 3.25 (>40)/<0.05) than those with <40 age and positively correlated with the age. Males with >40 years of age from group 1 show a significantly higher value for plateletcrit (PCT/%) (0.297 ± 0.067 (>40)/<0.05) than those from <40 age and positively correlated with the age. All the male subjects show significant higher values for hemoglobin concentration (HB/g/dl) (13.49 ± 2.22)/<0.05 for group 1) (13.61 ± 2.02)/<0.05 for group 2) and hematocrit (HCT/L/L) (37.30 ± 7.55/<0.05 for group 1) (38.64 ± 5.42/<0.05 for group 2).

Correlating the hematological indices with the gender, age, and duration of diabetic condition will help determine future complications and the severity of the diabetic condition in type 2 DM patients.
