The aim of the present case-control study was to evaluate the morphological aspects of the epithelial cells from the dorsum of the tongue and the expression of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein in these cells, in patients with and without COVID-19 infection.

24 individuals with at least one symptom of COVID-19 were recruited among inpatients from Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). 14 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 by RT-PCR were included in the case group, and 10 patients who tested negative were included in the control group. Cytological smears from the dorsum of the tongue were obtained from all patients and analyzed using immunohistochemistry directed against SARS-CoV-2-Spike protein. Morphological changes in epithelial cells were analyzed using light microscopy.

Immunohistochemistry showed that 71% of the COVID-19 patients presented epithelial cells positive for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, and all cells coming from patients in the control group were negative. Cytological analysis showed significant differences when comparing epithelial cells from COVID-19-positive and COVID-19-negative patients.

COVID-19may generate dimensional changes in tongue epithelial cells; however, further studies are necessary to understand how this happens.

Here, comprehensive function characterization of PTC stage-related genes was performed and a new prognostic signature was developed for advanced patients. Two gene modules were confirmed to be closely associated with PTC stages and further six hub genes were identified that yield excellent diagnostic efficiency between tumour and normal tissues. Genetic alteration analysis indicates that they are much conservative since mutations in the DNA of them rarely occur, but changes of DNA methylation on these six genes show that 12 DNA methylation sites are significantly associated with their corresponding genes' expression. Validation data set testing also suggests that these six stage-related hub genes would be probably potential biomarkers for marking four stages. Subsequently, a 21-mRNA-based prognostic risk model was constructed for PTC stage III/IV patients and it could effectively predict the survival of patients with strong prognostic ability. Functional analysis shows that differential expression genes between high- and low-risk patients would promote the progress of PTC to some extent. Moreover, tumour microenvironment (TME) of high-risk patients may be more conducive to tumour growth by ESTIMATE analysis.
This study aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer patients in pregnancy.

In this study, eligible studies were searched on PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases up to December 31, 2020. Data were calculated and presented by frequency and percentage, mean ± standard deviation (SD), and median (range), respectively. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to estimate overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).

Finally, 34 studies including 40 ovarian cancer cases receiving chemotherapy during pregnancy were included. All 40 patients received chemotherapy during pregnancy. During the follow-up, seven of 37 (18.9%) women had a relapse and four of them (4/7, 57.1%) died of recurrence. Survival analysis failed to reach median OS and PFS within the follow-up (range 3-72 months). Better OS and PFS after chemotherapy in pregnancy were obtained in women with early-stage ovarian cancer (I) compared with those with advanced stage (III-IV). Neither OS nor FS differed between women treated with multi-drugs and those with monotherapy. Forty-one newborns were delivered from 40 pregnant women. Thirty-four (34/41, 82.9%) were completely healthy at birth and the end of follow-up (range 0.18-160 months). However, one newborn died 5 days after birth due to multiple congenital malformations, and another one developed Tourette's syndrome, aphasia, Asperger's syndrome as well as speech delay.

This meta-analysis first reveals the efficacy and safety of chemotherapy for ovarian cancer during pregnancy, especially for early-stage patients. Cisplatin or carboplatin is suggested to be used as monotherapy to reduce adverse effects.

UNC3866 mw However, metal sulfinate salts can be challenging to purify, solubilize in reaction media, and are not tolerant to multi-step transformations. Here we introduce base-activated, latent sulfinate reagents β-nitrile and β-ester sulfones. We show that under the cross-coupling conditions, these species generate the sulfinate salt in situ, which then undergo efficient palladium-catalyzed desulfinative cross-coupling with (hetero)aryl bromides to deliver a broad range of biaryls. These latent sulfinate reagents have proven to be stable through multi-step substrate elaboration, and amenable to scale-up.
Women with a history of recurrent miscarriage are a vulnerable population. This study aimed to examine changes and relationships among anxiety, depression and social support across three trimesters of pregnancy in women with a history of recurrent miscarriage.

A prospective, longitudinal study was employed. A convenience sample of 166 pregnant women with a history of recurrent miscarriage completed the measures at their 6-12, 20-24 and 32-36 gestational weeks.

The prevalence of anxiety at early, middle and late pregnancy was 47.6%, 36.1% and 32.5%, respectively, whereas that of depression was 38%, 34.3% and 31.3%, respectively. Social support scores increased from early pregnancy to middle pregnancy then remained in late pregnancy. There were correlations among anxiety, depression and social support across pregnancy.

