Pyrolysis kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of two non-edible seeds, Pongamia pinnata (PP) and Sapindus emarginatus (SE), and their blend in the ratio of 11 (PS) were studied using the thermogravimetric analyzer. Kinetic triplets were determined using both model-free [Starink (STR), Friedman (FRM), Iterative Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (IT-KAS), Iterative Ozawa-Flynn-Wall (IT-OFW), Vyazovkin (VYZ), and Master plot (MP)] and model fitting Coats-Redfern (CR) methods at three different heating rates 10, 30 and 50 °C/min. TGF-beta inhibitor clinical trial Activation energies were 192.66, 179.44, and 163.25 kJ/mol for PP, SE, and PS, respectively. It was found that the blend of the two-biomass (PS) showed promising results with lower activation energy compared to the individual biomass. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔG, ΔS, and ΔH) were obtained using the model-free isoconversional method. The three hidden layers of complex neuron topology are well fitted to the experimental DTG curves by artificial neural network (ANN). The study confirmed that the heating rate had a significant impact on the kinetics and thermodynamic parameters. The reaction mechanism was also in consonance with the experimental data. The study suggests that the PP and SE seeds can be an appropriate feed for pyrolysis, and their blend (PS) can be a viable alternative in optimizing the entire process.International trade's impact on the pollution reduction, especially varied reduction effects dealing with global or local pollutants has not been thoroughly researched empirically. We explored effects of international trade participation on both the carbon dioxide emission intensity and sulfur dioxide emission intensity with a panel data of 179 major countries during 20 years when globalization thrived. Carbon dioxide causing climate change is a global concern. While sulfur dioxide is one major air pollutant causing local health problems. Empirically, international trade participation mainly reduces carbon dioxide emission intensity but not sulfur dioxide emission intensity. Also, trade in goods form is more effective than in service form. However, international trade participation does little to improving a country's overall technology level, implying that regulation enhancement under international norm is the main mechanism. Compared with developed countries, developing countries can reduce both kinds of pollutant emission intensities more effectively by participating into international trade. A case study of China's entering into World Trade Organization (WTO)'s impact on pollutant reduction can provide more evidence. Also, developing countries with higher industrialization level experiences a bigger improvement in cleaner production. And developing countries with higher democratization level pay more attention to reduce local environmental concerns.Unknown illicit discharges from manufactories often contain toxic chemical matters that are detrimental to the receiving waterbody by deteriorating the performance of wastewater treatment plants. Numerical models that identify these sources and reconstruct the discharging profiles are highly desired for environment management purpose. In this study, a stochastic source identification model that couples Bayesian inference with SWMM is developed to reconstruct the profile of an instantaneous dumpling incidence in sewer networks. The unknown source parameters include location, dumping rate and time of the dumping incidence. Key factors that impact the convergence and performance of the model including walking step size, numbers of unknown source parameters and numbers of monitoring sites are investigated. Results show that the Bayesian-SWMM coupled model is effective and accurate in identifying the unknown sources parameters in an instantaneous dumping event. It is also found that walking step size is crucial for the results to converge to true solutions. Furthermore, it shows that the identified results are highly dependent on the numbers of unknown source parameters. More unknowns result to unsatisfying results. However, the study shows that this limitation could be significantly reduced by using more monitoring site data. One contribution of the study is that errors from measurements and numerical simulation are considered in the identification while results are presented in probabilities with all possible values revealed. This feature is highly practical and efficient when it comes to assist further field screening efforts to pinpoint the true sources. This study determined time-dependent IC50 and confirmed 3.5 mg/L as IC50 value for kaempferol inhibiting toxigenic Microcystis growth, based on which algicidal effects and mechanisms against toxigenic Microcystis exposed to various kaempferol doses (0.5-2 × IC50) were explored along 14 day-test. Results showed that growth inhibition ratio (GIR) almost elevated with increasing kaempferol dose, and at each dose GIR elevated firstly and fluctuated around 17.8%- > 40%, 53.6%-65.6% and 84.8%-89.3% at 1.75, 3.5 and 7 mg/L kaempferol during mid-late stage, respectively. With rising kaempferol dose, photosynthetic pigments contents (chlorophyll-a, phycobiliproteins), antioxidant response (superoxide dismutase and catalase (CAT) activities, glutathione (GSH) contents) and microcystins (MCs) production were almost increasingly stimulated as cellular protective responses during early-mid stage. However, these parameters (excluding CAT and GSH) were almost increasingly inhibited at late stage by prolonged stress and Micricated in eco-friendly migrating toxigenic MCBs.Forensic DNA signal is notoriously challenging to assess, requiring computational tools to support its interpretation. Over-expressions of stutter, allele drop-out, allele drop-in, degradation, differential degradation, and the like, make forensic DNA profiles too complicated to evaluate by manual methods. In response, computational tools that make point estimates on the Number of Contributors (NOC) to a sample have been developed, as have Bayesian methods that evaluate an A Posteriori Probability (APP) distribution on the NOC. In cases where an overly narrow NOC range is assumed, the downstream strength of evidence may be incomplete insofar as the evidence is evaluated with an inadequate set of propositions. In the current paper, we extend previous work on NOCIt, a Bayesian method that determines an APP on the NOC given an electropherogram, by reporting on an implementation where the user can add assumed contributors. NOCIt is a continuous system that incorporates models of peak height (including degradation and differential degradation), forward and reverse stutter, noise, and allelic drop-out, while being cognizant of allele frequencies in a reference population. When conditioned on a known contributor, we found that the mode of the APP distribution can shift to one greater when compared with the circumstance where no known contributor is assumed, and that occurred most often when the assumed contributor was the minor constituent to the mixture. In a development of a result of Slooten and Caliebe (FSIG, 2018) that, under suitable assumptions, establishes the NOC can be treated as a nuisance variable in the computation of a likelihood ratio between the prosecution and defense hypotheses, we show that this computation must not only use coincident models, but also coincident contextual information. The results reported here, therefore, illustrate the power of modern probabilistic systems to assess full weights-of-evidence, and to provide information on reasonable NOC ranges across multiple contexts.
To investigate the intensity and effectiveness of rehabilitation in acute stroke patients according to the severity of functional impairments in them.
This retrospective cohort study included 294 patients with acute hemispheric stroke admitted to three acute-care hospitals who subsequently underwent an inpatient rehabilitation program. Stroke severity was classified according to neurological deficits and trunk dysfunction. The following data were obtained from medical records age, sex, stroke type, lesion side, hospitalization duration, initial functional status determined using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, rehabilitation start date, first day out of bed after admission, total treatment duration, total number of treatment sessions, rehabilitation implementation rate between start of rehabilitation and discharge, trunk control test and Barthel Index score on the first day out of bed after admission and discharge, and post-discharge outcomes. Hierarchical cluster analysis was performed with clusters categorized using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and trunk control test scores. Variables were compared using the Kruskal-Wallis test, and Dunn's nonparametric comparison test was performed for post-hoc analysis to determine differences between clusters.
The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and trunk control test showed a significant correlation (r=-0.816, p<0.01) using which cluster analysis identified three clusters. Rehabilitation showed a ceiling effect in patients with mild stroke and a floor effect in patients with severe stroke.
These results may guide the determination of rehabilitation intensity with reference to the severity of neurological deficits and trunk dysfunction.

COVID-19 pandemic has forced important changes in health care worldwide. Stroke care networks have been affected, especially during peak periods. We assessed the impact of the pandemic and lockdowns in stroke admissions and care in Latin America.
A multinational study (7 countries, 18 centers) of patients admitted during the pandemic outbreak (March-June 2020). Comparisons were made with the same period in 2019. Numbers of cases, stroke etiology and severity, acute care and hospitalization outcomes were assessed.
Most countries reported mild decreases in stroke admissions compared to the same period of 2019 (1187 vs. 1166, p=0.03). Among stroke subtypes, there was a reduction in ischemic strokes (IS) admissions (78.3% vs. 73.9%, p=0.01) compared with 2019, especially in IS with NIHSS 0-5 (50.1% vs. 44.9%, p=0.03). A substantial increase in the proportion of stroke admissions beyond 48 h from symptoms onset was observed (13.8% vs. 20.5%, p<0.001). Nevertheless, no differences in total reperfusion treatment rates were observed, with similar door-to-needle, door-to-CT, and door-to-groin times in both periods. Other stroke outcomes, as all-type mortality during hospitalization (4.9% vs. 9.7%, p<0.001), length of stay (IQR 1-5 days vs. 0-9 days, p<0.001), and likelihood to be discharged home (91.6% vs. 83.0%, p<0.001), were compromised during COVID-19 lockdown period.
In this Latin America survey, there was a mild decrease in admissions of IS during the COVID-19 lockdown period, with a significant delay in time to consultations and worse hospitalization outcomes.
