Portal vein complications (PVCs) after pediatric liver transplantation (LT) are sometimes asymptomatic, especially in the early phase, and can threaten both the graft and patient's survival. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the risk factors for portal vein thrombosis (PVT) and portal vein stenosis (PVS) after pediatric LT.
All pediatric patients (n=115) who underwent primary LT at Regensburg University Hospital between January 2010 and April 2017 were included in this study. The pre-, intra-, and postoperative parameters of all patients were retrospectively reviewed and risk factors for both PVT and PVS were analyzed.
Of the 115 patients, living donor LT was performed on 57 (49.5%) patients, and biliary atresia was the primary diagnosis in 65 patients (56%). After pediatric LT, 9% of patients developed PVT, and 16.5% developed PVS. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/sr10221.html Patient weight ≤7kg [odds ratio (OR) 9.35, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.03-84.9, p=.04] and GRWR >3% (OR 15.4, 95% CI 1.98-129.5, p=.01) were the independent risk factors for the development of PVT and PVS, respectively upon multivariate analysis. The overall patient survival rates at 1, 3, and 5years were 91%, 90%, and 89%, respectively, and there was no difference in patient survival among those with and without PVCs.
Pediatric patients with body weight <7kg and/or receiving a graft with GRWR >3% may develop PVCs and so require certain surgical modifications, close follow-up, and prophylactic anticoagulant therapy following transplant.

FRIGIDA (FRI) is a key regulator of flowering time and drought tolerance in model plants. However, little is known regarding its functions in woody plants, including citrus. Thus, we explored the functional role of the citrus FRI ortholog (CiFRI) under drought. Drought treatment induced CiFRI expression. CiFRI overexpression enhanced drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis and citrus, while CiFRI suppression increased drought susceptibility in citrus. Moreover, transcriptomic profiling under drought conditions suggested that CiFRI overexpression altered the expression of numerous genes involved in the stress response, hormone biosynthesis, and signal transduction. Mechanistic studies revealed that citrus dehydrin likely protects CiFRI from stress-induced degradation, thereby enhancing plant drought tolerance. In addition, a citrus brassinazole-resistant (BZR) transcription factor family member (CiBZR1) directly binds to the CiFRI promoter to activate its expression under drought conditions. CiBZR1 also enhanced drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis and citrus. These findings further our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the CiFRI-mediated drought stress response in citrus.Protists in the phylum Ciliophora possess a complex membrane-trafficking system, including osmoregulatory Contractile Vacuoles and specialized secretory organelles. Molecular cell biological investigations in Tetrahymena thermophila have identified components of the protein machinery associated with the secretory organelles, mucocysts. The Qa-SNARE Syn7lp plays a role in mucocyst biogenesis as do subunits of the CORVET tethering complex (specifically Vps8). Indeed, Tetrahymena thermophila possesses expanded gene complements of several CORVET components, including Vps33 which is also a Sec1/Munc18 (SM) protein that binds Qa-SNAREs. Moreover, the Qa-SNAREs in Paramecium tetraurelia have been localized to various endomembrane organelles. Here, we use comparative genomics and phylogenetics to determine the evolutionary history of the SM and Qa-SNARE proteins across the Ciliophora. We identify that the last ciliate common ancestor possessed the four SM proteins and six Qa-SNAREs common to eukaryotes, including the uncommonly retained Syntaxin 17. We furthermore identify independent expansion of these protein families in several ciliate classes, including concurrent expansions of the SM protein-Qa SNARE partners Sec1SynPM in the oligohymenophorean ciliates lineage, consistent with novel Contractile Vacuole specific innovations. Overall, these data are consistent with SM proteins and Qa-SNAREs being a common set of components for endomembrane modulation in the ciliates.Preparation of skipped dienes with a quaternary carbon center at the C-3 position remains a synthetic challenge. We report here an iridium-catalyzed formal addition of tertiary sp3 C-H bond to alkyne for the facile preparation of skipped dienes. The tertiary allylic C-H bond is cleaved regioselectively, at the site of which a new C-C bond is formed. Enantioselective construction of acyclic quaternary carbon stereocenters is also demonstrated.
The aim of this study was to appraise health professionals' self-reported practices in educating parents of hospitalised newborns from the perspective of competency-based education and to identify areas for improvement of parental learning.
