Repeated freeze-thaw is one of the main reasons for quality deterioration of frozen meat products. The study focused on the changes of endogenous fluorescence, secondary structure, microstructure, and water retention and distribution in marinated and unmarinated Enshi black pork after 10 freeze-thaw cycles. SAR7334 molecular weight The results revealed that marinated treatment significantly reduced the thaw and centrifugal loss (P less then 0.05), and increased endogenous fluorescence intensity of samples. During the entire freeze-thaw process, free water was undetectable in marinated group. After the first 4 cycles, α-helix percentage in marinated group was higher than that in control group. Scanning electron microscopy results suggested that there was no obvious increase in muscle fiber gap until 8 cycles in marinated group. Conclusively, moderate marination could slow down the deterioration of myofibrillar protein and pork quality, but it would be better to limit freeze-thaw cycles within 4 to maintain the quality of marinated Enshi black pork. This review presents recent trends in social media and body image research, with a particular focus on different social media platforms, features unique to social media, and potentially positive content for body image. First, it was found that visual platforms (e.g. Instagram) were more dysfunctional for body image than more textual platforms (e.g. Facebook). Second, taking and editing (but not posting) selfies resulted in negative effects on body image. Positive comments intensified the effects of exposure to idealized content. Third, of the forms of potentially positive content examined in recent research (i.e. fitspiration, disclaimer labels, and body positivity), only body positivity content had a positive effect on body image. Recommendations for future research are offered. This paper investigates the problem of adaptive tracking control for a class of nonlinear multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) state-constrained systems with input delay and saturation. During the process of the control scheme, neural network is employed to approximate the unknown nonlinear uncertainties and the appropriate barrier Lyapunov function is introduced to prevent violation of the constraint. In addition, for the issue of input saturation with time delay, a smooth non-affine approximate function and a novel auxiliary system are utilized, respectively. Moreover, adaptive neural tracking control is developed by combining the command filtering backstepping approach, which effectively avoids the explosion of differentiation and reduces the computation burden. The introduced filtering error compensating system brings a significant improvement for the system tracking performance. Finally, the simulation result is presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed strategy.
To evaluate factors associated with progression of convulsive refractory status epilepticus(RSE) to super refractory status epilepticus(SRSE) and long term outcome in children.

In this open cohort study, data of children admitted with convulsive RSE from 2010 to 2018 was retrospectively analyzed. The outcome at two years was graded according to the Glasgow outcome scale(GOS).

Fifty six children formed study population, 24 progressed to SRSE. The mean age of the study population was 9.38±4.28(2-16) years. There was no significant difference for age between SRSE and RSE children (9.53±4.50years vs. 9.17±4.06years; p=0.756). Acute symptomatic aetiology was the most common aetiology for RSE (57.1%) and SRSE (54.2%). There were no differences for aetiology between children who progressed to SRSE and those who did not. Mean length of stay in the NICU was 13.54±17.53days and children who progressed to SRSE had a longer length of stay in NICU (4.78±3.03days vs. 25.21±21.77days; p<0.001). The mortality was 14.2%. Acidosis was more common in children who died (27.1% vs. 87.5%;p<0.001). There was no significant difference in the mortality between RSE and SRSE (9.4% vs. 20.8%; p=0.268). At latest follow up 34 (60.7%) children had good outcome. Poor outcome was more common in children who progressed to SRSE(29.4% vs. 63.6%;p<0.015).

Acute symptomatic etiology is more frequent in children with RSE and SRSE. Progression to SRSE did not significantly increase mortality but associated with poor GOS outcome. Encouragingly, 60% of children had good outcome.

Here, we introduce a label-free electro-sensor to quantify cortisol levels in saliva samples for point-of-care testing (POCT). The high specificity of the chemically modified GCE was established by genetically bio-engineered metal-binding sites on the selected recombinant apoferritin (R-AFTN) nano-protein to impart functionality to its surface and by coating the carbon surface with the self-assembled monolayers of 4-aminobenzoic acid (4-ABA) attached to ANTA groups complexed with Ni2+ transition metal ions. Despite the variety of conventional assays available to monitor cortisol levels, they require bulky exterior outfits, which hinders use in the healthcare systems. Therefore, we performed a rapid, easy-to-implement, and low-cost quantitative electro-sensor to enable the real-time detection of cortisol levels in saliva samples. As a result, the cortisol electro-sensor fabricated with high specificity utilizing a GCE could measure cortisol levels with a detection limit of 0.95 ng/ml and sensitivity of 7.91 μA/(ng/mL), which is a practical approach in human saliva. Thus, protein nanoprobe-based cortisol biosensing showed high sensitivity and selectivity for the direct electro-sensing of cortisol for POCT.There are two major problems that we are facing currently. Firstly, a growing human population continues to contribute to the increased food demand. Secondly, the volume of organic waste produced will threaten human health and the quality of the environment. Recently, there is an increasing number of efforts placed into farming insect biomass to produce alternative feed ingredients. Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL), Hermetia illucens have proven to convert organic waste into high-quality nutrients for pet foods, fish and poultry feeds, as well as residue fertilizer for soil amendment. However, better BSFL feed formulation and feeding approaches are necessary for yielding a higher nutrient content of the insect body, and if performed efficiently, whilst converting waste into higher value biomass. Lastly, this paper reveals that BSFL, in fact, thrives in various ranges of organic matter composition and with simple rearing systems.
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been reported to play critical roles in the malignant progression of diverse human cancers, including multiple myeloma (MM). This study aimed to explore the functional role and underlying mechanism of circ_SEC61A1 in MM progression.

Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assay was performed to detect the expression levels of circ_SEC61A1, microRNA (miR)-660-5p and cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6) mRNA. The localization of circ_SEC61A1 in MM cells was tested by the subcellular fractionation location assay. Actinomycin D assay was conducted to determine the characteristics of circ_SEC61A1. Cell proliferation was evaluated by colony formation assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) incorporation assay and 3-(4, 5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Western blot assay was exploited to examine the expression of proteins. Cell migration and invasion were tested via transwell assay, and cell apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry analysis. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was utilized to confirm the interaction between miR-660-5p and circ_SEC61A1 or CDK6.

Circ_SEC61A1 level was increased in MM tissues and cells. Circ_SEC61A1 was a stable circRNA and mainly located in cytoplasm. Circ_SEC61A1 silence restrained the proliferation, metastasis and expedited the apoptosis in MM cells. CDK6 was identified as the target of miR-660-5p, and circ_SEC61A1 sponged miR-660-5p to positively regulate CDK6 expression. The inhibitory impacts of circ_SEC61A1 knockdown on the progression of MM cells were mitigated by miR-660-5p inhibition. MiR-660-5p overexpression blocked the malignant phenotypes of MM cells by targeting CDK6.

Our study manifested that circ_SEC61A1 could accelerate MM progression at least partially through modulating miR-660-5p/CDK6 axis.

The Common-Sense Model asserts that illness representations of a health threat affect coping and behavioral reactions to it. Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is a newly defined mental disorder and leads to various health consequences. Little is known about illness representations of IGD and help-seeking for IGD among young adults who are at particular risk of IGD.

This study investigated the roles of illness representations in intention to seek help from professionals and important others (families and friends) for IGD in college students in China.

A two-wave longitudinal study was conducted with a convenience sample of college students in China (N = 591, 57.9% females, Mean
= 19.10). Descriptive analyses and logistic regression analyses were conducted.

Approximately 10% of participants were classified as having probable IGD. However, over 70% endorsed self-diagnosed IGD. Less than 40% perceived resources of help-seeking, and most perceived shame for help-seeking. Less than 40% intended to seek help from professionals, and 26% from family and friends. Significant predictors of intention to seek professional help included probable IGD, perceived resources of help-seeking for IGD, consequence, timeline, and treatment. Significant predictors of intention to seek help from family and friends included probable IGD, self-diagnosed IGD, perceived resources of help-seeking for IGD, shame for help-seeking for IGD, timeline, treatment control, identity, concern, and emotional response. Females were more likely to seek both types of help.

Perceptions of IGD and help-seeking play significant roles in help-seeking intentions. These modifiable factors can be used to guide the development of health promotion and behavioral change programs to promote help-seeking for IGD.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to analyze the risks and benefits of low-dose aspirin in patients with T2D without cardiovascular conditions according to the baseline cardiovascular risk.

We performed a meta-analysis including randomized clinical trials that evaluated the use of low-dose aspirin (75-100mg/day) versus placebo/usual care in patients with T2D. Studies were classified as low, moderate and high risk based on the number of events in the placebo/control arms or by cardiovascular risk score when reported. The incidence of MACE, cardiovascular mortality and bleeding were evaluated.

Ten eligible trials (34069 patients) were considered eligible for the analyses. According to the stratified analysis, low-dose aspirin use was associated with reduced risk for MACE in the moderate/high-risk group (OR 0.88; 95% CI, 0.80-0.97; I
=0%) but not in the low-risk group (OR 0.89; 95% CI, 0.77-1.01; I
=0%). Likewise, low-dose aspirin use was associated with more bleeding in the low-risk group, showing a non-significant trend in the moderate/high-risk group.
