Scalable Uneven Functionality involving MK-8998, a new T-Type Calcium Station Antagonist.
A 70-year-old male presented with a 1-month history of malaise and fever. He was diagnosed with chronic empyema and went into shock by cardiac tamponade after treatment. This case shows that even chronic empyema can cause cardiac tamponade. It should be considered as differential diagnoses of shock after empyema treatment. © 2020 The Authors. These tumors are typically treated with resection and rarely recur or exhibit malignant behavior. A 78-year-old woman presented with an incidentally discovered pterygopalatine fossa/retroantral mass. Excisional biopsy was performed and revealed pathology consistent with PEComa. Upon review of the literature, there have been 43 reported cases of PEComa of the head and neck. link2 There is only one previously reported case of PEComa in the skull base, and none reported in the pterygopalatine fossa. Of note, the previously reported case of skull base PEComa involved an aggressive tumor with widespread metastasis. Here, we report the first case of a PEComa of the pterygopalatine fossa/retroantral region, which was treated conservatively. This rare pathology should be considered in the differential diagnosis for atypical skull base tumors. © 2020 The Authors. This phenomenon occurs when a damaged internal wire within the driveline makes contact with the surrounding sheath, resulting in insufficient power delivery to the motor when connected to a grounded power base unit (PBU). An ungrounded cable can be used to negate these effects, but the long-term safety of this treatment strategy is unknown. In this case series, we present our institutional experience treating 17 STS patients with an ungrounded cable. In total, we present 4922 patient-days (13.4 patient-years) of ungrounded cable support after primary STS treatment. There were no deaths or complications related to STS. These data suggest that the long-term use of an ungrounded cable is a reasonable treatment option for patients who cannot or do not wish to undergo pump exchange or splice repair. © 2020 The Authors.
