In addition, further research work considered in the field of thyroid measurement is described in the discussion section. In this study the intraspecies diversity of Fructilactobacillus (F.) sanfranciscensis (formerly Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis) was characterized by comparative genomics supported by physiological data. Twenty-four strains of F. sanfranciscensis were analyzed and sorted into six different genomic clusters. The core genome comprised only 43,14 % of the pan genome, i.e. 0.87 Mbp of 2.04 Mbp. The main annotated genomic differences reside in maltose, fructose and sucrose as well as nucleotide metabolism, use of electron acceptors, and exopolysacchride formation. Furthermore, all strains are well equipped to cope with oxidative stress via NADH oxidase and a distinct thiol metabolism. Only ten of 24 genomes contain two maltose phosphorylase genes (mapA and mapB). In F. sanfranciscensis TMW 1.897 only mapA was found. All strains except those from genomic cluster 2 contained the mannitol dehydrogenase and should therefore be able to use fructose as external electron acceptor. Moreover, six strains were able to grow oith fructose-delivering, acetate-tolerant yeasts.
Patients with pre-existing heart failure (HF) are likely at higher risk for adverse outcomes in coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), but data on this population are sparse.
This study described the clinical profile and associated outcomes among patients with HF hospitalized with COVID-19.
This study conducted a retrospective analysis of 6,439 patients admitted for COVID-19 at 1 of 5 Mount Sinai Health System hospitals in New York City between February 27 and June 26, 2020. Clinical characteristics and outcomes (length of stay, need for intensive care unit, mechanical ventilation, and in-hospital mortality) were captured from electronic health records. For patients identified as having a history of HF by International Classification of Diseases-9th and/or 10th Revisions codes, manual chart abstraction informed etiology, functional class, and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
Mean age was 63.5 years, and 45% were women. Compared with patients without HF, those with previous HF experienced longer length of stay (8days vs. 6days; p<0.001), increased risk of mechanical ventilation (22.8% vs. 11.9%; adjusted odds ratio 3.64; 95% confidence interval 2.56 to 5.16; p<0.001), and mortality (40.0% vs. 24.9%; adjusted odds ratio 1.88; 95% confidence interval 1.27 to 2.78; p=0.002). Outcomes among patients with HF were similar, regardless of LVEF or renin-angiotensin-aldosterone inhibitor use.
History of HF was associated with higher risk of mechanical ventilation and mortality among patients hospitalized for COVID-19, regardless of LVEF.

Accidental overdose is a major public health concern in North America with research primarily focused on cisgender men. Little is known about the burden of overdose among marginalised women, particularly in the context of child custody loss. This study aims to examine the prevalence of overdose and the association with child removal in a cohort of marginalised women.
This study draws on a merged dataset (2010-2018) of two community-based longitudinal cohorts of over 1000 marginalised women in Canada recruited using time-location sampling. After restricting to women who had ever had a live birth, bivariate and multivariable logistic regression using generalised estimating equations (GEE) were used to examine the association between child removal and overdose. Joint effects of child removal and Indigeneity were also investigated.
Of the 696 women who reported ever having a live birth, 39.7% (n=276) reported child removal at baseline. Unintended, non-fatal overdose rates were high, with 35.1% (n=244) of woe a child removed experience higher odds of overdose, and these odds are highest among Indigenous women. The high prevalence of overdose in this cohort suggests the need for further strategies to prevent overdose among pregnant and parenting women.
To assess the association between pediatric Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and olfactory performance.
A cross-sectional comparative study was conducted including 17 patients under 18 years diagnosed with IIH at a tertiary hospital and 17 healthy age- and sex-matched subjects. All participants underwent the semi-objective chemosensory Sniffin' Sticks test for evaluation of odor threshold (OT), indicative of peripheral olfactory function, and odor identification (OI), reflecting higher cognitive olfactory processing. Scores were compared and referred to the updated normative values. WAY-316606 Demographic, clinical, and neuroimaging data were collected from the medical files. The patients with IIH were reassessed for olfactory function and clinical state at the subsequent follow-up, under treatment.
Compared to controls, the IIH group had a significantly lower mean OT score (6.41±3.43 vs 10.21±2.79, p=0.001) and higher rate of OT score below the 10th percentile for age and sex according to the normative values (47.1% vs 0%, p=0.001). There was no significant between-group difference in mean OI scores (9.82±1.63, vs 10.59±1.84, p=0.290). OT scores were not associated with sex, age, body mass index, neuroimaging abnormalities, or lumbar puncture opening pressure. At the follow-up assessment, the OT scores were improved (9.36±4.17 vs 6.7±3.32, p=0.027) whereas the OI scores were unchanged (9.88±2.5 vs 9.69±1.58, p=0.432).
As reported in adults, children and adolescents with IIH appear to have a selective reversible deficit in olfactory detection threshold, which may imply a reduction in peripheral olfactory perceptual ability. Future studies should examine the predictive value of olfactory function for IIH.

