Why You'll Definitely Want To Read More About Kids Beds Bunk
bunk bed for kids add drama to kids' rooms and also give them an excitement. Ms. Keenan adds a shelf to hold books, or a reading light in every sleeping nook to make bunk beds more attractive to children.

Many of our bunk beds for kids can be made into two twin beds. This is a great option if your plan is to move them into their own bedroom at some point. Pick from finishes like brushed gray, cream white, and rich walnut.

Stairs or ladders

When choosing kids beds bunk, you have the option to choose between ladders or stairs. Ladders can be easily installed and are cheaper. They also provide an easy way to get into the top bunk bed. They are also considered safer than staircases, because they have a larger area for children to step on and a handrail built-in. There are grooves on the steps to prevent slips when climbing up and down the bed.

If you like the design and style of stairs, they may be a more elegant addition to your bunk bed. They can also be used in rooms with limited space since they do not protrude like ladders. They are typically made of wood or metal and can complement various styles of bedrooms. Some staircases have integrated storage drawers which can be a great way to increase the space of bunk beds.

Another factor to consider when deciding between stairs and a ladder is the age of your child. It is recommended that children less than six years old do not sleep on the top bunk. Children older than 6 years old who are able to climb vertically could prefer stairs than a ladder. Also should you be planning on using your bunk bed as a guest bed for younger children or adults with limited mobility stairs are the most suitable option.

A straight staircase on the side of the bunk requires a minimum of 95" of space on each side. If you don't have that much space, you can opt for a u-shaped staircase which doesn't require as much space, but provides a safe and secure means of accessing the top bunk. Certain beds let you remove the stairs when they are not being used. This reduces the size of the bed and makes it more versatile for multipurpose spaces. There are stairs that connect to the bottom of the bed. This eliminates the need for separate handrails, and makes it easier to climb up and down to the bottom for children.

Guard Rails

Guard rails let children climb in and out of their beds on their own and provide them with the feeling of independence and security. They must be positioned correctly to ensure that there are no gaps or loosening between the guardrails and the frame of the bed. If you decide to use guard rails, be sure to follow the instructions of the manufacturer and inspect them regularly for any holes or looseness that could lead to an entrapment.

Keep bunk beds away from electrical appliances and other objects that can become projectiles while your children are playing or sleeping. Be sure to place bunks away from windows, as they could be a danger to fall when children climb up to the top floor.

One safety feature you might think about is a night light for the ladder. this can help to illuminate the ladder's path up and down in the event that children awake at night and need to go to the bathroom or are woken during a storm, and need to make their way out of their rooms in a safe manner.

A safety net could be placed on top of the bunk to stop children from falling out while they're sleeping or playing. This is especially a good idea for older kids, who are more likely to sleep in the top bunk.

The guardrails must be secured to the bunk beds. They cannot be removed without tools. The openings in the guardrail above the mattress foundation should not be more than 3.5 inches wide to prevent entrapment or strangulation. To test this, place the wedge block shown in Figure 1 into each of the openings on the lower edge of the highest member of the guardrail and above the underside of the mattress foundation. Apply a force of 33 lbf (147 N) in a direction perpendicular the plane of the large edge of the block for a minute.

It's a good idea to tell your children not to hang any objects on the guardrail or ladder for example, clothing, belts, and sports equipment. Instead you should make use of an organized rack to keep these items from becoming a strangulation hazard for your child. Also, ensure that more than one kid should not sleep on the top floor of the bunk, as this could create an unsafe imbalance that could cause falling.

Mattresses

When choosing a mattress to use for bunk beds, take into account the size of your child and their age. A bunk mattress should last at the least eight years or until siblings are no longer sharing the same bedroom. You should select one that will grow with your child, but still provide enough comfort as they grow older.

There are a myriad of options for bunk mattress sizes. They are typically full or twin size. If your kiddos suffer from allergies or asthma you should choose an hypoallergenic mattress that has dust mite barriers and a cover that wicks moisture. Mattresses with an antimicrobial coating will shield the foam against harmful bacteria and germs.

The feel of your mattress is important. Kids generally weigh less than adults, so they need an item that is firm but also comfortable. Many latex and hybrid mattresses have one side that is firm and the other soft side to accommodate both children's requirements.

Memory foam mattresses are a good choice for children, but we wouldn't recommend them due to their tendency not to cool well and can be hard on the spines of young children. Think about a hybrid or latex mattress, which provides strong support and cooling infusions for your child or guests to rest comfortably.

A mattress with a low profile is usually the best choice for children's bunk beds. They are designed to be slimmer than standard mattresses and increase the height of the safety rails for the top bunk. They eliminate "filler" material to offer top quality and durability with slim designs.

If your child would like to try a mattress thicker than a regular bed, consider an innerspring or hybrid model with comfort layers above that can be removed or replaced as the child grows. These models will give you an idea of how the mattress will perform as your child grows, and you can always put in an extra mattress pad or bed skirt to keep it from sliding off the frame. Some beds come with a an integrated lip or side rails to stop this from happening.

Storage

Bunk beds are an excellent alternative to save space in shared children's rooms. Bunk beds can also be a cheaper alternative to purchasing two full-sized single beds. A lot of bunks have the option to add a trundle which can be placed under the bunk that is not in use.

Consider installing a kids bedroom furniture set that includes bookcases, desks, and/or dressers to maximize storage space in a bedroom with bunk beds. This will let you keep all of your child's personal belongings including toys, clothing and clothes in one location without having to cram them into overstuffed closets or chests. These bedroom furniture sets are available from a number of retailers and usually comply with all safety standards of the federal government.

Stacking bunks can provide an ideal playground for children as kids can transform the spaces below into secret spaces for play or cozy spaces. Designer Elizabeth Georgantas stacked six bunks to create the ultimate kids' space. It can be used for playing, sleeping or even for twirling superhero capes. The room is decorated with a bubble wallcovering of Chasing Paper, and the ceiling is painted Benjamin Moore Blue Jean.

If you are unable to construct stairs to your bunk that is stacked, a ladder can be an easy solution. The ladders are constructed with a combination of Single Socket Tee Flange, Single Socket Tee and 90 Degree Side Outlet Tee fittings and can be easily adjusted to alter the distance between ladder rungs to make it easier for children to climb. The ladder rungs are also placed flush with the ground, rather than higher to aid in climbing.

The installation of loft beds that can be lifted to just above the ground is another method to maximize the space in a bunk bedroom. This lets you slide desks, dressers, or toy chests underneath the beds that are elevated. This is a true way to maximize space and can be a great option for smaller bedrooms, or in a huge family home where the beds need to be able to accommodate many people sleeping.
