Mastitis is a cow disease usually signalized by irritation, swelling, and soreness of the udder. It is characterized by physical, chemical, and biological changes in the udder and milk. The aim of this study was to detect and characterize pathogens causing subclinical mastitis (SCM) from the milk of dairy cows of small-scale farmers through culture and molecular techniques. Milk was collected from 32 cows belonging to 8 small-scale farmers around Harrismith District, South Africa. The results showed that screening of SCM by California mastitis test and somatic cell counts (SCC) was 21.87 and 25%, respectively. Culture methods revealed the presence of Staphylococcus aureus at 93% followed by Streptococci spp. and Escherichia coli at 36.4 and 13.3%, respectively. The PCR could only detect E. coli, while single-molecule real-time sequencing showed a total of 2 phyla, 5 families, 7 genera, and 131 species. Clostridiaceae was the most abundant family, while Romboutsia was the most abundant genus followed by Turicibacter spp. The present study has documented the occurrence of SCM causing pathogens in milk collected from cows of small-scale farmers in Harrismith, indicating that SCM may be present at higher levels than expected.Wilson's disease (WD) is an inherited disorder of copper metabolism. Multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been reported to provide evidence of the extent and severity of brain lesions. However, there are few studies related to the diagnosis of WD with multimodal MRI. Here, we reported a WD patient who was subjected to Sanger sequencing, conventional MRI, and multimodal MRI examinations, including susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) and arterial spin labeling (ASL). Sanger sequencing demonstrated two pathogenic mutations in exon 8 of the ATP7B gene. Slit-lamp examination revealed the presence of Kayser-Fleischer rings in both eyes, as well as low serum ceruloplasmin and high 24-h urinary copper excretion on admission. Although the substantia nigra, red nucleus, and lenticular nucleus on T1-weighted imaging and T2-weighted imaging were normal, SWI and ASL showed hypointensities in these regions. Besides, decreased cerebral blood flow was found in the lenticular nucleus and the head of caudate nucleus. The patient recovered well after 1 year and 9 months of follow-up, with only a Unified Wilson Disease Rating Scale score of 1 for neurological symptom. Brain multimodal MRI provided a thorough insight into the WD, which might make up for the deficiency of conventional MRI.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are both complications linked with COVID-19. Lower limb point-of-care clinical ultrasound (POCUS) could detect occult clots, helping decide whom to treat with anticoagulation.

To determine proximal DVT prevalence with POCUS screening among hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Lower limb POCUS was performed in all patients admitted either to the ward or intensive care unit (ICU) between April 22nd and 30th 2020. Clinical and laboratory features, prescriptions, thrombotic complications and outcomes were assessed.

87 patients were screened, of which 26 (29.8%) either had been discharged from ICU (19.5%) or were still in critical condition (10.3%). DVT was found in 4 patients (3 femoral, 1 popliteal), of which 1 had not received low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) prophylaxis. 21 CT pulmonary angiograms were performed, being positive for PE in 5 cases (23.8%); only 2 of these patients suffered DVT.

The outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia 2019 (COVID-19) has caused millions of deaths worldwide. It is well documented that troponin predicts the prognosis of patients. Myoglobin is not only an important marker of myocardial injury, but it indicates systemic muscle damage. However, its relationship with COVID-19 was rarely reported. The present study compared the predictive value of troponin and myoglobin on the final prognosis of COVID-19 patients by analyzing the clinical characteristics and serum levels of myoglobin and troponin in severe/critical COVID-19 patients.

We enrolled 499 consecutive eligible hospitalized patients with severe/critical COVID-19 from February 14 to March 24, 2020 at Leishenshan Hospital, Wuhan, China. Cinnamaldehyde (CA) elicits itch sensation in humans. We investigated if CA elicits scratching behavior in mice and determined the roles for TRPV1, TRPA1, and TRPV4.

Scratching behavior elicited by intradermal injection of CA was assessed in wildtype (WT) mice and knockout (KO) mice lacking TRPV1, TRPA1, TRPV4, or deficient in mast cells. We also assessed scratching and wet dog shakes elicited by low-threshold mechanical stimulation of skin treated topically with CA or vehicle. Using calcium imaging we tested if CA activates dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons of each genotype.

Intradermal cheek injection of CA elicited dose-dependent hindlimb scratch bouts, with fewer forelimb wipes and facial groom bouts that were not dose-dependent. CA elicited significantly fewer scratch bouts in TRPV1 and TRPV4 KO mice, but not TRPA1KOs, compared with WTs. There were no sex differences across genotypes. The histamine H1 antagonist cetirizine did not affect CA-evoked scratching, which was normal in mast cell deficiench depends partly on TRPV1 and TRPV4.
Expansion of reproductive health services and addressing its different aspects in national and international levels is an important step towards ensuring family and public health. Female sex workers are a vulnerable population that are exposed to high risk sexual behaviors and increased incidence of co-morbid health problems. This study aims to identify the concerns of women with high risk sexual behaviors. Clarifying different aspects of reproductive health and its problems in female sex workers can assist relevant authorities to plan and intervene on reproductive health and to provide more effective solutions on this issue.

A qualitative study was conducted using a conventional content analysis approach. Snowball sampling was performed in 20 volunteer women with high risk sexual behaviors through in-depth semi-structured interviews conducted in drop-in centers, triangle centers, etc. The data were analyzed through conventional content analysis using the MAXQDA software.

In this paper, we proposed a novel framework, topic2features (T2F), to deal with short and sparse data using the topic distributions of hidden topics gathered from dataset and converting into feature vectors to build supervised classifier. For this we leveraged the unsupervised topic modelling LDA (latent dirichlet allocation) approach to retrieve the topic distributions employed in supervised learning algorithms. We made use of labelled data and topic distributions of hidden topics that were generated from that data. The problem and quality of human-robot interaction (HRI) has become a widely debated topic in academia. Especially when HSRs are applied in the hospitality industry, some researchers believe that the current HRI model is not well adapted to the complex social environment. HSRs generally lack the ability to accurately recognize human intentions and understand social scenarios. This study proposes a novel interactive framework suitable for HSRs. The proposed framework is grounded on the novel integration of Trevarthen's (2001) companionship theory and neural image captioning (NIC) generation algorithm. By integrating image-to-natural interactivity generation and communicating with the environment to better interact with the stakeholder, thereby changing from interaction to a bionic-companionship. Compared to previous research a novel interactive system is developed based on the bionic-companionship framework. The humanoid service robot was integrated with the system to conduct preliminary tests. The results show that the interactive system based on the bionic-companionship framework can help the service humanoid robot to effectively respond to changes in the interactive environment, for example give different responses to the same character in different scenes.The Coronavirus pandemic caused by the novel SARS-CoV-2 has significantly impacted human health and the economy, especially in countries struggling with financial resources for medical testing and treatment, such as Brazil's case, the third most affected country by the pandemic. In this scenario, machine learning techniques have been heavily employed to analyze different types of medical data, and aid decision making, offering a low-cost alternative. Due to the urgency to fight the pandemic, a massive amount of works are applying machine learning approaches to clinical data, including complete blood count (CBC) tests, which are among the most widely available medical tests. In this work, we review the most employed machine learning classifiers for CBC data, together with popular sampling methods to deal with the class imbalance. Additionally, we describe and critically analyze three publicly available Brazilian COVID-19 CBC datasets and evaluate the performance of eight classifiers and five sampling techniques on the selected datasets.
