SARS-CoV-2 vaccines were not associated with an increased risk of overall thromboembolism (risk ratio [RR], 1.14; 95% CI [confidence interval], 0.61-2.14; I
 = 35%), ATE (RR, 0.97; 95% CI, 0.46-2.06; I
 = 21%), VTE (RR, 1.47; 95% CI, 0.72-2.99; I
 = 0%), hemorrhage (RR, 0.97; 95% CI, 0.35-2.68; I
 = 0), and thromboembolism/hemorrhage-related death (RR, 0.53; 95% CI, 0.16-1.79; I
= 0). Compared to the baseline estimated risk of these outcomes in participants administered placebos, the risk differences with vaccines were very small and not statistically significant. These findings were consistent in the subgroup analysis across 4 vaccine platforms.

Vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 are not associated with an increased risk of thromboembolism, hemorrhage, and thromboembolism/hemorrhage-related death.

Despite much evidence supporting the monitoring of the divergence of transcutaneous partial pressure of carbon dioxide (tcPCO
) from arterial partial pressure carbon dioxide (artPCO
) as an indicator of the shock status, data are limited on the relationships of the gradient between tcPCO
and artPCO
(tc-artPCO
) with the systemic oxygen metabolism and hemodynamic parameters. Our study aimed to test the hypothesis that tc-artPCO
can detect inadequate tissue perfusion during hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.

This prospective animal study was performed using female pigs at a university-based experimental laboratory. Progressive massive hemorrhagic shock was induced in mechanically ventilated pigs by stepwise blood withdrawal. All animals were then resuscitated by transfusing the stored blood in stages. A transcutaneous monitor was attached to their ears to measure tcPCO
. A pulmonary artery catheter (PAC) and pulse index continuous cardiac output (PiCCO) were used to monitor cardiac output (CO) aorrhagic shock. Further evaluations are required in different forms of shock in other large animal models and in humans to assess its usefulness, safety, and ability to predict outcomes in critical illnesses.
Our observations suggest the less-invasive tc-artPCO2 monitoring can sensitively detect inadequate systemic oxygen supply during hemorrhagic shock. Further evaluations are required in different forms of shock in other large animal models and in humans to assess its usefulness, safety, and ability to predict outcomes in critical illnesses.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of STOML2 and the relationship between STOML2 and PAI-1 in the development of multiple myeloma (MM).

Cell proliferation was tested using CCK-8 assay and cell colony formation assay. Glucose consumption, lactate production and ATP level were measured using commercial kits. The mRNA and protein expression were assessed using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blotting, respectively.

Both mRNA and protein expression of STOML2 were upregulated in MM patients compared to healthy volunteers. CCK-8 and colony formation assays demonstrated that STOML2 silencing inhibited cell proliferation in MM cells. Knockdown of STOML2 reduced glucose consumption, lactate production and ATP/ADP ratios. STOML2 silencing by shSTOML2 led to reduced PAI-1 expression. Overexpression of PAI-1 reversed the inhibitory effects of shSTOML2 on MM cell growth.

Results from this study demonstrated that STOML2 silencing inhibits cell proliferation and glycolysis through downregulation of PAI-1 expression, suggesting a new therapeutic target for MM.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on neutrophils play a crucial role in detecting pathogens and organ/tissue injury in acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). However, little is known about the exact mechanisms and potential signalling pathways. The aim of this study was to investigate alterations in TLR signalling pathways in neutrophils of ACLF patients.

Twenty-seven patients with compensated cirrhosis (n = 9), decompensated cirrhosis (n = 9) and ACLF (n = 9) were enrolled in the study. Neutrophils were isolated, and alterations in TLR signalling pathways were evaluated using an RT
Profiler™ PCR Array. The fold change for each gene (2(
)) was compared among the groups. Genes with a fold change ratio of ≥ 2 or ≤ 0.5 along with a p value of < 0.05 were considered to be differentially expressed.

A total of 17 genes were upregulated in neutrophils from patients with compensated cirrhosis and were mainly distributed in adaptors, TLR-interacting proteins and downstream pathways. Six genes were detected in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. TGF-beta cancer A trend of downregulation of genes in the TLR signalling pathway was observed in neutrophils of patients with cirrhosis and ACLF. TLR3, IFNG, IL1B, TBK1, CCL2 and LTA were downregulated in neutrophils. Moreover, CD14 and IL10 were upregulated in neutrophils of ACLF patients.

TLR signalling pathway genes were differentially regulated in neutrophils between cirrhosis and ACLF. In ACLF patients, defective expression of TLR3 and IFN, along with enhanced CD14 and IL10 expression, was characterized by transcriptional alterations of neutrophils.

