Increasing evidence suggests that microRNAs intensively participate in HCC development and progression. In the current study, we aimed to explore the impact of miR-124-3p in the proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of HCC. The RT-qPCR assay was employed to determine miR-124-3p expression in human HCC specimens and cell lines. Luciferase assay was used to validate the miR-124-3p target gene. Western Blot and RT-qPCR were performed to study the effects of miR-124-3p modulation on ARRDC1 (Arrestin Domain Containing 1) mRNA and protein expressions. MTT assay, wound healing assay, EdU assay, and Transwell assay were utilized to verify the impact of miR-144-3p modulation on HCC proliferation and EMT via ARRDC1. We found that MiR-124-3p expression downregulates in HCC. Overexpression of miR-124-3p reduced the HCC cell proliferation and EMT. Meanwhile, we determined that the expression of ARRDC1 is increased in HCC, and miR-124-3p directly binds the 3'UTR of ARRDC1 and inhibits its expression at mRNA and protein level, suggesting that miR-124-3p was capable of negatively modulating ARRDC1. Besides, cotransfection of ARRDC1-overexpression plasmid and miR-124-3p mimics increased the cell proliferation and EMT as compared to miR-124-3p mimics. Our study concluded that miR-124-3p directly binds the 3'UTR of ARRDC1 and exerts anti-tumorous effects by inhibiting the HCC proliferation and EMT. Therefore, miR-124-3p/ARRDC1 axis may serve as a novel therapeutic target to inhibit HCC growth and metastasis.The administration of probiotics may help to improve dysbiosis and related health problems in children delivered by caesarean section. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and tolerance of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei N1115 in caesarean-born children aged 6-24 months via a randomised, placebo-controlled intervention study. In total, 101 children were included and randomised to receive either a sachet of L. paracasei N1115 (2×1010 cfu/g, 2 g/day) or placebo (maltodextrin, 2 g/day) per day for 12 weeks. Anthropometric parameters were measured by trained nurses, and defecation characteristics, gastrointestinal symptoms, (serious) adverse events ((s)AEs), crying patterns and lifestyle behaviours were recorded by parents or guardians. To investigate the kick performance under different support foot positions, ten male footballers were recruited to participate in two experiments one determining the maximum ball speed and the second determining accuracy. The participants were instructed to plant their support foot on one of nine different spots marked in the form of a 3 × 3 shape on a piece of artificial grass and asked to kick the ball. In the first (maximum speed) test, the participants tried their best to kick the ball at the maximum ball speed from nine different support foot positions. In the second (accuracy) test, the participants kicked the ball toward the target area without restricting the support foot position. The ball speed, as well as the success rate, were recorded from each support foot position. Significantly higher ball speed and accuracy were obtained at medial positions than was the case at lateral positions from the nine spots. It was concluded that although footballers may choose different positions for support foot placement, the maximum ball speed and better accuracy could be expected when the support foot was next to or slightly in front of the ball centre without too much side-by-side separation (27-37 cm).Accumulating evidence indicates that abnormally expressed microRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) contribute to cancer progression. Nonetheless, the role of miR-30e-5p in pancreatic cancer (PCa) remains unclear. In this study, using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis, we found that miR-30e-5p expression was downregulated in human PCa tissues compared with that in normal para-cancerous tissues. After transfecting with miR-30e-5p inhibitors, miR-30e-5p mimics, or empty vectors in the BxPC-3 and PANC-1 cells, respectively, the experiments revealed that the upregulation of miR-30e-5p expression inhibited cell growth, invasion, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and promoted apoptosis, while miR-30e-5p downregulation had the opposite effects. RNA sequencing of miR-30e-5p inhibitor-, miR-30e-5p mimic-, and the negative control (NC)-treated groups revealed that miR-30e-5p may affect epithelial cell differentiation, cell growth and death. Next, the snail family transcriptional repressor 1 (SNAI1) was predicted and verified as the target gene of miR-30e-5p using bioinformatics analysis and luciferase assays. SNAI1 expression levels were decreased in the PCa cells transfected with miR-30e-5p mimics, whereas the opposite was observed in the cells transfected with miR-30e-5p inhibitors. Subsequently, PCa cells were transfected with a vector overexpressing SNAI1 (OE-SNAI1) and miR-30e-5p mimics, miR-30e-5p inhibitors, or empty vectors. Compared with that in the OE-SNAI1 + miR-30e-5p NC group, transfection with OE-SNAI1 + miR-30e-5p mimics inhibited the PCa cell growth, migration, and increased apoptosis, whereas transfection with OE-SNAI1 + miR-30e-5p inhibitors had the opposite effects. In conclusion, miR-30e-5p potentially inhibits PCa cell proliferation, migration, and invasion via the SNAI1/EMT axis.Lipodystrophy is a major disturbance in people living with HIV-1 (PLWH). Several systemic alterations in PLWH are reminiscent of those that occur in ageing. It is unknown whether the lipodystrophy in PLWH is the consequence of accelerated ageing in adipose tissue. We compared systemic and adipose tissue disturbances in PLWH with those in healthy elderly individuals (~80 y old). We observed similarly enhanced expression of inflammation-related genes and decreased autophagy in adipose tissues from elderly individuals and PLWH. Indications of repressed adipogenesis and mitochondrial dysfunction were found specifically in PLWH, whereas reduced telomere length and signs of senesce were specific to elderly individuals. We conclude that ageing of adipose tissue accounts only partially for the alterations in adipose tissues of PLWH.
