The median weight at start of treatment was 11.2 (IQR 6.4, 12.8) kg. Forty-five tunneled catheters with a median survival of 106 days were used. The main cause of loss of vascular access was obstruction or displacement dysfunction (39%). The catheter-associated infection rate was 0.76 per 1000 catheter days. Ten patients received a successful kidney transplant, 4 were transferred to PD and one died from complications during abdominal surgery.

Medial pivot total knee arthroplasty (MP-TKA) is characterized by the ball-in-socket medial tibiofemoral articulation to achieve low wear and to reproduce the medial pivot motion similar to that in the normal knee, and there have been reports of favorable long-term postsurgical outcomes. However, most of these cases concerned varus knees, and the outcomes of MP-TKA in valgus knees are unknown. The objective of this study was to investigate the postoperative outcomes in end-stage valgus knee OA patients who underwent MP-TKA, through comparisons with those who underwent TKA using the same prosthesis for varus deformity.

This retrospective, single-center, cohort study analyzed 171 knees of 121 patients who were divided into two groups (valgus knee group 15 knees (13 patients), varus knee group 156 knees (109 patients)). Primary outcome measures included the knee joint range of motion (evaluated preoperatively and at every year postoperatively). Secondary outcomes included operative time, laboratory data, estimated blood loss, clinical outcome measures and adverse events.

There were no significant differences in age, sex and body mass index, as well as in the postoperative primary and secondary outcome measures between the two groups.

The use of MP-TKA featuring ball-in-socket medial tibiofemoral articulation in patients with valgus knee OA showed equally favorable clinical outcomes more than 2 years after surgery, compared to patients with varus knees who received MP-TKA.

An important component of the neurovasculature is the blood-brain barrier (BBB), majorly made up of endothelial cells joined together by intercellular junctions. The relationship between senescence and changes in the BBB has not yet been thoroughly explored. Moreover, the lack of in vitro models for the study of the mechanisms involved in those changes impede further and more in-depth investigations in the field. For this reason, we herein present an in vitro model of the senescent BBB and an initial attempt to identify senescence-associated alterations within.
Health related quality of life (HRQoL), despite its potential bi-directional interaction with occupational risks, has not been extensively addressed among radiology technicians.

To evaluate HRQoL among radiology technicians in relation to sociodemographic and occupational factors.

A total of 115 radiology technicians who were employed in three big hospitals located in Istanbul province were included on a voluntary basis in this cross sectional questionnaire-based study conducted between June 2019 and August 2019. The questionnaire form elicited items on socio-demographic characteristics, occupational characteristics and the 36-item Short-form Health Survey (SF-36), respectively.

Overall, 94.8% of technicians confirmed previous training on radiation protection and safety, while 92.2% noted distrust in their knowledge on radiation protection and patient dosage. In addition, 47.8% of technicians noted seldom use of radiation protection measures and 55.7% noted distrust in reliability of radiation exposureviously trained on radiation protection and safety. Certain occupational factors and factors related to radiation protection and safety were also amongst the significant determinants of poor HRQoL.
To examine the effect of work-related stress and road noise exposure on self-rated sleep and potential additive interaction effects.

Sleep and predictor variables were surveyed within two subsamples with 2191 and 1764 working women in a cross-sectional study. Sleep was assessed using a single question on general sleep quality and four questions on specific sleep problems and subsequently dichotomized (poor sleep vs. no poor sleep). Work-related stress was operationalized by job strain and effort-reward imbalance. Nocturnal exposure to road traffic noise was assessed as (a) the orientation of the bedroom window to a quiet façade vs. a low-, medium- or high-trafficked street and (b) energy-equivalent sound pressure levels for night-time modelled at the most exposed façade (L
). We distinguished between low (< 45dB(A)), medium (45-50dB(A)) and high exposure (> 50dB(A)).

Poor sleep was associated with job strain and effort-reward imbalance. The prevalence of poor sleep did not increase with increasinnces.
(1) To assess the quality of the arterial input function (AIF) during dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI of the liver and (2) to quantify perfusion parameters of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver parenchyma during the first 3 min post-contrast injection with DCE-MRI using gadoxetate disodium compared to gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA) in different patient populations.

