An accurate numerical model of the Cl- transport in concrete is required to predict the corrosion initiation in RC structures. However, existing numerical models lack a representation of the heterogenous concrete microstructure resulting from the varying environmental conditions and the indirect effect of time dependent temperature and relative humidity (RH) on the water adsorption and Cl- binding isotherms. In this study, a numerical model is developed to study the coupled transport of Cl- with heat, RH and oxygen (O2) into the concrete. The modeling of the concrete microstructure is performed using the Virtual Cemenons warm and humid weather in Galveston, Texas, and cold and dry weather in North Minnesota, Minnesota, subjected to time varying temperature, RH, and surface Cl- concentrations.For social robots, knowledge regarding human emotional states is an essential part of adapting their behavior or associating emotions to other entities. Robots gather the information from which emotion detection is processed via different media, such as text, speech, images, or videos. The multimedia content is then properly processed to recognize emotions/sentiments, for example, by analyzing faces and postures in images/videos based on machine learning techniques or by converting speech into text to perform emotion detection with natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Keeping this information in semantic repositories offers a wide range of possibilities for implementing smart applications. In the context of food security, the Chinese government has introduced policies for farmland abandonment supervision, but the effect of these policies has proven to be marginal. By constructing an evolutionary game model, our research explores the evolutionary logic during the supervision of farmland abandonment by governments and rural households. The results indicate that low food yield and high opportunity costs are the leading causes of farmland abandonment. The probable punishment administered by the central government for dereliction is a major motivation for the local government to practice farmland abandonment supervision. The low supervision avoidance cost for rural households leads local governments and households to form collaborations to jointly cope with central government supervision. When this occurs, local governments' supervision of farmland abandonment falls into a trap, as it leads to continued supervision practices that are costly and ineffective. Food security risk comes from the contradictory population and land resources demands. To improve food security while managing these contradictory demands, it is both necessary and feasible for the government to control population growth and focus on farmland protection, whereas it is unnecessary and unfeasible for the government to supervise whether or not farmland should be abandoned.Supramolecular hydrogels formed by self-assembly of low-molecular-weight amphiphiles (hydrogelators) have attracted significant attention, as smart and soft materials. In this study, we present bola-amphiphilic glycosylated lipopeptide-type supramolecular hydrogelators that exhibit reversible thermochromism along with a gel-sol transition. The bola-amphiphiles have mono-, di-, tri- or tetra-phenylalanine (F) as a short peptide moiety. We investigate and discuss the effects of the number of F residues on the gelation ability and the morphology of the self-assembled nanostructures.Under mixed sparse line-of-sight/non-line-of-sight (LOS/NLOS) conditions, how to quickly achieve high positioning accuracy is still a challenging task and a critical problem in the last dozen years. To settle this problem, we propose a constrained L1 norm minimization method which can reduce the effects of NLOS bias for improve positioning accuracy and speed up calculation via an iterative method. We can transform the TOA-based positioning problem into a sparse optimization one under mixed sparse LOS/NLOS conditions if we consider NLOS bias as outliers. Thus, a relatively good method to deal with sparse localization problem is L1 norm. Compared with some existing methods, the proposed method not only has the advantages of simple and intuitive principle, but also can neglect NLOS status and corresponding NLOS errors. Experimental results show that our algorithm performs well in terms of computational time and positioning accuracy.
We aimed to assess the effects of safinamide on depression, motor symptoms, and the serotonin syndrome related to its co-administration with antidepressants in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD).

We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients at 1 and 3 months of follow-up compared to baseline.

= 82 (safinamide 50 mg = 22, 100 mg = 60, with antidepressants = 44). First, we found improvement in depression (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale -6 ± 5.10 at 1 month and -7.27 ± 5.10 at 3 months,

< 0.0001). Third, 7.31% and 8.53% of patients developed non-severe adverse events related to safinamide at 1 and 3 months. Serotonin syndrome was not observed in the patients treated with antidepressants; some isolated serotonin syndrome symptoms were reported.

In this study, volatiles from peanut plants were analyzed using both gas chromatographic-electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) techniques, and tested for adult attraction with field trapping bioassays in Hebei Province, China. GC-EAD analyses indicated that H. parallela antennae strongly responded to twelve GC peaks, including eight identified compounds, (Z)-β-ocimene, hexanal, 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, nonanal, dihydromyrcenol, linalool, β-caryophyllene, methyl salicylate, and four unidentified compounds. When tested individually in field conditions from 24 to 31 July, 2020, β-caryophyllene and hexanal significantly attracted both sexes of H. parallela, whereas all other compounds were unattractive. A blend of β-caryophyllene and hexanal at a ratio of 21, close to the natural ratio of these two compounds from the intact peanut plant, was most attractive to the beetles. The remaining identified compounds, (Z)-β-ocimene, 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, nonanal, dihydromyrcenol, linalool, and methyl salicylate had no synergistic effects on H. parallela attraction when tested in combination with the blend of β-caryophyllene and hexanal. These results demonstrated that β-caryophyllene and hexanal in the volatiles from peanut plants have strong attraction to H. parallela. These two compounds have the potential to be used for monitoring H. parallela and its management programs.Aggregates of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides are known to be related to Alzheimer's disease. Their aggregation is enhanced at hydrophilic-hydrophobic interfaces, such as a cell membrane surface and air-water interface, and is inhibited by polyphenols, such as myricetin and rosmarinic acid. We review molecular dynamics (MD) simulation approaches of a full-length Aβ peptide, Aβ40, and Aβ(16-22) fragments in these environments. Since these peptides have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic amino acid residues, they tend to exist at the interfaces. The high concentration of the peptides accelerates the aggregation there. In addition, Aβ40 forms a β-hairpin structure, and this structure accelerates the aggregation. We also describe the inhibition mechanism of the Aβ(16-22) aggregation by polyphenols. The aggregation of Aβ(16-22) fragments is caused mainly by the electrostatic attraction between charged amino acid residues known as Lys16 and Glu22.