Chorioretinal coloboma is a congenital anomaly which can be present in a clinical spectrum with a possibility of significant influence on visual acuity. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has been frequently used for the study of chorioretinal coloboma. OCT angiography (OCTA), as a non-invasive method of taking high-resolution images of chorioretinal vessels, can improve our understanding of developmental aspects of this anomaly.
This observational case series evaluated patients with chorioretinal coloboma, who were referred to the eye clinic of a university-based hospital between March 2018 and October 2019. All patients underwent comprehensive ocular examination, OCT, and OCTA using AngioVue technologies from the colobomatous sites.

Attenuation of the micstics in the vicinity of these lesions.Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor in the nasopharyngeal cavity. LncRNA PTPRG-AS1 is essential in NPC radiosensitivity. This study sought to explore the mechanism of PTPRG-AS1 in NPC radiosensitivity by regulating the miR-124-3p/LHX2 axis. First, NPC-related microarray was analyzed to screen differentially expressed lncRNAs. PTPRG-AS1 and miR-124-3p expression patterns in NPC tissues and adjacent tissues of NPC patients and NPC cell lines were detected by RT-qPCR. PTPRG-AS1 was knocked down in CNE2 and 5-8 F cells by transfection. The radiosensitivity, proliferation and apoptosis before and after radiotherapy (0/6 Gy) were detected by cloning formation assay, CCK-8 assay, and flow cytometry. Bioinformatics, Pearson correlation analysis, RNA pull-down, and luciferase reporter assays were performed to explore the regulatory relationship of the lncRNA PTPRG-AS1/miR-124-3/LHX2 axis. The corresponding functions were verified in the complementation test. The levels of LHX2 and Notch pathway-related proteins were detected by Western blot. PTPRG-AS1 was upregulated in NPC cell lines and tissues. PTPRG-AS1 knockdown decreased NPC cell proliferation and promoted radiotherapy-induced apoptosis and cell radiosensitivity. PTPRG-AS1 upregulated LHX2 as a ceRNA of miR-124-3p. miR-124-3p inhibition partially reversed PTPRG-AS1 silencing-induced NPC cell radiosensitivity. miR-124-3p targeted LHX2. LHX2 overexpression attenuated the miR-124-3p overexpression-induced NPC cell radiosensitivity. LHX2 attenuated NPC cell radiosensitivity by activating the Notch pathway. Briefly, lncRNA PTPRG-AS1 reduced NPC cell radiosensitivity by regulating the miR-124-3p/LHX2 axis through the ceRNA mechanism.The COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on the environment. This study emphasised a systematic review and content analysis to categorise all types of waste management (WM) during the COVID-19 pandemic to accomplish a well understanding of the relation between the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on WM within the literature. In this systematic review, a number of published papers on different aspects of WM during March 2020 to February 2021 were considered in order to identify major challenges in handling WM during the pandemic time and highlight multi-strategic approaches suggested. A content analysis of the 58 relevant papers was carried out by incorporating different types of WM at local as well as global scales.
