We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, an interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on choosing the right model. They considered the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency, among other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that GE's Profile series is targeted at those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. The refrigerator is brimming with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is an extra amount, I'd like to see better.

Apart from that minor flaw however, this refrigerator is a fantastic choice. It features a large freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

The fridge is equipped with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a French-door refrigerator at this price. It also has a decent-sized icemaker in the left door, but it's not the largest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelving in both compartments to create a custom storage setup for whatever you have to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is attractive, too. Its LED lighting is a nice feature and the storage bins have the third shelf, which folds down to allow you to store tall items. The drawers have temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has many options for customizing. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at a time. It does have an indicator on the fridge display to display how much water you have left, but it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Created to appear like a seamless part of your kitchen Bosch's French-door refrigerator looks seamless and is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment to keep fruits and vegetables fresher longer and has dual compressors to ensure maximum food preservation. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested, and it produces a pyramid-shaped form of ice that is low in water consumption. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette that wants an elegant design and top of the best food preservation.

This refrigerator was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at just a few degrees Fahrenheit and never fluctuating by more than a fraction a degree--this is key to avoiding freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within a matter of hours, and remained at the temperature throughout our tests.

Bosch is a household name known for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that Bosch counter depth refrigerator is one of them. Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is costly and has great features and functionality at a reasonable price.

While the fridge is an amazing piece of equipment, it's important to know the limitations. It is possible to be inventive with tall items since the fridge has a small shelf space. Additionally, the shelves are not impervious to sprills and could be stained or damaged by sharp objects. It's easy to remove the trays in the fridge however, you must clean them frequently to prevent mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who require lots of space within an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has a standard French door design, and two rows of shelves that can be used to capture spills and a set of crisper drawers. The upper right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more space. There's also a full-width storage drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.


This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker, making it easy to transfer the frozen ice as needed. The freezer also comes with thoughtful design features, such as sliding drawers that help you organize your items. www.frydge.uk has a large container to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a simple way to keep track of your refrigerator and control it, especially when not at home.

Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator than some of the others we tried. This could be due to its greater capacity.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. The sunken handles allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a fridge with a French door with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the top counter depth refrigerator that comes with an ice maker, making it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't break the bank this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a basic fridge that might not be as attractive like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a good option. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer allows you to use a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power into this area, so that you can keep food items that require special attention. You can alter this feature using an adjustable slider that is located just on the outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings work better than the specific ones.

During my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray significantly from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a great performance, but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
