001). Cases with an employed surgical assist also had an estimated blood loss (EBL) that was 47.5 cc lower than cases with a physician assisting (95% CI 38.8 cc-56.3 cc lower EBL, p less then 0.001). The use of an employed surgical assist was associated with a faster console time and lower blood loss compared to using an available physician even adjusting for confounding factors. This deserves further exploration, particularly in regards to complication rates, operating room efficiency, utilization of health care personnel, and cost. The current COVID-19 pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a worldwide health crisis, necessitating coordinated scientific research and urgent identification of new drug targets for treatment of COVID-19 lung disease. The covid19-nmr consortium seeks to support drug development by providing publicly accessible NMR data on the viral RNA elements and proteins. The SARS-CoV-2 genome comprises a single RNA of about 30 kb in length, in which 14 open reading frames (ORFs) have been annotated, and encodes approximately 30 proteins. The first two-thirds of the SARS-CoV-2 genome is made up of two large overlapping open-reading-frames (ORF1a and ORF1b) encoding a replicase polyprotein, which is subsequently cleaved to yield 16 so-called non-structural proteins. The non-structural protein 1 (Nsp1), which is considered to be a major virulence factor, suppresses host immune functions by associating with host ribosomal complexes at the very end of its C-terminus. Furthermore, Nsp1 facilitates initiation of viral RNA translation via an interaction of its N-terminal domain with the 5' untranslated region (UTR) of the viral RNA. Here, we report the near-complete backbone chemical-shift assignments of full-length SARS-CoV-2 Nsp1 (19.8 kDa), which reveal the domain organization, secondary structure and backbone dynamics of Nsp1, and which will be of value to further NMR-based investigations of both the biochemical and physiological functions of Nsp1.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2), causing the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), was introduced by WHO (World Health Organization) as "pandemic" in March 2020. According to WHO, thus far (23 November 2020) 58,425,681 infected cases including 1,385,218 deaths have been reported worldwide. In order to reduce transmission and spread of this lethal virus, attempts are globally being made to develop an appropriate vaccine. Intending to neutralize pathogens at their initial entrance site, protective mucosal immunity is inevitably required. In SARS-CoV2 infection and transmission, respiratory mucosa plays a key role; hence, apparently mucosal vaccination could be a superior approach to elicit mucosal and systemic immune responses simultaneously. In this review, the advantages of mucosal vaccination to control COVID-19 infection, limitations, and outcomes of mucosal vaccines have been highlighted. Considering the gut microbiota dysregulation in COVID-19, we further provide evidences on utilization of recombinant probiotics, particularly lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as vaccine carrier. Their intrinsic immunomodulatory features, natural adjuvanticity, and feasible expression of relevant antigen in the mucosal surface make them more appealing as live cell factory. Among all available platforms, bioengineered probiotics are considered as the most affordable, most practical, and safest vaccination approach to halt this emerging virus.A 79-year-old man with atrial fibrillation and heart failure due to grade 4 + mitral valve regurgitation after coronary artery bypass underwent the MitraClip procedure using two clips. Three days after the procedure, chest radiographs indicated migration of one of the two clips into the left ventricle. He suffered from 3 + recurrent mitral regurgitation, tricuspid valve regurgitation. The echocardiogram and computed tomography scans indicated migration of the clip into the left ventricular apex; he underwent mitral valve replacement, removal of the migrated clip to prevent embolism, left atrial appendage closure, and tricuspid valve ring-annuloplasty. In the postoperative acute phase, embolism by detached and lost MitraClip device is possible, which can be difficult to remove.
The African continent has 452 chiggers (Trombidiformes Trombiculidae) in 61 genera. One of these, Elianella Vercammen-Grandjean, 1956, has only two species known for Africa. The objective of the present study is to describe a new species for Equatorial Guinea, with the aim of increasing knowledge so scarce for Africa.
In this study, we provide drawings, measurements and microscopy images on a Microscope Zeiss for the new species described below. Also, this type of the new species is deposited in the USNM.
We describe a new species of Elianella collected parasitizingthe Bioko Forest Shrew, Sylvisorex isabellae Heim de Balsac (Eulipotyphla Soricidae) from the insular Equatorial Guinea. Also, we are providing a key for the three species of Elianella.
Finally, we are contributing to the knowledge of African species, due the fact this new species is the first chigger recorded to the Equatorial Guinea, on the west coast of Central Africa.

Describe a new species of didymozoid digenean Neonematobothrium Yamaguti, 1965 from the operculum of the scombrid fish, Euthynnus alletteratus (Rafinesque, 1810), in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean off Brazil.
