The new compound, confined closed pore phase (ccp), was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic techniques, such as IR, EXAFS, and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). Thermal effects of structural transitions were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), showing an overall exothermic effect of the process, involving bond breaking and reformation. Theoretical calculations reveal the energetics, driving the observed temperature induced phase transition.
The causes of residual excessive sleepiness (RES) in patients withpost-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are multifactorial and modulated by comorbid conditions. The aim of the present study was to elucidate clinical and polysomnographic determinants of RES in continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)-adherent OSA veterans with PTSD.

The study protocol consisted of a retrospective analysis of consecutive cases of patients withPTSD who presented to the Veterans Affairs sleep clinics with adequately treated OSA between June 1, 2017 and October 15, 2021. Based on the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), patients were categorized into RES (ESS ≥ 11) and no RES (ESS < 11) groups. Demographic and PSG data were subjected to univariate and multivariate analyses to ascertain predictive factors of RES.

Out of 171 veterans withPTSD who were adherent to CPAP, 59 (35%) continued to experience RES. The RES group had a decrease in mean ESS score of 1.2 ± 4.5 after CPAP treatment compared with 4.6 ± 4.9 for the no RES group (< 0.001). A dose-response was observed between CPAP use and RES (p = 0.003). Multivariate regression analysis identified higher baseline ESS (OR 1.30; 95% CI 1.16-1.44), greater percentage of time spent in REM sleep (OR 0.91; 95% CI 0.85-0.96), CPAP use less than 6h (OR 2.82; 95% CI 1.13-7.01), and a positive screen for depression (OR 1.69; 95% CI 1.03-4.72) as independent predictors of RES in patients withPTSD and OSA.

There has been long-standing interest in potential links between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and eye disease. This study used retinal photography to identify undiagnosed retinal abnormalities in a cohort of sleep clinic patients referred for polysomnography (PSG) and then determined associations with PSG-quantified sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) severity.

Retinal photographs (n = 396 patients) were taken of each eye prior to polysomnography and graded according to validated, standardized, grading scales. SDB was quantified via in-laboratory polysomnography (PSG; n = 385) using standard metrics. selleck inhibitor A questionnaire (n = 259) documented patient-identified pre-existing eye disease. Within-group prevalence rates were calculated on a per patient basis. Data were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression models to determine independent predictors for retinal abnormalities. Implantation of adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs) has an angiogenic potential for patients with limb ischemia.

We investigated safety, feasibility, and efficacy of therapeutic angiogenesis by cell transplantation (TACT) of ADRCs for those patients in multicenter clinical trial in Japan.

The TACT-ADRC multicenter trial is a prospective, interventional, open-labeled study. Patients with CLI (Fontaine class III-IV) who have no other option for standard revascularization therapy were enrolled in this study. Thirty-four target ischemic limbs of 29 patients were received freshly isolated autologous ADRCs implantation.

The overall survival rate at a post-operative period and at 6months follow-up was 100% at any time points. As a primary endpoint for efficacy evaluation, 32 limbs out of 34 (94.1%) were free from major amputation for 6months. Numerical rating scale (from 6 to 1) as QOL score, ulcer size (from 317 mm
at to 109 mm
), and 6-min walking distance (from 255 to 369m) improved in 90.6%, 83.3%, and 72.2% patients, respectively.

A cluster analysis of 857 Swedish upper-secondary students (50.8% girls, Mage = 16.62, SD = 0.71) identified politically interested adolescents who attached high levels of importance to others' welfare and politically interested adolescents who attached low levels of importance. They differed on most comparative measures environmental values, inclusive attitudes towards immigrants, support of democratic principles, trust in social movements, and readiness to step in if something jeopardizes the welfare of others. The conclusion is that the value of attaching high importance to others' welfare or not transforms youth's political interest into diverse attitudes and behaviors. The cluster group of politically interested adolescents who attached low importance to others' welfare largely consisted of males.This study examines the conditions that make adolescents open to their parents' attempts at political socialization. Based on a reformulation of the perceptual accuracy argument, that parents' messages are filtered through correct perceptions of these messages by adolescents, the study suggests that adolescents who accurately recognize their parents' high political sophistication are particularly likely to attend to and be open to their parents' political communication. This proposition was tested using cluster analysis of a sample of 505 Swedish upper-secondary students and their parents (51% girls; Mage = 16.56, SD = 0.67). The analysis yielded two clusters where adolescents correctly identified (26%) and failed to correctly identify (22%) their parents' high political sophistication, and three clusters where both parents and adolescents reported low or medium parental political sophistication (10%, 11%, and 32%). In confirmation of the hypothesis, members of the cluster group of adolescents who correctly recognized their parents' high political sophistication were particularly aware of parents' political socialization attempts and receptive to parents' political communication. This study investigates the extent to which friends can shape defending and bystanding as well as social cognitions associated with these two behaviors (i.e., perceptions of self-efficacy and moral distress). The study sample consisted of n = 1354 early and middle adolescents (7th‒10th grade; 81.4% Italian; 51.3% boys) in northern Italy. Employing a longitudinal social network analytic approach, using stochastic actor-oriented modeling, this study found that adolescents become more similar or stay similar to their friends in both behaviors and perceptions, with no clear indication that students select friends based on similar levels of behaviors or perceptions. The findings illustrate how defending and bystanding behaviors and related social cognitions are developed within friend (peer) networks.
Tumor equivalent uniform dose (EUD) is proposed as a predictor of patient outcome after liver radioembolization (RE) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and can be evaluated with
Y-TOF-PET. The aim is to evaluate the correlation between PET-based tumors EUD and the clinical response evaluated with dual molecular tracer (
C-acetate and
F-FDG) PET/CT post-RE.

34 HCC tumors in 22 patients were prospectively evaluated. The metabolic response was characterized by the total lesion metabolism variation (ΔTLM) between baseline and follow-up. This response allowed to compute a tumor control probability (TCP) as a function of the tumor EUD.

The absorbed dose response correlation was highly significant (R = 0.72, P < 0.001). With an absorbed dose threshold of 40Gy, the metabolic response was strongly different in both groups (median response 35% versus 100%, P < 0.001). Post-RE TCP as a function of the EUD was very similar to that observed in external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), with TCP values equal t00 Gy-EUD ranged from 190 to 1800 Gy!We report and analyze a synthetic strategy toward low-Pt platinum-nickel (Pt-Ni) alloy nanoparticle (NP) cathode catalysts for the catalytic electroreduction of molecular oxygen to water. The synthesis involves the pyrolysis and leaching of Ni-organic polymers, subsequent Pt NP deposition, followed by thermal alloying, resulting in single Ni atom site (NiNC)-supported PtNi alloy NPs at low Pt weight loadings of only 3-5 wt %. Despite low Pt weight loading, the catalysts exhibit more favorable Pt-mass activities compared to conventional 20-30 wt % benchmark PtNi catalysts. Using in situ microscopic techniques, we track and unravel the key stages of the PtNi alloy formation process directly at the atomic scale. Surprisingly, we find that carbon-encapsulated metallic Ni@C structures, rather than NiNx sites, act as the Ni source during alloy formation. Our materials concepts offer a pathway to further decrease the overall Pt content in hydrogen fuel cell cathodes.
