The slow redox kinetics during cycling process and the serious shuttle effect caused by the solubility of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) dramatically hinder the practical application of Li-S batteries. Herein, a facile and scalable spray-drying strategy is presented to construct conductive polar Mo2 C quantum dots-decorated carbon nanotube (CNT) networks (MCN) as an efficient absorbent and electrocatalyst for Li-S batteries. The results reveal that the MCN/S electrode exhibits a high specific capacity of 1303.3 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C, and ultrastable cycling stability with decay of 0.019% per cycle even at 1 C. Theoretical simulation uncovers that Mo2 C exhibits much stronger binding energies for S8 and Li2 Sn . The energy barrier for the conversion between Li2 S4 and Li2 S2 decreases from 1.02 to 0.72 eV when hybriding with Mo2 C. Furthermore, in situ discharge/charge-dependent Raman spectroscopy shows that long-chain Li2 S8 configuration is generated via S8 ring opening near the first plateaus at ≈2.36 V versus Li/Li+ and the S6 2- configuration in CNT/S electrode is maintained below the potential of ≈2.30 V versus Li/Li+ , indicating that the shuttle of soluble LiPSs happens during the whole discharge process. This work provides deep insights into the polar nanoarchitecture design and scalable fabrication for advanced Li-S batteries. To control COVID-19, several strategies were proposed in Iran since the start of the outbreak. The number of reported infected people and its consequent death toll herald relative inadequacies in the quality and extent of the measures in curbing the COVID-19 transmission cycle. This study was conducted to investigate knowledge, attitude, precautionary practices and degree of fear related to COVID-19 in a sample of Iranian population. This study was conducted among 457 residents of Kurdistan Province, Iran, through social networks and social media (WhatsApp and Telegram). Knowledge, attitude and practice and fear of COVID-19 were collected using valid tools. Multiple logistic regression and multivariate linear regression analyses were used to identify factors associated with binary outcome attitudes, practices and continuous variables knowledge and fear of COVID-19, respectively. see more The mean (SD) age of participants was 37.86 (10.42); of them, 252 (55.1%) were men, and more than two-thirds were married (74.8%). About 10% of the respondents were in believed that COVID-19 could create a type of social stigma. Level of knowledge about COVID-19 in 77.8% of the study attendees was acceptable, and 352 of them (70%) were confident that the virus would eventually be successfully controlled in the world, but only 252 of the attendants (50%) had confidence about successful control of COVID-19 in Iran. Applying multiple logistic regression, knowledge (OR 1.18, p = 0.028) and fear (OR 1.04, p = 0.028) of COVID-19 were associated with positive attitude towards controllability of COVID-19. Gender (OR 1.96, p = 0.012), sources of information (OR 5.00, p = 0.005) and knowledge (OR 1.27, p = 0.006) were also indicated association with taking precautionary practices to control COVID-19. Further studies are recommended to boost level of knowledge, strengthen positive attitude and ameliorate behavioural pattern for successful control of COVID-19 in Iran.Normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) allows the in situ perfusion of organs with oxygenated blood in donation after the circulatory determination of death (DCDD). We aimed at evaluating the impact of NRP on the short-term outcomes of kidney transplants in controlled DCDD (cDCDD). This is a multicenter, nationwide, retrospective study comparing cDCDD kidneys obtained with NRP versus the standard rapid recovery (RR) technique. During 2012-2018, 2302 cDCDD adult kidney transplants were performed in Spain using NRP (n = 865) or RR (n = 1437). The study groups differed in donor and recipient age, warm, and cold ischemic time and use of ex situ machine perfusion. Transplants in the NRP group were more frequently performed in high-volume centers (≥90 transplants/year). Through matching by propensity score, two cohorts with a total of 770 patients were obtained. After the matching, no statistically significant differences were observed between the groups in terms of primary nonfunction (p = .261) and mortality at 1 year (p = .111). However, the RR of kidneys was associated with a significantly increased odds of delayed graft function (OR 1.97 [95% CI 1.43-2.72]; p less then .001) and 1-year graft loss (OR 1.77 [95% CI 1.01-3.17]; p = .034). In conclusion, compared with RR, NRP appears to improve the short-term outcomes of cDCDD kidney transplants.
This study aimed at determining the distribution, colonization and growth promoting nature of Methylobacterium spp. in tissue culture banana plantlets.

Leaf samples from different field grown banana cultivars were used for Methylobacterium spp., isolation. Metabolic profile and functional characterization for plant growth-promoting traits of the isolates were assessed. The isolates were confirmed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis, which resulted in six distinct species of Methylobacterium namely M. radiotolerans, M. salsuginis, M. thiocyanatum, M. rhodesianum, M. rhodinum and M. populi. Methylobacterium spp. inoculation experiment was conducted under hydroponic system in tissue culture banana plantlets (germ free) with eight selected isolates. A significant increase in growth parameters of Methylobacterium treated plantlets compared to uninoculated control was observed. Methylobacterium salsuginis TNMB03-gfp29 was developed and colonization micrograph was obtained using confocal laser scanning microants and endophytic colonization nature of this particular genus in plants. In addition, efficient isolate (M. salsuginis TNMB03) identified in this study may be promoted as bio-inoculants for banana plants after field evaluation.
According to the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS), the LI-RADS category M (LR-M), which are probably or definitely malignant but are not specific for hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), does not exclude HCCs. A gap in knowledge remains, including their characteristics and recurrence of HCCs categorized as LR-M.