The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of the unmet need and identifying factors associated with the unmet need among women of reproductive age living with HIV in Oromia regional state, Ethiopia. One critical component of both a full range of contraceptives and satisfying demand for family planning with HIV services all women living with HIV is the appropriate model for HIV therapy, HIV prevention, and care with family planning services in a resource-limiting area like Ethiopia.

Health facility-based cross-sectional study design was conducted among women living with HIV attending ART clinics in the special zone of, Oromia regional state, by simple random sampling was used to select 654 respondents. Both bivariate and multivariable logistic regressions analysis was used to identify at adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with 95% CI in the final model.

The study assessed the magnitude of demand for family planning among HIV-infected women and established that the demand was 630 (96.3%), of which healthcare providers, having a partner and previous pregnancy; future fertility desire, the last pregnancy being intended. These results are interpreted to suggest that clear policy implications of family planning must be better integrated into ART clinics.
The overall demand for family planning was 96% among the women living with HIV, and that 16% of women had an unmet need for family planning. The authors conducted a logistic regression and find various dependent variables that are associated with the met need for family planning services, such as having discussions with healthcare providers, having a partner and previous pregnancy; future fertility desire, the last pregnancy being intended. These results are interpreted to suggest that clear policy implications of family planning must be better integrated into ART clinics.
This study aimed to develop and validate the reproductive health literacy questionnaire for Chinese unmarried youth aged 15-24.

We conducted a validity and reliability study of the questionnaire through a cross-sectional survey and test-retest analysis in four districts in Shanghai between April and June 2017. A total of 1587 participants completed a self-administered questionnaire anonymously on-site and the trained investigators conducted quality check afterwards. Sixty participants among them completed the test-retest assessment with 2weeks interval. The reliability was determined by internal consistency, spilt-half reliability and test-retest reliability. The construct validity was assessed by confirmatory factor analysis.

The 58-question reproductive health literacy questionnaire for Chinese unmarried youth demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.919), spilt-half reliability (Guttman splitting coefficient = 0.846) and test-retest reliability (correlation coefficient = 0.720). The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the construct of the questionnaire fitted well with the hypothetical model. The reproductive health literacy scores in unmarried girls aged 15-24 were higher than boys (P < 0.05) and college students who lived in rural areas when they were middle and high school obtained lower score than those living in cities and suburbs (P < 0.01).

The reproductive health literacy questionnaire for Chinese unmarried youth demonstrated good reliability and validity, which could potentially be used as an effective evaluation instrument to assess reproductive health literacy among Chinese young people.

It is challenging to determine the orthogonality of radiographs in daily clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to show the usefulness of an additional foot ring which might determine the orthogonality of postoperative radiographs for the parameter measurement of hexapod external fixator.

We retrospectively analyzed 81 consecutive trauma patients with tibial shaft fractures treated by the hexapod external fixator at our institution from September 2014 to July 2019. Starting in March 2016, the postoperative radiographs for parameter measurement were obtained under the control of an additional foot ring. The final data consisted of 47 patients in traditional radiographs (Group I) and 34 patients under the control of foot ring during the radiographic process (Group II). The demographic data, original postoperative deformities, residual deformities after final correction, number of repeated radiographs after the first postoperative radiographs, time to the satisfactory reduction achieved, and externated radiographs with the wrong position.
The additional foot ring is a practical device to ensure the orthogonality of postoperative radiographs for the hexapod external fixator parameter measurement. Radiation exposure, duration of deformity correction, and cost for patients might be reduced due to the less repeated radiographs with the wrong position.
In Italy only recently, for the 2020-21 season, has the flu vaccination been extended to all children. A quadrivalent live attenuated influenza vaccine (qLAIV) was administered to children aged 2-17 years for the first time. We registered the number and severity of adverse reactions to (Fluenz Tetra™) and the factors influencing them, evaluated uniformity of access to care and assessed the degree of satisfaction with the vaccination of both parents and health care providers, in order to improve the 2021-22 vaccination program.

On vaccination day, a questionnaire was given out to collect information about the children and their parents. Between 1 and 3 months later, the parents were contacted to record any adverse reactions following (Fluenz Tetra™) and rate the degree of satisfaction.

We received data of 3226 children from 2152 families. Adverse events were reported in 24.8% of children 80.6% mild, 18.1% moderate and 1.3% significant. The most common were rhinitis (52.5%) and fever (24.4%). Statistical analysis performed with a multiple regression model, showed that children aged 2-5 years have an increased risk of adverse events compared to both 6-10 years old (aRR 1.
