Nonsurgical Treatment for Congenital Auricular Deformities: A deliberate Assessment and also Meta-analysis.
Pulmonary lymphoid lesions span from benign to other forms of malignant diseases. Among these pulmonary lymphoid lesions, Nodular Lymphoid Hyperplasia (NLH) has an excellent prognosis. The surgical excision of NLH seems to be the only treatment, even if in some cases a spontaneous regression has been reported. Interestingly, these lesions may have similar clinical and radiographic presentations, making a histopathological examination vital for their differentiation. In this report we describe four cases of pediatric patients with a previous history of classical Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) with documented or suspected NLH.Background There is debate over the applicability of bilateral same-day myringoplasty in patients with bilateral chronic tympanic membrane perforations (TMPs) requiring ear surgery on both sides. Objectives To evaluate the healing and hearing outcomes of bilateral endoscopic 'push-through' cartilage myringoplasty in patients with bilateral chronic TMPs with mucosal chronic otitis media (COM) on the same day.Material and methods The medical records of 60 patients (120 ears) with bilateral chronic TMPs who underwent bilateral same-day or sequential endoscopic push-through cartilage myringoplasty between January 2014 and March 2019 were evaluated. Results Of the 60 patients with 120 ears, 26 patients with 52 ears were in the bilateral same-day group and 34 patients with 68 ears in the sequential group. The overall graft success rate at 3 months was 92.3% (48/52) in the same-day group and 94.1% (64/68) in the sequential group. None of the sensorineural HL and retraction pockets occurred in two groups. Conclusions and significance Bilateral push-through cartilage myringoplasty can be performed safely for the patients with bilateral chronic TMPs in the same day, it significantly reduced the medical costs and shortened the operation time and length of stay compared to sequential myringoplasty.A 46-year-old lady presented with progressively growing mass from the inner side of the right upper eyelid. The mass was elevated, pinkish with surface vessels, engulfing the puncta. Careful evaluation revealed a patent punctal opening. Excision biopsy of the mass was carried out. Histopathology showed pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia with few inflammatory cells. We describe a case of punctal pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia masquerading as a punctal granuloma or papilloma. This study aimed to examine the possible association between the oxidative stress parameters and clomiphene citrate resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome. The demographic data, hormone profiles and oxidant and antioxidant values of 50 clomiphene citrate-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome patients (Group 1), 32 clomiphene citrate-sensitive polycystic ovary syndrome patients (Group 2) and 87 non-polycystic ovary syndrome patients (Group 3) were compared. The average age, follicle-stimulating hormone, oestradiol, thyroid-stimulating hormone and prolactin values of the three groups were found to be homogeneous. Ferroxidase, catalase and myeloperoxidase levels were determined to be lower in the clomiphene citrate-resistant group compared to clomiphene citrate-sensitive and non-polycystic ovary syndrome groups (p  less then  .001). As a result, Polycystic ovary syndrome patients with clomiphene resistance had lower antioxidant (catalase and ferroxidase) levels compared to those who were sensitive to clomiphene aioxidant markers. These markers will be a guide for PCOS management in patients with CC-R.Objectives Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) is a surgical intervention that is still widely performed around the world with serious obstetric and neonatal outcomes. We aimed to determine the obstetric and neonatal effects of FGM/C in pregnant women in a hospital with high standards of care in Sudan, where this is a common case, using a homogenous patient group. Methods This is a retrospective cohort study in pregnant women with FGM/C, conducted at Nyala, Sudan-Turkey Training and Research Hospital. The inclusion criteria were >18 years of age, history of FGM/C, vertex presentation, full-term birth, and single pregnancy. FGM/C group was compared with women without FGM/C (control group) who were monitored for the same period of 8 months in terms of age, parity, gestational age, and obstetric and neonatal outcomes. Results A total of 220 eligible pregnant women were included in the study. Each group consisted of 110 pregnant women (FGM/C and control groups). Panobinostat inhibitor We noticed that in the FGM/C group more emergency C-sections occurred, the second stage of the delivery was prolonged significantly, and episiotomy and periclitoral injuries were higher. Also, it was seen that postpartum blood loss and hospitalization of the mother lasted longer in the FGM/C group. No significant differences were found between the two groups with regard to newborns. Conclusions FGM/C is definitely associated with poor obstetric outcomes. These patients should be diagnosed during the antenatal period, and the delivery processes should be managed by experienced healthcare professionals according to the type of FGM/C.The principle of contemporaneity, which means the actus reus and mens rea must coincide, constitutes the backbone of criminal liability. On the contrary, it is sometimes possible for an offender to commit an offence when she or he does not have the culpability required for the committed offence. The offender can create diminished responsibility through the intake of an intoxicating substance negligently or intentionally, even with the purpose of getting rid of the punishment. To punish such an offender, a legal concept has been developed which is termed as voluntary intoxication in the Anglo-Saxon legal system, while it has been called actiones liberae in causa in the Continental Europe. In this review, actiones liberae in causa, the formulation of voluntary intoxication in the Continental European legal system, will be explained in detail and some suggestions will be made for the application of these two concepts. This is an open, prospective, comparative parallel-arm medical device clinical study of Dermalix (Dx) in diabetic foot wounds. Dx is a 3-dimensional collagen-laminin porous-structured dermal matrix prepared and additionally impregnated with resveratrol-loaded hyaluronic acid and dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine-based microparticles. The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Dx, an investigational medical device, in Wagner 1 and 2 wounds in comparison to a standard wound care (SWC) that consists of irrigation and cleaning with sterile saline solution. Forty-eight patients were randomized to receive either SWC or SWC + Dx. A 4-week treatment period was followed by a 2-month follow-up without treatment. The wound area measurement, total collagen, vascular epidermal growth factor, tumor necrosis factor, interleukin 1, caspase 3, glutathione, reduced/oxidized glutathione, and lipid peroxidation levels were evaluated. At the end of 4 weeks, the percentage closures of wounds were determined as 57.82% for Dx, and 26.
