In tropical China, the rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) plantations are predominantly practiced on forest-cleared lands, considering their sustainable land management potential compared to annual cropping. However, all rubber plantations may not have similar land management capacity. Soil quality index (SQI) can reveal the overall soil status with a single score, which is an efficient tool to evaluate the soil quality of each category of rubber plantations. We investigated 23 soil physical and chemical parameters of three categories of rubber plantations and a primary rainforest, and derived SQI based on these parameters. Soil samples were collected from a rubber monoculture (RM), a rubber-Camellia sinensis agroforestry (RT), a rubber-Dracaena cochinchinensis agroforestry (RD), and a primary rainforest (RF). The results showed that the SQI value of the RM decreased by 15.50% compared to the RF, with a significant degree of soil nutrient loss (18.90%). This indicates that monocultural rubber cultivation is causing land degradation to some extent. However, the SQI was significantly enhanced by rubber-based agroforestry practices (25.30% by RT and 33.10% by RD) compared to the RM, suggesting that polyculture practices are suitable to recover the soil quality in degraded agricultural lands. Moreover, the chemical parameters contributed more to the SQI than did the physical parameters, indicating that nutrient management is important in soil quality recovery. Overall, our results suggest that agroforestry should be preferred over monoculture in the rubber plantations for sustainable land management in tropical China.The visible-light induced heterogeneous photo-Fenton-like (HPF-like) process is regarded as a promising technique for organic pollutants degradation due to its efficient utilization of solar energy and high H2O2 activation activity. This study prepared the CuFeO2/biochar catalysts via hydrothermal technique at no extra reductant and systematically investigated their band structure and photoelectric properties. The dispersed distribution of CuFeO2 particles in CuFeO2/biochar composites narrowed bandgap of CuFeO2 and promoted electron transport of CuFeO2. Compared with CuFeO2, the CuFeO2/biochar containing 1.0 g biochar in the preparation (CuFeO2/biochar-1.0) possessed higher carrier density and longer photoelectron lifetime, which is beneficial to higher catalytic performance. The apparent rate constant for tetracycline as target pollutant degradation by CuFeO2/biochar-1.0 was 2.0 times higher than that by CuFeO2. The acquired optimum conditions for tetracycline degradation were 220 mg L-1 CuFeO2/BC-1.0, 22 mM H2O2 and pH 6.4 using response surface methodology. The quenching experiments and ESR analysis revealed that OH was the predominant active species, and photoelectron and O2- were auxiliary species. The photoelectron could promote in-situ recycling of Cu2+ to Cu+ and Fe3+ to Fe2+, which significantly improved H2O2 activation by CuFeO2. The possible pathway of tetracycline was proposed according to intermediates identified by HPLC/MS. The toxicity analysis demonstrated that the overall toxicity of the identified intermediates was reduced in HPF-like system.
This study evaluated the impact of TMD severity on sleep quality and established the associations between TMD diagnostic groups/pain subtypes and sleep impairments.

A total of 1151 patients from a tertiary Dental Hospital were screened for eligibility. Consenting subjects who met the inclusion criteria were directed to complete a general/health questionnaire, the Fonseca Anamnestic Index (FAI), Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD) Symptom Questionnaire, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) at their intake visit. Patients who screened positive for TMDs with the FAI were subjected to a protocolized physical examination and TMD diagnostic groups/subtypes were subsequently derived based on the DC/TMD "diagnostic tree" and algorithms. Statistical analyses were conducted using non-parametric methods and logistic regression (α=0.05).

The final sample consisted of 845 subjects with TMDs and 116 TMD-free controls. The mean age of the TMD and TMD-free subjects were 33.17±13.55 and 31.66±9.50 years. Subjects with severe and moderate TMDs had significantly greater global PSQI scores than those with mild and no TMDs (p<0.001). Those with pain-related, intra-articular, and combined TMDs reported significantly poorer sleep quality than those with no TMDs (p<0.001). Moreover, subjects with myalgia and myalgia plus arthralgia presented significantly greater sleep impairments than their counterparts with intra-articular disorders (p<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression indicated that pain-related (OR=3.23; CI=1.69-6.14) and intra-articular TMDs (OR=1.91; CI=1.15-3.16) were most related to poor sleep.

A representative sample of 5220 participants aged ≥18 years old took part in the study. The global PSQI score was 8.17 points (SD 4.43). Findings show that the quality of sleep was worse among women (p<0.001), single participants (p 0.02), those working in rotating shifts (p<0.001), on-site workers (p<0.001), and people diagnosed with COVID-19 or who hauality.
This study sought to validate the Japanese version of the Sleep Hygiene Practices Scale (SHPS-J).

A cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted via the internet. In total, 854 participants (435 men, 419 women; mean age, 42.91±11.54 years) were asked to complete all scales, and 283 of them were asked to complete the same scales two weeks later. The survey consisted of the SHPS-J, the Japanese version of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI-J), and the Japanese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-J). The SHPS-J was developed according to the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research Task Force for Translation and Cultural Adaption. For the analysis, participants were divided into three groups insomnia syndrome, insomnia symptoms, and good sleep groups.

The SHPS-J had good test-retest reliability (ICC 0.55-0.76) and adequate internal consistency (α=0.54-0.74), except with regard to eating/drinking behaviors. Prior work indicates that both long and short sleep duration predicts mortality, with optimal sleep duration (lowest risk) at 7 h. However, we believe this may differ between subgroups. This may be the case with, for example, age groups (due to aging), or blue-collar and white-collar worker (due to work exposure). It is also likely that retirement, which permits extension of the time in bed, may confound analyses. The purpose of the present study was to investigate how occupational group (blue-collar/white-collar worker) and age influence the pattern of association between sleep duration and mortality in retired individuals. Retired individuals were selected since it was hypothesized that effects of occupation may accumulate over years and since the transition into retirement may be a confounder. We used a sample of 14 000 individuals from the Swedish Twin Registry, which had provided data on sleep duration and a number of covariates. Cox proportional hazards analysis was applied to data. The results show that occupational group did not influence the association, but showed significant hazard ratios (HR) for long (≥9.5 h) and short ( 1.35), with optimal sleep duration (lowest HR) with a wide span (6.5-9.5 h). Age groups in tertiles also showed significant U-shapes, with a wide span (6.5-9.5 h) for the younger 2/3 (54-74 years), but a weaker pattern for the oldest third (≥75 years), for which optimal sleep fell in the 6.5-7.5 h interval. It was concluded that occupational group does not influence the association between sleep duration and mortality in retired individuals, but that age does.
School-based sleep education programs help to promote sleep health information to many children and adolescents. The aim of this systematic review was to identify and describe school-based sleep education programs, to update previous reviews and identify recent advances and improvements in this field worldwide.

Four electronic databases were searched. Eligibility criteria included children aged 5-18 years, sleep education intervention conducted in a school setting, and at least one pre-post-measure of a sleep variable.

A total of 32 articles met eligibility criteria with Australian sleep researchers constituting∼one quarter of these studies. Studies dated from 2007 to 2020 with sample sizes ranging from 9 to 3713 students. The majority of participants were high school students and predominantly female. Education programs generally took 4-6 weeks and content was consistent across studies. Overall, exposure to sleep education increased sleep knowledge, however changes in sleep behaviour variables and secondary outcome variables (eg, mental health; cognitive function; sleep hygiene practices) presented varied results.
