It is a challenging task due to limited anomaly data, sample imbalance, and local differences between the normal and abnormal patterns. Abnormal manifestations in medical images have a definite clinical definition and descriptions, which can be introduced to improve the accuracy of detection rate. In this paper, we propose an anomaly detection method via image transformation surrogate tasks and apply it to detect the absence of bone wall in jugular bulb of temporal bone CT images. First, we design a pair of contrastive surrogate tasks, including an abnormal region completion and a normal background erasure, to decouple the similarity of the normal and abnormal examples. Then, image synthesis strategies for the surrogate tasks are designed, which alleviates the problem of limited abnormal data. Further, an abnormal scoring module is proposed, which includes MSE, SSIM, and local error intensity, to fuse the results of the surrogate tasks. We verify the effectiveness of our proposed method on the jugular bulb data set and experimental results show that the accuracy of our method is 0.995 and the AUC (Area Under the Curve) is 0.994.Visual navigation and three-dimensional (3D) scene reconstruction are essential for robotics to interact with the surrounding environment. Large-scale scenarios and computational robustness are great challenges facing the research community to achieve this goal. This paper raised a pose-only imaging geometry representation and algorithms that might help solve these challenges. The pose-only representation, equivalent to the classical multiple-view geometry, is discovered to be linearly related to camera global translations, which allows for efficient and robust camera motion estimation. As a result, the spatial feature coordinates can be analytically reconstructed and do not require nonlinear optimization. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the computational efficiency of recovering the scene and associated camera poses is significantly improved by 2-4 orders of magnitude.Identifying and quantifying the activities that compose surgery is essential for effective interventions, computer-aided analyses and the advancement of surgical data science. For example, recent studies have shown that objective metrics (referred to as objective performance indicators, OPIs) computed during key surgical tasks correlate with surgeon skill and clinical outcomes. Unambiguous identification of these surgical tasks can be particularly challenging for both human annotators and algorithms. Each surgical procedure has multiple approaches, each surgeon has their own level of skill, and the initiation and termination of surgical tasks can be subject to interpretation. As such, human annotators and machine learning models face the same basic problem, accurately identifying the boundaries of surgical tasks despite variable and unstructured information. For use in surgeon feedback, OPIs should also be robust to the variability and diversity in this data. To mitigate this difficulty, we propose a probabilistic approach to surgical task identification and calculation of OPIs. Rather than relying on tasks that are identified by hard temporal boundaries, we demonstrate an approach that relies on distributions of start and stop times, for a probabilistic interpretation of when the task was performed. We first use hypothetical data to outline how this approach is superior to other conventional approaches. Then we present similar analyses on surgical data. BAY-876 mw We find that when surgical tasks are identified by their individual probabilities, the resulting OPIs are less sensitive to noise in the identification of the start and stop times. These results suggest that this probabilistic approach holds promise for the future of surgical data science.
Relapse in People Living with Schizophrenia (PLS) has several reasons and recognizing these can increase the effectiveness of treatment interventions. Formal and informal caregivers are an informed source to reduce relapse in PLS.
This study explores the caregivers' perspective in Iran on the factors affecting relapse in PLS.
A total of 28 caregivers (16 formal caregivers and 12 informal caregivers) of PLS were enrolled in our qualitative study. A content analysis was conducted using individual and group, semi-structured in-depth interviews with informal and formal caregivers of PLS. This study was conducted in a hospital, three universities, and a non-governmental organization in Tehran, Iran.
The majority (69%) of the participants were females. About half of the informal caregivers were over 60 years old and about 40% of the formal caregivers were in the age range of 30 to 40 years. The average number of years of work for informal caregivers was 17.6 years and the average of work experience among the formal caregivers was 14.1 years. Seven key dual themes were identified from data 'awareness-stigma', 'social support-social exclusion', 'treatment adherence-treatment discontinuation', 'holistic approach - one-dimensional approach', 'supported employment-social dysfunction', 'emotional management in family - family with high emotional expression', and 'access to treatment-treatment gap'.
The results of this research can help practitioners and policymakers to enable evidence-based practices to reduce relapse in PLS by emphasizing and acting on factors identified in our analyses.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of sex in humans and mice, and gonadal hormones in mice on the metabolism of ketamine to form norketamine and HNKs and in the metabolism/elimination of (
)-HNK.
In CD-1 mice, we utilized gonadectomy to evaluate the role of circulating gonadal hormones in mediating sex-dependent differences in ketamine and (
)-HNK metabolism. In humans (34 with treatment-resistant depression and 23 healthy controls) receiving an antidepressant dose of ketamine (0.5 mg/kg i.v. infusion over 40 min), we evaluated plasma levels of ketamine, norketamine, and HNKs.
In humans, plasma levels of ketamine and norketamine were higher in males than females, while (
)-HNK levels were not different. Following ketamine administration to mice (10 mg/kg i.p.), C
and total plasma concentrations of ketamine and norketamine were higher, and those of (
)-HNK were lower, in intact males compared to females. Direct (
)-HNK administration (10 mg/kg i.p.) resulted in higher levels of (
)-HNK in female mice. Ovariectomy did not alter ketamine metabolism in female mice, whereas orchidectomy recapitulated female pharmacokinetic differences in male mice, which was reversed with testosterone replacement.

To (i) discuss why assessment and monitoring of disease progression is critical in Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM); (ii) outline the important features of an ideal assessment tool and (iii) discuss current and novel strategies for detecting subtle deterioration in DCM.
Literature review.
Degenerative cervical myelopathy is an overarching term used to describe progressive injury to the cervical spinal cord by age-related changes of the spinal axis. Based on a study by Smith et al (2020), the prevalence of DCM is approximately 2.3% and is expected to rise as the global population ages. Given the global impact of this disease, it is essential to address important knowledge gaps and prioritize areas for future investigation. As part of the AO Spine RECODE-DCM (Research Objectives and Common Data Elements for Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy) project, a priority setting partnership was initiated to increase research efficiency by identifying the top ten research priorities for DCM. One of the top ten priorities for future DCM research was What assessment tools can be used to evaluate functional impairment, disability and quality of life in people with DCM? What instruments, tools or methods can be used or developed to monitor people with DCM for disease progression or improvement either before or after surgical treatment?
With the increasing prevalence of DCM, effective surveillance of this population will require both the implementation of a monitoring framework as well as the development of new assessment tools.

Recovery in mental illness is not synonymous with cure. Personal recovery approach consider recovery as a process and not as an outcome. This approach takes into account the subjective meaning of recovery by assessing how a person has learned to accommodate and live with an illness.
To study the personal meaning of recovery among persons with schizophrenia.
This article presents the findings of a qualitative study about what 'recovery' means to persons with schizophrenia. A semi structured interview schedule was prepared based on literature review and expert opinion. Twenty participants who met the inclusion criteria and personally consider themselves recovering/recovered from schizophrenia were selected for the in-depth qualitative interviews. Data was analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Meaning of recovery from each participant's perspective was recorded.
The results indicate factors that patients deem important for their recovery are, absence of symptoms, regaining functioning, being able to work, having adequate emotional stability and not being on medicines. The findings are examined in the background of the previous studies and suggestions for clinical practice and research is also discussed.
Recovery is far more than remission of symptoms. Persons with mental illness has their own criteria of recovery, which could be very distinct from the clinical definition. Current study findings can help in identifying meaning of recovery through the perspectives of persons with mental illness and in developing and implementing recovery-oriented services.
