Chloropicrin (PIC) mixtures of 1,3-dichloropropene and chloropicrin (DDPIC), dazomet, and metam sodium (MS) have been applied as chemical alternatives to methyl bromide (MB) in Spanish strawberry nurseries since MB was banned as a soil fumigant in 2005. These chemical alternatives were applied to soil in two Spanish strawberry nurseries between 2003 and 2017 to test their efficacy against the main crown and root disease and soil fungal populations in comparison with the use of MB and PIC (MBPIC). These chemicals were applied at several doses with different application methods under plastic films. Crown and root disease incidence was calculated as the percentage of plants with symptoms caused by soil-borne pathogens. Soil fungal populations were estimated as colony forming units per gram of dry soil.
All chemicals significantly reduced soil-borne fungal disease incidence and fungal population in both nurseries over the years. Phytophthora cactorum and Fusarium spp. were the main pathogens causing soil-bornseases and soil fungal populations in strawberry nurseries. Dazomet was an effective alternative to MB as a soil-borne disease control, except against Verticillium spp. MB alternatives in strawberry nursery soils have caused Fusarium spp. to displace Verticillium spp.Accurate knowledge of expression patterns/levels of commonly used MRD markers in regenerative normal-B-cell-precursors (BCP) is highly desirable to distinguish leukemic-blasts from regenerative-BCP for multicolor flow cytometry (MFC)-based measurable residual disease (MRD) assessment in B-lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, the data highlighting therapy-related immunophenotypic-shift in regenerative-BCPs is scarce and limited to small cohort. Herein, we report the in-depth evaluation of immunophenotypic shift in regenerative-BCPs from a large cohort of BALL-MRD samples. Ten-color MFC-MRD analysis was performed in pediatric-BALL at the end-of-induction (EOI), end-of-consolidation (EOC), and subsequent-follow-up (SFU) time-points. We studied normalized-mean fluorescent intensity (nMFI) and coefficient-of-variation of immunofluorescence (CVIF) of CD10, CD19, CD20, CD34, CD38, and CD45 expression in regenerative-BCP (early, BCP1 and late, BCP2) from 200 BALL-MRD samples, and compared them with BCP from 15 regenerating control (RC) TALL-MRD samples and 20 treatment-naïve bone-marrow control (TNSC) samples. Regenerative-BCP1 showed downregulation in CD10 and CD34 expression with increased CVIF and reduced nMFI (p less then 0.001), upregulation of CD20 with increased nMFI (p = 0.014) and heterogeneous CD45 expression with increased CVIF (p less then 0.001). Immunophenotypic shift was less pronounced in the BCP2 compared to BCP1 compartment with increased CVIF in all but CD45 (p less then 0.05) and reduced nMFI only in CD45 expression (p = 0.005). Downregulation of CD10/CD34 and upregulation of CD20 was higher at EOI than EOC and SFU time-points (p less then 0.001). Regenerative-BCPs are characterized by the significant immunophenotypic shift in commonly used B-ALL-MRD markers, especially CD10 and CD34 expression, as compared to treatment-naïve BCPs. Therefore, the templates/database for BMRD analysis must be developed using regenerative-BCP.
A series of constant anatomical structures were used as guide targets for screw placement to improve the accuracy of cortical screw placement and reduce surgical injury and fluoroscopy radiation. The most commonly used angles and distances between the cortical bone screw insertion point and the lateral margins of the isthmus were selected as the contents of the questionnaire.
A total of 40 physicians were selected to determine the specific values for each angle and distance. Screw placements were performed on four dry and six wet lumbar spine specimens according to the proposed anatomical target guidance technique. A total of 100 cortical bone trajectories were evaluated using X-ray and CT scanning of the specimens to verify the practicability, accuracy, and safety of the anatomical target guidance technique in screw placement.
The average deviation rates for angle and distance determination were 105.5% and 14.33%, respectively, indicating a significant difference between the estimated and actual values from other angles (P < 0.05). Based on visual inspection, probe penetration, X-ray, and CT examination of 100 cortical bone trajectories, the excellent rate of 40 trajectories on four dry specimens was 95%, while that of 60 trajectories on six wet specimens was 88.7%.

High GC bands are enriched in active histone marks, RNA polymerase II, and SINEs and associate with gene richness, gene expression, and early replication. Low GC bands are enriched in repressive marks, lamina-associated domains, and LINEs. Collecting individual participant data (IPD) and estimating accuracy across all relevant cutoffs for all studies can overcome such bias but is labour intensive. We meta-analyzed the diagnostic accuracy of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) depression screening tool. We compared results for two statistical methods proposed by Steinhauser and by Jones to account for missing cutoffs, with results from a series of bivariate random effects models (BRM) estimated separately at each cutoff. We applied the methods to a dataset that contained information only on cutoffs that were reported in the primary publications and to the full IPD dataset that contained information for all cutoffs for every study. For each method, we estimated pooled sensitivity and specificity and associated 95% confidence intervals for each cutoff and area under the curve (AUC). The full IPD dataset comprised data from 45 studies, 15 020 subjects, and 1972 cases of major depression and included information on every possible cutoff. When using data available in publications, using statistical approaches outperformed the BRM applied to the same data. AUC was similar for all approaches when using the full IPD dataset, though pooled estimates were slightly different. Overall, using statistical methods to fill in missing cutoff data recovered the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve from the full IPD dataset well when using only the published subset. The purpose of this study was to examine bone-related nutrition after SG, compared to laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB), and trend bone turnover markers following SG. This is an observational study of 197 adolescents who underwent LAGB (n = 98) or SG (n = 99). Bone health labs were collected at baseline and 6 and/or 12 months after LAGB or SG, with additional analysis of bone turnover markers in the SG group. Calcium and 25 OHD levels increased at 6 and 12 months after LAGB and SG, with no difference between the surgeries. Parathyroid hormone levels decreased only in the SG group. SG patients had increased osteocalcin and carboxy-terminal cross-linking telopeptide of type 1 collagen (CTX) at 6 and 12 months post-SG, although CTX decreased between 6 and 12 months. Excess weight loss at 6 months predicted the rise in CTX, but the changes in osteocalcin and CTX could not be attributed to 25 OHD deficiency, hypocalcemia or hyperparathyroidism. Patients had improved 25 OHD levels post-surgery, which may be secondary to stringent vitamin supplementation guidelines. However, there were marked increases in bone turnover markers following SG. More studies are needed to evaluate the effects of SG on adolescent bone health and to correlate the early changes in bone turnover with bone mineral density and fracture risk.
To describe the frequency and severity of phantom limb pain (PLP) in veterans with major upper limb amputation and determine the association between PLP and person, amputation, and prosthesis characteristics.

Respondents were 97% male with a mean age of 63 years and a mean time since amputation of 31 years. The most common amputation level was transradial (36%) and 62% reported accident as the amputation etiology. 73% of amputees reported PLP with a mean intensity score of 4.2 (standard deviation 3.4). PLP frequency in the daily to always category was reported in 42% of amputees. Weekly and more frequent residual limb pain was associated with having any PLP.