Patient education is essential to achieve autonomy in parents of hospitalised newborns. The literature provides descriptions of the use of various components of competency-based education in patient education. This suggests that competency-based education is a valuable concept for patient education.
A case-based qualitative study.
Three focus group discussions were conducted and 28 semi-structured interviews with 45 health professionals who practice in a hospital setting that is designed to empower parents. The data were analysed with a framework analysis approach, using a framework of competency-based education themes for a combined inductive and deductive content data analysis. The recommendations of the Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research checklist werearent education based on competency-based education principles is feasible for improving the learning process towards parent autonomy.

While a great effort done in the past has defined many molecular mechanisms and cellular processes involved in astrocyte-neuron interactions at the cellular level, the consequences of these interactions at the network level in vivo have only relatively recently been identified. This review describes and discusses recent findings on the regulatory effects of astrocytes on the activity of neuronal networks in vivo. Accumulating but still limited, evidence indicates that astrocytes regulate neuronal network rhythmic activity and synchronization as well as brain states. These studies demonstrate a critical contribution of astrocytes to brain activity and are paving the way for a more thorough understanding of the cellular bases of brain function.Conducting research in global applied settings necessitates the use of easily administered, brief, and evidentiary measures. One widely used, brief self-report measure of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in children and adolescents is the Child PTSD Symptom Scale for DSM-5-Self-Report (CPSS-5-SR). The present study examined the factor structure, measurement invariance, reliability, and convergent validity of the Spanish translation of the CPSS-5-SR in a sample of 1,296 third- through 12th-graders in El Salvador (Mage = 12.73 years, SD = 2.67, 55.2% female, 100.0% Latinx). This sample was collected as part of a government-led initiative to conduct broad school-based psychopathology screening, with the wider goal of introducing trauma-informed services into El Salvador's school system. Consistent with prior research, confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the four-factor DSM-5 model displayed a strong fit with the data. Measurement invariance by gender was also examined, with results showing invariance at the configural, metric, and scalar levels, indicating strong evidence that participants' patterns of response did not differ by gender. The results also indicated strong reliability, Cronbach's α = .91, and convergent validity with measures of commonly comorbid psychopathology, rs = .43-.68. Total scale norms derived from the current sample are provided. These findings highlight the considerable levels of posttraumatic stress experienced by Salvadorian youth and the importance of establishing evidentiary measures of psychopathology that can be used in diverse global populations. In particular, psychometric research represents the first step in augmenting efforts to screen, refer, and treat youth impacted by violence across the globe.Electrocatalytic oxidation of organics using water as the oxygen source is a prospective but challenging method to produce high-value-added chemicals; especially, the competitive oxygen evolution reaction (OER) limits its efficiency. Herein, a tandem catalysis strategy based on a single-atom catalyst with Cr atoms atomically dispersed at a CoSe2 support (Cr1 /CoSe2 ) is presented. Thereinto, Co and Cr sites are endowed with a specific function to activate water and styrene respectively, and the competition between the OER and styrene oxidation is turned into mutual benefits via cooperated active sites. Under a potential of 1.6 VAg/AgCl , excellent selectivity of 95% to benzaldehyde and a high conversion rate of styrene at 88% without any exogenous oxidizing reagent are achieved. Isotopic tracing, isotope-labeled in situ Raman spectra, and detailed theoretical calculation further reveal the tandem mechanism, showing that the transfer of *OOH intermediates from the Co to the Cr sites serves as a bridge to link the oxidation of water and styrene. This work develops a new strategy for the co-oxidation of multi-species based on tandem catalysis, providing novel insights for the design of single-atom catalysts.
To systematically evaluate the effects of decision aids for women facing breast reconstruction decision on decision conflict, decision regret, knowledge, satisfaction, anxiety and depression.
Breast reconstruction decision is not good or bad and should be guided by clinical evidence and patient preferences. Decision aids can increase the patient's decision-making enthusiasm and ability, improve the quality of decision and promote shared decision-making between patients and medical staff.
Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Eight databases were conducted from the establishment of the database until October 2021. The PRISMA checklist was selected for analysis in this paper. The meta-analysis was conducted in Review Manager 5.3. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. The result is decision conflict, decision regret, knowledge and other secondary outcomes. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were also conducted.
A total of twelve randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis.
