To assess apotential association between lower incisor (LI) position changes during Herbst-multibracket appliance (Herbst-MBA) treatment and the development of labial gingival recessions (LGR).

All classII patients (Department of Orthodontics, University of Giessen, Giessen, Germany) who had undergone Herbst-MBA treatment until 2015 with study models and lateral cephalograms available from before (T0) and after treatment plus ≥24months of retention (T3) were included (n = 259). Lateral cephalograms were evaluated regarding LI position changes iiL/ML (angle between LI long axis and mandibular plane [MP]), ii-ML
(distance between LI incisal edge and aline perpendicular to MP through pogonion), apex-ML
(distance between LI apex and aline perpendicular to MP through pogonion), ii-ML
(distance between LI incisal edge and MP on aline perpendicular to MP through incisal edge). Using study models the distance between the cementoenamel junction and the deepest point of the gingival margin was defined as LGR.

The following cephalometric mean changes were recorded (T0-T3) iiL/ML +5.9 ± 5.76° (p = 0.929), ii-ML
-0.2 ± 0.25 mm (p = 0.430), apex-ML
+0.1 ± 0.32 mm (p = 0.363), ii-ML
+0.1 ± 0.36 mm (p = 0.206). The mean increase of LGR magnitude measured on the study models was 0.1 ± 0.35 mm. However, no association with the cephalometric LI position changes was found (|R| ≤ 0.2).

There is no association between the amount of LI position changes and the development of LGR during Herbst-MBA treatment plus retention. Nevertheless, individual predisposition or excessive treatment changes and extraordinary treatment approaches, respectively, might still lead to development of LGR.
There is no association between the amount of LI position changes and the development of LGR during Herbst-MBA treatment plus retention. In this study, we treated RBCs and RBC ghost membranes with agents that make membranes rigid and suppress membrane flicker, and studied the effect on βsp and γ1sp relaxations. Diamide (diazene dicarboxylic acid bis-(N,N-dimethylamide)) (up to 0.85 mM), taurine mustard (tris(2-chloroethyl)amine) (up to 2 mM), known to specifically cross-link and stiffen spectrin, and glutaraldehyde (up to 0.044%) all inhibited the relaxations in RBC ghost membranes. Similar inhibition was obtained resealing RBC ghost membranes with 2,3-diphosphoglicerate (up to 15 mM), binding WGA (wheat germ agglutinin) (up to 0.025 mg/ml) to exofacial aspect of RBCs, incubating RBCs in hypotonic (200 mOsm) and hypertonic (600-900 mOsm) media and depleting RBCs of ATP. By contrast, concanavalin A (1 mg/ml) and DIDS (4,4'-diiso-thiocyanato stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid) (75 μM, pH 8.2), both known to bind specifically band 3 integral protein of RBCs without effect on RBC membrane rigidity, did not affect the relaxations. We conclude there might be a relation between the strength of dielectric relaxations on MS spectrin and the deformability and flicker of RBC membrane.
The proper differentiation of neoplastic tissue from adjacent brain parenchyma can pose a great challenge, especially in eloquent areas of the brain. With the novel technique, "Second-Window Indocyanine Green," injection of a near-infrared fluorophore (ICG) allows for intraoperative visualization of tumors by taking advantage of the compromised vasculature surrounding the tumor. Thus, such a technique may demonstrate utility for hemangioblastomas, which are hypervascular tumors of the central nervous system.

Here we present the case of a 39-yr-old male with a demonstrated cystic mass in the left cerebellum, with additional edema spreading towards the vermis. A total of 5 mg/kg of ICG was delivered intravenously 24 h prior to the operation. Rapamycin The tumor was approached via the infratentorial suboccipital approach. We observed strong near-infrared fluorescence through the intact dura, consistent with the tumor location. Surgical pathology confirmed a final diagnosis of cerebellar hemangioblastoma. There was comhe efficacy of a novel application of ICG, a near-infrared fluorophore, in accurate intraoperative visualization of neoplastic tissue. While the use of a dedicated near-infrared platform (ie, the VisionSense Iridium [Visionsense, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]) yields a higher signal-to-background ratio, a neurosurgical microscope (ie, the Leica OH6 [Leica Microsystems, Wetzlar, Germany]) may also provide a suitable option in cases where fluorescence is very strong. The use of robotic guidance for spinal instrumentation is promising for its ability to offer the advantages of precision, accuracy, and reproducibility. This has become even more important in the era of lateral interbody surgery because spinal robotics opens up the possibility of a straightforward workflow for single-position surgery in the lateral position. We present here a case of a 72-yr-old woman who presented with an L4-5 spondylolisthesis with axial back pain and radiculopathy. She subsequently underwent an L4-5 oblique lumbar interbody fusion with L4-5 bilateral posterior instrumentation in a single lateral position (Mazor X Stealth Edition, Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Medtronic Inc, Dublin, Ireland). Due to the oblique lateral approach and posterior robotic assistance, both surgeons were able to work simultaneously for increased efficiency. To our knowledge, this is the first video demonstrating a two-surgeon simultaneous robotic single-position surgery with oblique lumbar interbody fusion using a spinal robotic platform. There is no identifying information in this video. Patient consent was obtained for the surgical procedure and for publishing of the material included in the video.