Skeletal muscle mass measurement is the most important element for diagnosing sarcopenia. MRI has an excellent soft-tissue contrast, which can non-invasively assess abdominal skeletal muscle area (SMA) as well as CT. This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of abdominal SMA measurement by comparing CT and MRI based on the fat image of IDEAL-IQ sequence at the lumbar level mid-L3.
CT and MRI images of 32 patients diagnosed with various kidney diseases were used to analyze intra-observer variability among abdominal SMA measurements. This was done to evaluate the correlation of SMA between CT and fat images of MRI. SMA images were segmented using Materialise Mimics software before quantification. Interobserver reliability and validation of measurements was evaluated by two independent investigators. Abdominal SMA reproducibility and correlation between CT and MRI were then assessed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), coefficient of variation (CV), Bland-Altman plot, and Pearson's correlation coefficient respectively.
The interobserver reliability of MRI was excellent. The CV value was 2.82% while the ICC values ranged between 0.996 and 0.999. Validity was high (CV was 1.7% and ICC ranged between 0.986 and 0.996) for measurements by MRI and CT. Bland Altman analysis revealed an average difference of 2.2% between MRI and CT. The Pearson's correlation coefficient was 0.995 (p < 0.0001). This result revealed that there was a strong correlation between the two technologies.
MRI exhibited good interobserver reliability and excellent agreement with CT for quantification of abdominal SMA.

This study aimed to investigate radiologists' and radiographers' knowledge, perception, readiness, and challenges regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration into radiology practice.
An electronically distributed cross-sectional study was conducted among radiologists and radiographers in the United Arab Emirates. The questionnaire captured the participants' demographics, qualifications, professional experience, and postgraduate training. Their knowledge, perception, organisational readiness, and challenges regarding AI integration into radiology were examined.
There was a significant lack of knowledge and appreciation of the integration of AI into radiology practice. Organisations are stepping toward building AI implementation strategies. The availability of appropriate training courses is the main challenge for both radiographers and radiologists.
The excitement of AI implementation into radiology practise was accompanied by a lack of knowledge and effort required to improve the user's appreciation of AI. The knowledge gap requires collaboration between educational institutes and professional bodies to develop structured training programs for radiologists and radiographers.

In the dysfunction of large muscles of the leg, tendon transfer surgery is found to be very helpful in restoring the normal function of these muscles. The tendons involved in the chiasma plantare play a major role in this regard.
The present cadaveric study has been carried out in cadavers presenting pes cavus.
Cadaveric feet presenting pes cavus were identified based on their foot prints. All these tendons and their interconnections were subjected to histological procedures. The sections of the tendons were stained with hematoxylin and eosin in order to identify the underlying pathologies in the tendons.
Various types of tendinous interconnections between the tendons of flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus were noted. The histological findings showed infiltration of lymphocytes in the tendon sheath indicating tenosynovitis and tendinitis. This could be attributed to the compression of the tendons. A few tendons were also stretched due to the skeletal framework of the foot in pes cavus. The bones along the medial longitudinal arch in pes cavus feet could tend to develop spurs or elongated tuberosity that could impinge on the tendons causing the tendons to stretch and elongate.
In harvesting the tendons for grafting, the surgeons must be aware about the pathologies involved, such as tendinitis or tenosynovitis, in order to reduce the time taken for the healing of the graft post-surgery. These variations and histological findings can sub-serve as an efficient guide for the restoration of non-functioning muscles of the lower limb.
