decision makers and emphasizing on the adherence of healthcare providers to the guidelines to improve cardiovascular care and outcomes.
Less-invasive strategy used in the elderly with NSTE-ACS compared with younger counterparts, yet age was not a predictor of catheterization underuse on multivariate analysis. It is crucial to bridge the age gap in the healthcare system in setting of ACS management by grasping the attention of decision makers and emphasizing on the adherence of healthcare providers to the guidelines to improve cardiovascular care and outcomes.
Fetal hemoglobin (HbF) induction has shown promise for the treatment of β-hemoglobinopathies. HbF induction in β-thalassemia could overcome ineffective hematopoiesis and thus terminate transfusion dependency for formerly transfusion dependant patients. Several miRNAs have been found to reactivate γ-globin expression and increase HbF. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression of 4 miRNAs (miR-15a, miR-16-1, miR-96, and miR-486-3p) in high HbF thalassemia patients and correlate their levels with the patients' HbF levels then, in order to predict the exact role of the studied miRNAs in hematopoiesis, a bioinformatic analysis was carried out. We went through this bioinformatic analysis to determine the network of genes regulated by miRNAs and further investigate the interaction between all of them through their involvement in hematopoiesis. In this study, the differential expression was measured by qRT-PCR for 40 patients with high HbF and compared to 20 healthy controls. Bioinformatics was conducted involving functional annotation and pathway enrichment analyses.

The studied microRNAs were significantly deregulated in thalassemia patients in correlation with HbF. Functional annotation and pathway enrichment analyses revealed a major role of miR-486-3p and miR-15a in HbF induction.

MiR-486-3p and miR-15a are crucial for HbF induction. Further validating studies are needed.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors have changed the outcome of several tumors; however, there is a significant percentage of patients presenting resistance to immunotherapy. Besides the action mechanism, it is essential to unravel this complex interplay between host immune system and tumorigenesis to determine an immune profile as a predictive factor to immune checkpoint blockade agents. Tumor expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), tumor mutational burden, or mismatch repair deficiency are recognized predictive biomarkers to immunotherapy but are insufficient to explain the response rates and heterogeneity across tumor sites. Therefore, it is crucial to explore the role of the tumor microenvironment in the diversity and clonality of tumor-infiltrating immune cells since different checkpoint molecules play an influential role in cytotoxic T cell activation. Moreover, cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors regulated by epigenetic factors play a complex part. Peripheral immune cells expressing PD-1/PD-L1 and the biologic roles of soluble immune checkpoint molecules are the subject of new lines of investigation. This article addresses some of the new molecules and mechanisms studied as possible predictive biomarkers to immunotherapy, linked with the concept of immune dynamics monitoring.
The objective of this study was to investigate the optic nerve's elastic properties and optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) using shear-wave elastography (SWE) in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) compared to healthy individuals.

The study included 22 IIH patients and 15 healthy subjects. SWEs were performed on the optic nerve and ONSD, and optic nerve stiffness were measured.

The patients with IIH demonstrated higher stiffness of the optic nerve compared with that of healthy volunteers (P < 0.001). The optic nerve sheath diameter of the optic nerve in the IIH group was significantly larger than that in the control group (P < 0.001). There was no correlation between the disease duration and SWE values in the Spearman correlation test.

These findings suggest that ONSD can be used as a follow-up method in the treatment of IIH. However, there was not any correlation between the disease duration and SWE-based stiffness measurement of the optic nerve.

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a common pediatric urinary system disease. The aim in this work was to investigate the changes in pediatric NS-related metabolites through serum metabolomics, and explore the new potential metabolites and differential metabolic pathways.

Serum samples from 40 pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome and 40 healthy controls were collected. The targeted and non-targeted metabolomics analyses were performed to determine the metabolic changes in pediatric NS. Based on multivariate statistical analysis and the regression model, the serum potential metabolites were screened and different metabolic pathways were explored.

39 differential metabolites in pediatric NS were obtained based on the metabolomics analysis. AZD7545 12 differential metabolites (serine, C18 2 (EFA), C18 2 (FFA), Isonuatigenin 3- [rhamnosyl- (1- > 2) -glucoside], C18 4 (EFA), C18 4 (FFA), caprylic acid, citric acid, methylmalonic acid, caproic acid, canavalioside and uroporphyrin were identified to establish the diagnostic model for pediatric NS. Five metabolic pathways including TCA cycle, amino acid metabolism, bile acid biosynthesis, linoleate metabolism and glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism were the key differential metabolic pathways.

