Cell therapy was also associated with improvement in functional capacity, as assessed by the 6-minute walking distance (MD, 72.49 m; 95% CI = 3.44-141.53). No significant differences were seen in MACEs and QoL indices between treated and control groups. This meta-analysis suggests that cell therapy may improve LV systolic function and may be associated with improvement in LVEDD and functional capacity compared with maximal medical therapy. Cell therapy was safe, with no significant difference in MACEs between treatment and control groups. However, given the limitations of current studies, larger well-designed RCTs are needed to evaluate the efficacy of cell therapy in patients with NICM.
The aim of this study is to demonstrate our video training tool developed to teach and standardize complete mesocolic excision (CME) for right-sided colon cancer and also to present our long-term oncological outcomes.
Educational narrative videos were produced to demonstrate the technical steps of CME. Androgen Receptor high throughput screening First, a three-dimensional animation video was prepared. Then cadaveric dissections were recorded in a step-by-step fashion, following the sequences of open and minimally invasive surgery. These were followed by videos of real-life demonstrations of surgical procedures, enhanced by superimposed animations of key anatomical structures. In order to demonstrate the impact of this training module on outcomes of patients undergoing CME, we retrospectively queried data from before (2005-2010) and after (2011-2019) implementation of standardized CME in our practice.
A total of 180 consecutive patients underwent right hemicolectomy between 2005 and 2019. Fifty-four patients underwent surgery before and 126 patienand variations. The video also helps standardization of the CME technique and should contribute to improved histopathological and oncological outcomes.Dynamic constitutional frameworks (DCFs) were synthesized and screened for biofilm inhibition or disruption. They are composed of a trialdehyde core reversibly linked to a diamine PEG connector and to a variety of neutral, anionic, or cationic heads, to generate a library of DCFs to generate multivalent dendritic architectures in the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The best DCFs were always polycationic and the nature of the cationic heads significantly impact the antibiofilm activity. The best antibiofilm activity was observed for DCF3B, displaying a polyethyleneimine head. A simple inactive guanidinium functional head strongly inhibited biofilm growth when assayed as a multivalent DCF3C. Using a more advanced in vitro biofilm model of chronic wound infection, DCF3C was found significantly superior than all other DCFs. These results demonstrate the versatility and effectiveness of DCFs as low cost and efficient systems for antibiofilm disruption.
A poorly organised risk management system may dysfunction when used. The consequences can be dramatic for those supposed to be protected. Since the 1960s, preventive control strategies, with field officers as living memory, have been developed to monitor locusts. Preserving their experience of past plagues is consequently essential. Wrong use of their knowledge can disrupt the whole management chain. We explored these conditions using a multi-agent model representing a preventive system. We simulated how the field teams' tendency to repeatedly visit past outbreak areas (hotspots) by allocating them an attraction weight can help in preventing plagues.
When field teams' attention remained constant over time, there was dramatic decrease in the number of plagues, with increasing interest in hotspots, as long as interest was less than 2.5 times more than elsewhere. When the field teams were only attentive during recession times, plagues were better controlled using a low weight for hotspots. The spatial structficers' experience highlights the need to save, capitalise and disseminate this knowledge.White lupin is an old crop with renewed interest due to its seed high protein content and high nutritional value. Despite a long domestication history in the Mediterranean basin, modern breeding efforts have been fairly scarce. Recent sequencing of its genome has provided tools for further description of genetic resources but detailed characterization of genomic diversity is still missing. Here, we report the genome sequencing of 39 accessions that were used to establish a white lupin pangenome. We defined 32,068 core genes that are present in all individuals and14,822 that are absent in some and may represent a gene pool for breeding for improved productivity, grain quality and stress adaptation. We used this new pangenome resource to identify candidate genes for alkaloid synthesis, a key grain quality trait. The white lupin pangenome provides a novel genetic resource to better understand how domestication has shaped the genomic variability within this crop. Thus, this pangenome resource is an important step towards the effective and efficient genetic improvement of white lupin to help meet the rapidly growing demand for plant protein sources for human and animal consumption.Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene is an important process in light olefin industry; however, the over-oxidation of ethane leads to low ethylene selectivity. Here, we report a novel approach to electrochemical oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane in anode in conjunction with CO2 reduction at cathode in a solid oxide electrolyser using a porous single-crystalline CeO2 electrode at 600 °C. We identify and engineer the flux and chemical states of active oxygen species that evolve from the lattice at anode surface to activate and dehydrogenate ethane to ethylene via the reaction of epoxy species. Active oxygen species (O2- , O2 2- and O2 - ) at the anode surface effectively dehydrogenate ethane to ethylene, but O- species tend to induce deep oxidation. We demonstrate exceptionally high ethylene selectivity of 95 % and an ethane conversion of 10 % with a durable operation of 300 h.New biotechnologies such as gene drives and engineered viruses herald a viral era that would give humans exceptional power over any organism at the level of the genotype.Previous findings have highlighted the association between oxidized high-density lipoprotein (ox-HDL) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) development; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Under such context, the present study aimed to investigate the mechanism underlying the involvement of ox-HDL in PCOS in relation to the p65/micro-RNA-34a (miR-34a)/FOS axis. PCOS rat models were established with the injection of dehydroepiandrosterone (6 mg/100 g body weight). Both PCOS-modelled rats and granulosa cells (GCs) were received treatment with ox-HDL in order to identify its role in PCOS. Next, apoptosis and viability of GCs were detected with the application of TdT-mediated dUTP Nick-End Labeling and flow cytometry and Cell counting kit-8, respectively. A series of assays were performed to determine the interaction among ox-HDL, p65, miR-34a, FOS and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). The results revealed high expression of ox-HDL in PCOS, and enhanced endocrine disorders and ovarian damage in rats. ox-HDL promoted apoptosis of GCs and decreased its viability. ox-HDL activated NF-κB pathway and induced p65 phosphorylation to promote miR-34a expression. miR-34a targeted and inhibited FOS expression. In conclusion, our findings suggested that ox-HDL promoted the activation of p65 and transcription of miR-34a, which stimulated apoptosis of GCs and inhibited expression of FOS, resulting in the overall acceleration of PCOS development.
To further investigate the neuroanatomical correlates of child sexual offending and disentangle them from the neural correlates of pedophilia, using a multivariate analytical approach in order to minimize loss of statistical power.
This study presents structural MRI data on gray matter in an incarcerated, male population of 22 pedophilic and 21 non-pedophilic child sexual offenders, and 20 violent non-sexual offender controls, using a multivariate whole-brain approach using source-based morphometry.
We identify a network of several neuroanatomical regions exhibiting interrelated reduced gray matter in both child sexual offender groups relative to controls, comprising extensive clusters in the bilateral cerebellum and frontal lobe, as well as smaller clusters in the bilateral parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes, the bilateral basal ganglia, the medial cingulate and the hippocampus.
Our results speak to the interpretation that there are inter- and possibly connectivity-related brain structural abnormalities in child sexual offenders that are not (only) pertaining to pedophilia per se. Interpretations and limitations of the present data are discussed and recommendations for future works are given. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

The health status of an individual is determined not only by their genetic background but also by their physical environment, social environment and access and use of the health care system. The Roma are one of the largest ethnic minority groups in Hungary. The majority of the Roma population live in poor conditions in segregated settlements in Hungary, with most experiencing higher exposure to environmental health hazards. The main aim of this study was to examine the biological health and aging status of Roma women living in low socioeconomic conditions in Hungary.
Low SES Roma (n 20) and high SES non-Roma women (n 30) aged between 35 and 65 years were enrolled to the present analysis. Body mass components were estimated by body impedance analysis, bone structure was estimated by quantitative ultrasound technique. Cellular aging was assessed by X chromosome loss estimation. Data on health status, lifestyle and socioeconomic factors were collected by questionnaires.
The results revealed that low SES women are prone to be more obese, have a higher amount of abdominal body fat, and have worse bone structure than the national reference values. A positive relationship was found between aging and the rate of X chromosome loss was detected only in women with low SES. Waist to hip ratio, existence of cardiovascular diseases and the number of gravidities were predictors of the rate of X chromosome loss in women.
The results suggested that age-adjusted rate of X chromosome loss could be related to the socioeconomic status.

Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are life-threatening diseases and endothelial barrier injury is an important contributor to the pathogenesis of ALI/ARDS. LncRNA has been proved to participate in the progression of ALI/ARDS. Our study aimed to investigate the function of lncRNA OIP5-AS1 in LPS-induced ALI/ARDS.
OIP5-AS1 and miR-223 levels were detected by PCR in the serum of ALI/ARDS patients or healthy donors. MTT assay were performed to detect the proliferation of HPMECs. Flow cytometry were performed to detect the apoptosis of HPMECs. The protein levels of NLRP3, ASC, GSDMD-N, caspase-1 were measured by western blot to detect the pyroptosis of HPMECs. IL-1β, IL-6, IL-18 and IL-10 was detected by ELISA to measure the inflammatory response of HPMECs. And production of ROS, SOD and MDA was measured to determine the oxidative stress of HPMECs. Targets of OIP5-AS1 and miR-223 were predicted by StarBase and confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay.
We found that OIP5-AS1 was upregulated, while miR-223 was downregulated in the serum of ALI/ARDS patients and LPS-treated HPMECs.