Anxiety and depression were highly prevalent in pregnant women with a history of recurrent miscarriage, especially in early pregnancy when the level of social support was the lowest. Social support is an essential buffer against anxiety and depression throughout the pregnancy.

NFKBIA is frequently encountered. However, its expression and relevance of the proliferation, invasion, and migration in human cervical cancer (CC) remain unclear. The role and novel mechanism of NFKBIA in CC progression were investigated in this study.

We analyzed the expression of NFKBIA in CC and adjacent normal tissues and explored the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HeLa cells by treating with either wild-type NFKBIA plasmid or NFKBIA siRNA. Effect of NFKBIA on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the β-catenin-mediated transcription of target genes were evaluated subsequently.

NFKBIA expression was lower in CC tissues than that of adjacent tissues. An obvious dysregulation of NFKBIA overexpression was revealed in CC cell proliferation, invasion, and migration, which differed from the effect of knockdown NFKBIA. NFKBIA overexpression facilitated the expression of both phosphorylated β-catenin and E-cadherin protein. It inhibited the expression of vimentin, TWIST, as well as downstream targets of β-catenin including c-MYC, TCF-4 and MMP14. Conversely, NFKBIA silencing elevated the expression of c-MYC, TCF-4, and MMP14, and promoted the EMT in HeLa cells. Both endogenous and exogenous NFKBIA interacted with β-catenin. Moreover, β-catenin overexpression stemmed effects of NFKBIA on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HeLa cells. By overexpressing NFKBIA in vivo, the volume and size of tumors were notably decreased, while no obvious alteration was found in mice body weight.

By inhibiting β-catenin-mediated transcription, NFKBIA functioning as a tumor suppressor might be introduced as a novel anti-metastatic agent for the treatment of targeted CC.

Hence, the present study was conducted to decipher the neurodegenerative potential of BPA in inducing Parkinson's disease like phenotypes in zebrafish. Zebrafish were subjected to chronic waterborne exposure to BPA for 56 days. Locomotor activities and neurobehavioral response were assessed by the NTDT (novel tank diving test), OFT (open field test), and LDPT (light-dark preference test). The oxidative stress markers and histopathological observation for pyknosis and chromatin condensation were carried out. Immunohistochemistry for activated caspase-3 and targeted proteins expression study was performed. The basic findings reveal that chronic BPA exposure significantly induces locomotor dysfunction through a significant decline in mean velocity and total distance traveled. As a measure of pyknosis and chromatin condensation, pyknotic and Hoechst positive neurons in telencephalon and diencephalon significantly increased by BPA exposure. A higher concentration of BPA adversely affects the neurobehavioral response, antioxidant status, and neuromorphology in zebrafish. Parkinson-relevant targeted protein expression viz. alpha-synuclein and LRRK2, were significantly upregulated, whereas tyrosine hydroxylase, NeuN, and Nurr1 were significantly downregulated in the zebrafish brain. As an indicator of cell death by apoptosis, the expression of activated caspase-3 was significantly increased in the BPA-exposed zebrafish brain. These basic results of the current study indicate that chronic waterborne exposure to BPA induces neuropathological manifestation leading to the development of motor dysfunction and Parkinsonism-like neurodegenerative phenotypes in zebrafish. The subject, splenic pregnancy, is very rare and interesting with about a few cases reported to date. This case report describes a healthy 17-year-old girl admitted to our hospital who complained of amenorrhea for 30 days, intermittent abdominal pain for 3 days and worsening for 1 h. The serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) was greater than 10000.0 IU/L. Pelvic ultrasonography showed a adnexal mass and empty uterine cavity. Due to consideration of "ectopic pregnancy," emergency laparoscopic surgery was performed. However, no clear lesions and bleeding points were detected during the operation. On postoperative day 2, hemoglobin level dropped sharply, meanwhile serum hCG increased significantly. Subsequent ultrasound showed a 4.4 × 4.1 × 2.6 cm gestational sac-like echo below the spleen. Laparotomy detected pregnancy tissues measured 4.0 × 3.5 cm next to the splenic hilum. Finally, the splenectomy was performed. Our case suggests that early diagnosis of splenic pregnancy is very difficult, especially when other conditions are combined.