In this prospective study, we evaluated 66 patients with 83 HCCs who underwent DCE-MRI, using gadoxetate disodium (group 1, n = 28) or Gd-BOPTA (group 2, n = 38). AIF qualitative and quantitative features were assessed. Perfusion parameters (based on the initial 3 min post-contrast) were extracted in tumours and liver parenchyma, including model-free parameters (time-to-peak enhancement (TTP), time-to-washout)and modelled parameters (arterial flow (F
), portal venous flow (F
), total flow (F
), arterial fraction, mean transit time (MTT), distribution volume (DV)). In addition, lesion-to-liver contrast ratios (LLCRs) were measuredium and gadobenate dimeglumine show similar lesion-to-liver contrast ratios during dynamic phases in patients with HCC. • There is lower portal and lower total hepatic flow and longer hepatic mean transit time and time-to-peak with gadoxetate disodium compared to gadobenate dimeglumine.

However, most treatments are ineffective and adverse effects are common. Therefore, we aimed to screen protoscolex antigen molecules of Echinococcus granulosus to identify a diagnostic biomarker for hydatid disease. Published E. granulosus transcriptome sequencing data were analyzed to screen for antigen molecules that are highly expressed in protoscoleces but not in oncospheres. The membrane protein EG-06283 (annotated as Frizzled-4) was selected from 16 antigens, and its gene fragment was subjected to codon optimization and synthesis. Sodium hydroxide cell line rEG-06283 expression was induced in the pET-24a/EG-06283/BL21 strain; subsequently, the protein was purified and subcutaneously injected into ICR mice at weeks 0, 2, 4, and 6. Blood sampling occurred periodically to quantify serum immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Immunogenicity was determined by western blot assays using sera from normal mice and mice with secondary hydatid infections. The antigen's immune reactivity and diagnostic value were validated using sera of patients with hydatid disease. ELISA results confirmed that the antigen molecule induced specific IgG production in mice, resulting in significantly higher levels than those in the adjuvant and control groups (P  less then  0.05). The western blot results indicated that the protein was recognized by antibodies in the sera of mice with hydatid infection and the antisera of immunized mice. Quantification of protein levels in the sera of patients with hydatid disease significantly differed from levels in healthy participants (P  less then  0.05). These results indicate that rEG-06283 is a potential diagnostic antigen for E. granulosus infections.
Defining the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients is an important clinical and prognostic challenge. The aim of this study is to determine HCM phenogroups with different risk of AF occurrence at 5years.

We applied retrospectively the Bayesian method, which can analyze a large number of variables, to differentiate phenogroups of patients with different risks of AF and prognoses across a French prospective on-going hospital-based registry of adult HCM patients (REMY). Clinical and imaging data were prospectively recorded, and patients were followed for 5years. A total of 1431 HCM patients were recruited, including 1275 analyzed in the present study after exclusion criteria. The population included 412 women, 369 patients with obstructive HCM, and 252 implanted with an ICD. AF occurred in 167 (11.6%) patients during the 5year follow-up. Three phenogroups were defined according to their common clinical and echocardiographic characteristics. Patients at the highest risk were oldest, more often female, with more frequent comorbidities, anteroposterior diameter of the left atrium was significantly greater, with diastolic dysfunction, outflow-tract obstruction, and mitral valve abnormality, and presented higher pulmonary artery pressure and/or right-ventricular dysfunction. These also had a higher risk of all-cause hospitalizations and death.

Based on a clustering analysis, three phenogroups of HCM according to the risk of AF occurrence can be identified. It can indicate which patients should be more monitored and/or treated, particular to prevent the risk of stroke.

Non-paroxysmal (NPAF) forms of atrial fibrillation (AF) have been reported to be associated with an increased risk for systemic embolism or death.

Comparison of procedural details and long-term outcomes in patients (pts) with paroxysmal AF (PAF) against controls with NPAF in the prospective, multicentre observational registry of patients undergoing LAAC (LAARGE).

A total of 638 pts (PAF 274 pts, NPAF 364 pts) were enrolled. In both groups, a history of PVI was rare (4.0% vs 1.6%, p = 0.066). The total CHA
DS
-VASc score was lower in the PAF group (4.4 ± 1.5 vs 4.6 ± 1.5, p = 0.033), while HAS-BLED score (3.8 ± 1.1 vs 3.9 ± 1.1, p = 0.40) was comparable. The rate of successful implantation was equally high (97.4% vs 97.8%, p = 0.77). In the three-month echo follow-up, LA thrombi (2.1% vs 7.3%, p = 0.12) and peridevice leak > 5mm (0.0% vs 7.1%, p = 0.53) were numerically higher in the NPAF group. Overall, in-hospital complications occurred in 15.0% of the PAF cohort and 10.7% of the NPAF cohort (p = 0.