Thirty-four specimens of E. alletteratus were collected in the coastal zone of the state of Rio de Janeiro and obtained from local fishermen between 2006 and 2018 in the municipal market of São Pedro in Niterói, Brazil. The parasites were fixed in AFA (93% ethanol 70%, 5% formaldehyde, 2% glacial acetic acid) without pressure, stained with Langeron alcoholic acid carmine, dehydrated in an alcohol series, cleared in beachwood creosote or clove oil and mounted in Canada balsam as permanent slides.
Neonematobothrium annakohnae n. Aloxistatin manufacturer sp. is a member of the genus based on a combination of the following characteristics body free, uncapsulated; body long and dorsoventrally flattened; esophagus surrounded by gland cells; ovary and vitellarium single, long, narrow and unbranched in the anterior and posterior hald intriguing group of parasites, due to the fact that number of known didymozoids taxa in the Atlantic Ocean is far from representing the real situation.
Neonematobothrium annakohnae n. sp. parasite of E. alletteratus from the Southwest Atlantic Ocean, described herein, represents the third species of Didymozoidae belonging to the genus Neonematobothrium. The two known species Neonematobothrium kawakawa Yamaguti, 1965 and Neonematobothrium dorsale Yamaguti, 1970 were described from fish belonging to the same genus of the host from Pacific Ocean. The diagnosis of the genus is enlarged to "esophagus with or without diverticula", to fill the characteristics presented by the new species. The description of N. link2 annakohnae n. sp. demonstrates the need to expand the studies of these interesting and intriguing group of parasites, due to the fact that number of known didymozoids taxa in the Atlantic Ocean is far from representing the real situation.
In recent years, antimonial agents and other synthetic antileishmanial drugs, such as amphotericin B, paromomycin, and many other drugs, have restrictions in use due to the toxicity risk, high cost, and emerging resistance to these drugs. The present study aimed to review the antileishmanial effects of curcumin, its derivatives, and other relevant pharmaceutical formulations on leishmaniasis.
The present study was carried out according to the 06-preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guideline and registered in the CAMARADES-NC3Rs Preclinical Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Facility (SyRF) database. Some English-language databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, EBSCO, Science Direct, and Scopus were searched for publications worldwide related to antileishmanial effects of curcumin, its derivatives, and other relevant pharmaceutical formulations, without date limitation, to identify all the published articles (in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studid complementary source of valuable antileishmanial components against leishmaniasis, which had no significant toxicity. However, further studies are required to elucidate this concluding remark, especially in clinical settings.
In the present review, according to the studies in the literature, various forms of drugs based on curcumin and their derivatives exhibited significant in vitro and in vivo antileishmanial activity against different Leishmania spp. The results revealed that curcumin and its derivatives could be considered as an alternative and complementary source of valuable antileishmanial components against leishmaniasis, which had no significant toxicity. However, further studies are required to elucidate this concluding remark, especially in clinical settings.
Pediculosis caused by human head louse, Pediculus humanus capitis De Geer (Anoplura Pediculidae) is a public health problem with a high prevalence, especially among children in school age. Different chemical pediculicides (insecticides) are used against lice but the repeated application of these pediculicides for the treatment of P. humanus capitis infestation in the past decades has resulted in the development of resistance. The plant essential oils have been used as alternative sources of lice treatment agents. Pediculicidal activity of the essential oils of three Origanum species (O. onites, O. majorana and O. minutiflorum) against P. humanus capitis adults was examined in this study.
Essential oils from aerial parts of three Origanum species were obtained by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus. P. humanus capitis specimens used were obtained from infested children by combing method at primary schools. Adult lice were exposed to three dilutions (1%, 0.5% and 0.1% w/v) of tested oils for 5min using the adult immersion test.
According to the results, all Origanum essential oils at 1% concentration have been shown to significantly decrease the rate of limb, bowel and abdomen movements, producing more than 90% mortality after 12h.
Our results indicated that Origanum essential oils can be used for the development of new pediculicides against head louse.

Bats belong to different guilds and thus differ in the environmental resources that they exploit. They also evolved to have a very rich diversity of roosting and feeding habits. link3 Therefore, it enables them to harbor different species of parasites that could be zoonotic and may pose public health importance. The current study aimed to identify the ectoparasites of bats, under Family Streblidae, in different caves of Unisan, Quezon, Philippines.
Four caves were sampled in the study namely, Malusak, Mahangin, De Lamesa, and Bonifacio. Two mist nets for each cave were set up to capture bats. The bats were carefully observed for the presence of ectoparasites using forceps and cotton balls.
Eight bat species belonging to four families, namely Hipposideridae, Vespertilionidae, Rhinolophidae, and Pteropodidae, were recovered from the study. Results showed that 130 out of 202 (64.36%) bats were infested with streblids with an overall mean intensity of 1 ectoparasite/bat. Out of four streblid species, Brachytarsina werneri, Brachytarsina amboinensis, and Raymondia pseudopagodarum were classified as stenoxenous.