These data elucidated the metabolic alterations associated with pediatric NS and suggested a new diagnosis model for monitoring pediatric NS. The current study provides the useful information to bridge the gaps in our understanding of the metabolic alterations associated with pediatric NS and might facilitate the characterization of pediatric NS patients by performing serum metabolomics.

This work aims to study the optimal conditions of the fermentation culture medium used for the production of extracellular enzymes (amylase, cellulase, lipase, and protease) from previously isolated Aspergillus niger strains in date by-products.

The five most powerful isolates selected based on the zone of degradation formed on Petri plates by the substrate were subjected to the quantitative evaluation of their enzymatic production. All five strains showed almost similar API-ZYM profiles, with minor variations observed at the level of some specific enzyme expression. The production of cellulase and amylase was depending on pH and incubation temperatures. ASP2 strain demonstrated the high production rate of amylase (at pH 5 and 30 °C) and cellulase (at pH 6 and 30 °C) for 96 h of incubation.

The A. niger showed the ability to produce several extracellular enzymes and can be used in the valorization of different agroindustrial residues.

Extravasation of radiopharmaceuticals used for vectorized internal radiotherapy can lead to severe tissue damage (van der Pol et al., Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging 441234-1243, 2017). link2 Clinical management of these extravasations requires the preliminary estimation of the dose distribution in the extravasation area. Data are scarce regarding the dose estimation in the literature. This work presents a methodology for estimating the dose distribution after an extravasation occurred in September 2017, in the arm of a patient during a 7.4-GBq infusion of Lutathera ® (AAA).

A local quantification procedure initially developed for renal dosimetry was used. A calibration factor was determined and verified by phantom study. Extravasation volume of interest and its variation in time were determined using 4 whole body (WB) planar acquisitions performed at 2 h (T
), 5 h (T
), 20 h (T
), and 26 h (T
) after the beginning of the infusion and three SPECT/CT thoracic acquisitions at T
, T
, and T
. For better estimatid not show any clinical consequence of the extravasation.
Rapid local dose estimation was permitted thanks to knowledge of the calibration factor determined previous to accidental extravasation. Lutathera® lymphatic drainage was quick in the arm (Teff = 2.3h). Estimated doses were in the lower range of deterministic effects and far under soft tissue necrosis threshold. Thus, no surgical rinse was proposed. link3 The patient did not show any clinical consequence of the extravasation.
Inadequate sampling of lymph nodes could lead to stage migration and indicate a poor prognosis for gastric cancer after curative surgery. Some emerging novel predictors and the application of a nomogram could increase the accuracy of survival prediction.

An international database regarding gastric cancer was employed as the primary cohort. The patients with inadequate (< 30) lymph nodes (LN) were analyzed by Cox proportional hazards regression. Based on the selected model, a nomogram was plotted and calibrated against an external validation database.

A total of 1109 patients were included in the primary cohort, and there were 6584 patients in the validation cohort. There were significant differences regarding the clinical characteristics between the two cohorts. The model containing age, T stages, N stages, metastatic lymph nodes (mLN), and the number of total LN retrieved (TLN) showed superiority over the conventional TNM stages. Harrell's concordance index of the nomogram and TNM stages was 0.744 and 0.717, respectively. The external validation demonstrated a good concordance with the nomogram-predicted survival.

The nomogram including age, T stages, N stages, mLN, and TLN had a better accuracy than the conventional TNM staging system in predicting overall survival for gastric cancer patients with inadequate (< 30) LN.

Phalaenopsis is one of the important ornamental plants worldwide. It plays the most significant role in flower exportation in Taiwan. However, the yellow leaf disease caused by Fusarium spp. has reduced the orchid flower yield 10-50 % yearly. Varieties resistant to yellow leaf disease associated with Fusarium is urgently needed for orchid growers and breeders, and is the ultimate solution for the long-term goal. To achieve this, phenotyping is the first step and the most necessary information for further studies, such as resistance gene identification, quantitative trait loci identification, and genome-wide association study.

The inoculation of Fusarium was performed in either abbreviated stem or detached leaf, and the pros and cons were compared. The former is the general method of phenotyping for estimating the tolerance to yellow leaf disease of Phalaenopsis, but it is time-consuming and spacy, and thus not suitable for the assessment of large numbers of samples. In contrast, the latter not only showed a similar trend of disease severity with time reduced to only one fourth of the former one but also less space needed.
