Cannabis use in patients with allergy/asthma, a high-risk group for adverse effects to cannabis, is unknown.

To determine the patterns of use and attitudes toward cannabis in patients with allergy/asthma.

An anonymous online survey on cannabis attitudes and use was conducted through the Adult Allergy & Asthma Network. The Asthma Control Test assessed asthma burden. Cluster analyses determined group phenotypes and factor analyses condensed cannabis subjective effects into similar response patterns.

A total of 88 of 489 respondents (18.0%) currently use cannabis with most at the age of less than 50 years old, of female sex, and of White race. Of the noncannabis users (N= 401), 2.5% reported cannabis allergy. Cluster analysis revealed that a liberal attitude toward cannabis was associated with current cannabis use (P < .001). Among current cannabis users, 40.9% of their physicians inquired on cannabis use; only 37.5% of users wanted to discuss cannabis. In addition, 65.9% used cannabis for medicalects more frequent than negative effects. Half of cannabis users with uncontrolled asthma smoke cannabis, but only a minority of the physicians inquire about its use.
Hereditary alpha-tryptasemia (HαT) is an autosomal dominant genetic trait characterized by multiple copies of the alpha-tryptase gene at the TPSAB1 locus. Previously described symptomatology involves multiple organ systems and anaphylaxis. The spectrum of mast cell activation symptoms is unknown, as is its association with specific genotypes.

To describe clinical, laboratory, and genetic characteristics of patients referred for the evaluation of mast cell activation-related symptoms and genotype-confirmed HαT.

We retrospectively describe clinical characteristics, baseline tryptase, and tryptase genotype in 101 patients. Patients were referred for mast cell activation-related symptoms and underwent genotyping to confirm diagnosis of HαT.

Of 101 patients, 80% were female with average tryptase of 17.2 ng/mL. Tryptase was less than 11.4 ng/mL in 8.9% and greater than 20 ng/mL in 22.3% (range 6.2-51.3 ng/mL). KIT D816V mutation was negative in all subjects tested. 2α3β was the most common genotype but did nal, neurologic, and psychiatric symptoms and anaphylaxis, some of which respond to omalizumab.Growing evidence suggests that T cells may play a critical role in combating severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Hence, COVID-19 vaccines that can elicit a robust T cell response may be particularly important. The design, development and experimental evaluation of such vaccines is aided by an understanding of the landscape of T cell epitopes of SARS-CoV-2, which is largely unknown. Due to the challenges of identifying epitopes experimentally, many studies have proposed the use of in silico methods. Here, we present a review of the in silico methods that have been used for the prediction of SARS-CoV-2 T cell epitopes. These methods employ a diverse set of technical approaches, often rooted in machine learning. A performance comparison is provided based on the ability to identify a specific set of immunogenic epitopes that have been determined experimentally to be targeted by T cells in convalescent COVID-19 patients, shedding light on the relative performance merits of the different approaches adopted by the in silico studies. The review also puts forward perspectives for future research directions.
This study evaluated the effect of propolis associated with Biosilicate on the bond strength (BS) and gelatinolytic activity at the adhesive/dentin interface.

Occlusal cavities were prepared in 320 human molars. Half of them were submitted to cariogenic challenge. All the teeth were separated into eight groups (n = 20) Control - Adhesive System (Single Bond Universal, 3 MESPE); CHX - 0.12 % Chlorhexidine; Bio - 10 % Biosilicate; P16 - Propolis with low levels of polyphenols; P45 - Propolis with high levels of polyphenols; CHX Bio - CHX + Bio; P16 Bio - P16+Bio; P45 Bio - P45+Bio. The adhesive was applied (self-etch mode) after treatments. Restorations (Filtek Z350, 3 MESPE) were performed and samples sectioned into sticks, separated and stored in distilled water at 37 °C for 24 h, 6 months and 1 year. DPP inhibitor Microtensile BS (0.5 mm/min) was tested and analyzed (2-way ANOVA, Bonferroni's Test, p < .05 and Weibull analysis). To evaluate the association between source of drinking water and dental caries at age 5 and to test whether socioeconomic conditions act as confounding factors in such association.

The study was carried out in a sub-sample of the 2004 Pelotas Birth Cohort, which comprised the application of a questionnaire and clinical oral examination. The exposure was source of drinking water, collected through a question to the primary caregiver. The outcome was dental caries in primary dentition, measured through several standardized indicators of the decayed, missing and filled teeth index (dmft), assessing past and present dental caries. Socioeconomic indicators (family income and maternal education) were identified as potential confounding factors. After descriptive analysis, the association between source of water and measures of dental caries was assessed by Regression models.

1,084 children were evaluated and had complete information in all variables (83.2 % of the targeted sample). Dental caries experience wad tap water is as effective in dental caries prevention as bottled water with acceptable levels of fluoride, with the advantage of being accessible to all. Oral health prevention and treatment should be implemented as early in life as possible and should take into consideration the family's socioeconomic context.
To investigate the survival in terms of time to re-intervention of composite restorations in posterior teeth among patients attending for treatment at a primary care dental outreach setting over an 11-year period and to determine whether dental, patient or operator factors influenced this.

Electronic primary dental care data were collected on individual patients, including information on their dental treatment and socio-demographics as well as service provision, key performance indicators and student activity.

A total of 1086 patients had at least one posterior composite placed between 2007 and 2018. This amounted to 3194 restorations placed of which 308 had a re-intervention within the 11-year period. For all restorations, the annual failure rate at 1 year was 5.73 %, at 5 years was 16.78 % and at 10 years was 18.74 %. A logistic regression showed that when compared to the least deprived 5
quintile, the most deprived 1
and 2
quintiles were significantly less likely to have a re-intervention, being 49.