To compare the characteristics of HCCs categorized as LR-M with HCCs categorized as LR-4 or LR-5 (LR-4/5) using the LI-RADS version 2018 and evaluate the relationship of these categories with the risk of early recurrence after curative resections of single HCCs.

Retrospective.

Two hundred and eighty-one patients (mean age, 57 years; 191 men and 90 women) who underwent curative resections for single HCCs and preoperative contrast-enhanced MRI between 2015 and 2017.

However, for micrometer-sized objects, such as amyloid fibrils, these experiments become difficult to interpret because in addition to translational diffusion they are also sensitive to rotational diffusion. We have constructed a mathematical theory describing the outcome of PFG NMR experiments on rod-like fibrils. To test its validity, we have studied the fibrils formed by Sup35NM segment of the prion protein Sup35. The interpretation of the PFG NMR data in this system is fully consistent with the evidence from electron microscopy. Contrary to some previously expressed views, the signals originating from disordered regions in the fibrils can be readily differentiated from the similar signals representing small soluble species (e.g. proteolytic fragments). This paves the way for diffusion-sorted NMR experiments on complex amyloidogenic samples.Digital image analysis is a practical, non-invasive, and relatively low-cost tool that may assist in the evaluation of body traits in Nile tilapia, being particularly useful for assessing difficult-to-measure variables, such as body areas. In this study, we aimed to estimate variance components and genetic parameters for body areas of Nile tilapia obtained by digital images. The data set comprised body weight (BW) records of 1,917 pond-reared fish at 366 days of age. Of this total, 656 animals were photographed and subjected to image analysis of trunk area (TA), head area (HA), caudal fin area (CFA) and fillet area (FA). Heritabilities and genetic correlations were estimated through multiple-trait models based on Bayesian inference. Heritability estimates for BW, TA, HA, CFA and FA were 0.25, 0.23, 0.26, 0.21 and 0.25, respectively. Genetic correlations between the traits were high and positive, ranging from 0.70 to 0.98. We highlight the genetic correlation between BW and TA (rG = 0.98) and FA (rG = 0.97). In view of the observed results, it can be concluded that trunk and fillet areas obtained by digital image analysis can lead to indirect genetic gains in weight and other body areas. In addition, the areas studied have potential as a selection criterion and may assist in studies on changes in the body shape in Nile tilapia.Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus, also known as ciwujia) belongs to the Araliaceae family, which contains more than 1,500 species in 41 genera with diverse chromosome numbers and genome sizes. General consensus posits that ancient whole-genome duplication events and rapid evolutionary radiation are the driving forces for this variation in genome properties. In an attempt to generate more genomic information for the Araliaceae family, we report here a 1.30 Gb high-quality draft genome assembly (contig N50 = 309.43 kb) of E. senticosus via PacBio long reads and Hi-C chromatin interaction maps. We find that transposable elements account for 72.82 % of the genome and a total of 36,372 protein-coding genes were predicted. Comparative analyses of the E. senticosus,Panax notoginseng and Daucus carota genomes reveal a burst expansion of Tekay chromoviral elements in Araliaceae after its divergence with Apiaceae. We also find that E. senticosus underwent a lineage-specific whole-genome duplication event Es-α and a whole-genome duplication event Araliaceae-β that was likely shared by all Araliaceae species. Even though the rediploidization of the E. senticosus genome is evident, pathway analyses show that these two whole-genome duplication events may have contributed to the adaptation of E. senticosus to cold environment. Taken together, the high-quality genome assembly of E. senticosus provides a valuable genomic resource for future research on the evolution of Araliaceae.A growing literature indicates several health benefits of theanine, a major nonprotein derivative amino acid special to tea, and a nonedible mushroom. This study aimed to systematically review the scientific evidence regarding the anticarcinogen and anticancer effects of natural theanine. A systematic search for the relevant articles published until January 2021 on MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Knowledge was conducted. Out of 377 initial records, 14 in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies met our inclusion criteria. Most of the included in vitro and ex vivo studies reported beneficial effects of theanine on the proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, migration, and invasion in various cancer cell lines. The in vivo studies also supported the potential impacts of theanine on cancer incidence or progression. Theanine exerted its anticancer function by inhibiting EGFR, VEGFR, Met, and Akt/mTOR, JAK2/STAT3, and ERK/NFκB pathways, as well as activating the intrinsic apoptosis pathway and caspase-independent programmed cell death.
