In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of obesity by a computational framework integrating randomized controlled trials published in China and abroad. As a result, a total of 13 articles were imported and 1052 patients were included. However, the curative effect of the acupuncture group was better than that of the diet and exercise instruction group with P less then 0.01; the curative effect of the acupuncture group was better than that of the oral Chinese and western medicine group with P less then 0.01. In conclusion, acupuncture as a complementary alternative therapy is recommended for the treatment of obesity.Currently, miR-21 and CXCR4 are being extensively investigated as two key regulators in glioma malignancy. In this study, we investigated the combined effects of these two factors on glioma progression. Herein, the expression of miR-21 and CXCR4 was increased in tumor tissues and cell lines. Inhibition of miR-21, CXCR4, and miR-21 and CXCR4 together all reduced the migration, invasiveness, proliferation, and enhanced apoptosis in glioma cells, as well as reduced tumor volume and mass in xenograft model. The inhibition effect was strongest in double-targeted knockdown of miR-21 and CXCR4 group, whose downstream pathways involved in AKT axis and ERK axis activation. In conclusion, our findings reported that double-targeted knockdown of miR-21 and CXCR4 could more effectively inhibit the proliferation, migration, invasion, and growth of transplanted tumor and promote cell apoptosis, which were involved in the PI3K/AKT and Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathways.
To investigate the predictive value of changes in LAA size and function for cardiogenic stroke (CS) in patients with NVAF by coronary CTA examination.
. 179 patients with NVAF were selected and grouped according to the outbreak of acute ischemic stroke and TIA within 2 years after coronary CTA examination. Those who met the criteria for CS were selected as cases (87 patients), and those neither stroke nor TIA as controls (92 patients). LAA size of selected patients was measured and data postprocessing was performed. The differences of baseline data and LAA parameters between groups were analyzed. The impacts of BMI, hyperlipidemia, the duration of AF, the LAAOA Index, and the LAAEF on CS were assessed by binary logistic regression. The predictive abilities of LAAOA Index, LAAEF, and the combined predictor were assessed by ROC curves.

Bladder cancer is one of the most common urinary malignancies. This study is aimed at providing some promising molecular biomarkers for bladder cancer (BC) by investigating the correlation between C1QTNF6 expression and clinical characteristics as well as prognosis in patients with bladder cancer.

Sequencing profiles of C1QTNF6 mRNA in BC patients were collected to evaluate the distinctive gene expression, between normal bladder mucosa and BC, according to the TCGA and GEO databases. The association between C1QTNF6 expression and the clinical features as well as the disease prognosis was evaluated using two independent cohorts. The expression of C1QTNF6 in normal bladder and BC cells was examined by western blotting and PCR, so the underlying molecular mechanism could be further investigated.

C1QTNF6 mRNA levels were found to be differentially expressed in two independent public cohorts, including the TCGA database and GSE13507 dataset from GEO. The protein and RNA levels of C1QTNF6 in BC cells were botnd invasion ability.
High C1QTNF6 expression may serve as a predictor of poor prognosis in bladder cancer patients, and the underlying mechanism is possibly associated with changes on cancer cell migration and invasion ability.
In our days, several approaches reported the use of natural compounds in medical applications. Among them, pectin and allantoin are nontoxic, biocompatible, and biodegradable; however, its use for possible wound healing therapeutics is still limited. Pectin and allantoin have been applied in pharmaceutical industry and beauty cosmetic and could be also applied as scaffolds for tissue regeneration, wound healing, and so on. The aim of this study was to combine by the first time two natural ingredients to develop a new biomaterial to treat skin injuries in a rat model.

For the hydrogel development, new synthesis parameters were established for the obtaining of the film such as temperature, mixing velocity and time, and drying temperatures as well. To enrich the film, the allantoin concentrations were set at 90 wt% and 100 wt% of pectin used. By in vivo assay, films were tested in wound healing in female Wistar rats, 190 ± 10 g in weight and 2 months aged.

The obtained films comprise 2 well-differentiated layers, one layer rich in allantoin, which will be the regenerative layer, and one rich in pectin, which will work as an antimicrobial and protective layer to the wound.
